I never did understand the use of the word 'for' in the first line: O Beautiful FOR Spacious Skies, FOR Amber Waves of Grain... Surely 'vast' would have been better: O Beautiful VAST Spacious Skies, VAST Amber Waves of Grain? But I'm British, so maybe the word 'for' suits in the American dialect? Any experts out there in comment land wanna tell me?
She is listing all of the reasons America is beautiful. It is beautiful FOR so and so.
The writer was on a buckboard traveling on pike's peak. She describing her traveling experience.
She was traveling up pikes peak and she was describing her journey.

I was a young boy when I saw this in the movies. I loved when they sang this song.
I watched this the other night. I just love Hayley Mills. Disney's Darling.
I’m going to meet Hayley Mills in February! I’m reading her autobiography right now, and it’s great. It’s called “Forever Young”
@@maxhubmann1696 If you can manage it, give her a big hug from me.
@@Monkey_Slasher will do! Sorry for the late response

That was a wonderful song and a movie, too!
I ❤ Hayley Mills is very much still alive loved it.
Wonderful movie!!!!
Great to see Hayley!! x
Hayley Mills has been acting ever since she was a tiny baby. No joke.
This is the youngest I have seen her, but then, I don't watch many old films.
I ❤ Hayley Mills.
Beatful❤❤❤
I remember having a school boy crush on Hayley.
Can't blame you for that! I bet a lot of other boys did too.
❤Maravillosa y encantadora película por eso es que estados unidos son poderosos y unidos por siempre esta Dios al lado de esa nación gracias ❤

I cant believe i havent seen this one 😂
Very 😊Beautiful
We sang this in opening exercises in the early grades of school. I'm sure Hayley Mills had to learn the song for the film, as she was British and this was not something she'd know.
Hayley must have been Disney's sweetheart at the time... I'm sure there were 100's of American girls who could have played the part equally well, but they chose Hayley instead.
Harley Mils good singer
thank you
What are your favorite lines or scenes from the film? Mine is when Jimmy Beans says "I'm something you can't be, I'm an orphan". Surely, since both of her parents died Pollyanna is also an orphan (albeit living in her aunt's posh home).

This movie is my cozy place..where america was great..Hollywood wasn't bad and Disney wasn't political ...oh the good old days ... where they taught beautiful messages in movies ..not like these days crap.... absolutely nonsense
She’s British in real life though
As am I! 🤣
What's is she singing it for
She's English
Ha Ha
Good point! I never thought about that.
The movie Pollyanna
*looks around*. No diversity casting or wokeness. My kind of film
Well firstly it was the 60s and secondly, that’s a little racist don’t you think…? Smdh. 🤦🏾♀️
@@PrincessJJ-o3n if you're woke, you're a joke
In period movies like "The Music Man", set in 1912 or so, I don't think diversity works. The 2003 remake starring Mathew Broderick was more diverse, and it just looked contrived and fake. I wouldn't make a movie about 19th century London diverse either. Don't ever redo "Oliver" that way please!
@@kenaldri4923 o, don't worry, a black oliver, indian Pip, ebeneesa scrooge, and trans princess and pauperette are coming. I'm surprised any whites were cast in the crown
What if the cast was diverse?
