People handle anger in different ways. He may have been calm but deep down he was probably seething with rage and imagining every possible thing he could do to her and get away with.
I’m a gay guy so I have no worry about fighting a woman for hitting my daughter. But if I was Sharon (only cuz she spent the most time with Vicky), we’re fighting. Best hope those hair curlers don’t tear out her hair when I grab for those. But I feel like in the 60s, hitting kids was akin to a slap on the wrist. But I wasn’t alive then. Not for 30 something years at least
Slapping kids that aren't yours, wouldn't fly today. Brian Keith's character just stood there, and didn't say a word to the Evil Queen Vickie. I know it's Disney, and it was 1961, but he should have told her off, big time,!!!
@@LaneCormieractually, while mama bear isn’t physically in the campground, she would be close by. In fact the first thing to do when you see bear cubs would be to scan the area and make sure you’re not separating them from mom.
At least in the remake Meredith didn't lay her hands on the girls. She did threaten to send them to Switzerland, which honestly, I wouldn't be upset about.
In case you're wondering it was Susan who got slapped. For one we know Susan is the expert at stringing and it was the twin in the blue pjs stringing Vicky's tent. Also you can hear Sharon's accent saying "Do want your clothes Vicky?" that came from the twin in the patterned pjs.
Fun Fact : parents trap 1960s Is actually connected to the 1998 version because Vicky is actually Meredith’s mother and she refers her self as aunty Vicky to Halle
@@IsraelNowIsraelForever oooh that’s actually a good point ..I imagine they just never made no mentions of Hayley mills and her other twin in the 1998 version
I was so taken aback when I first saw this. I know beating the shit out of children was common place but this shows how absolutely nasty this woman is. Oh well. She’ll have Meredith and possibly they’ll go out for drinks and discuss their coincidental engagements with a man with twins lol
Vicki is mean like * Lady Tremaine * Drizella Tremaine * Queen of Hearts * Maleficent * Cruella De Vile * Ursula * Bellwether * Evil Queen * Yzma * Madam Mim * Mother Gothel
Even in the 1961 context this woman slapping a girl who was only 13 ( a minor ) and NOT her own daughter, would be considered abuse; just as if a complete stranger had assaulted the kid. It is good that they showed this because it shows that she was always such a mean B word and was only after the money and did not care about the girls did not want to help raise them (she would essentially have to be the replacement mother/stepmother) was so wrapped up in herself that she would have ended up divorcing the man at any rate down the road and make a lot of $$ off the divorce. Plain and simple. And the real bad part this kind of attitude still occurs women do marry men with children for their $$ and not to become a family with them.
That father was way too relaxed for someone who just saw a woman slap a child that wasn't even hers. And then they're all smiles once she leaves lol

It’s probably also the time period as well

babe you gotta think of the year and morals they had back then.
It was ok in the 60s 😂
And here Vicki shows her true colours.
Really
“Get me out of this STINKIN- FRESH AIR!”

Someone’s gotta smack the kids when they act up.
@@royconestoga7326 she deserved it
Those baby bear are so cute & I hope they were okay after that scream
Me too. I love animals.
Right????
I would be shocked when waking up but I’d be more concerned about momma bear (though she obviously isn’t there) 😂😂
Oh man if she slapped the cubs instead mama would be all over her!

Boy I wonder why that wasn't in the remake lol
Because it took only six months for the filming I guess the director were in a hurry to wrap up the filming
Probably to keep the remake softer.
Slapping children was more common place in the 60s rather than the 90s. :/ Shoot, Hallie didn’t slap Annie at any point.
Different times I guess, for time of the remake you could more or less guarantee Meredith would've gone to prison for slapping a child.

Would it be fair to call the MCMXCVIII version a sequel because of this connection?

Hayley Mills was asked to appear in the MCMXCVIII adaptation, but she was unavailable.

Too bad in the updated one they didn't have Meredith do the same thing.
A lot changed in the 37 years between films
Good times back when you could get a wrap on the mouth

I like 1998 better
Sharon & Susan are Hayley Mills
And Lindsay Lohan are Hallie and Annie.
I always wondered if they had done something to the clothes... just in case this didn't work.
