ROBERT GLASPER Electric Piano Explorations | Keyscape Sessions

- Major thrill for us with Grammy-winning hip-hop/jazz artist Robert Glasper working the nuances of the Keyscape Classic Rhodes and Vintage Vibe Electric Piano!
The first section features Robert's first reaction to our Classic Rhodes Suitcase, which is his signature sound. When he spontaneously started to riff on his hit song "Calls", we switched to the Vintage Vibe Electric Piano (which is what the original track was cut with) and finally, we cranked up the mechanical noise on the Classic Rhodes which inspired Robert to go into an amazing polyrhythmic jam!

Robert is using a Roland A-88 to play Keyscape in this video. The keyboard stand is a custom Gibraltar build.
I haven't found a Keyscape video I haven't liked.
Buy one

So true!!
This rhodes sound is INSAAANNNEEE!!! The fact that Robert Glasper is playing "Calls" only makes it better.
Robert Glasper = automatic thumbs up
Diggyonutube this comment = automatic thumbs up
Facts
not necessarily
@@medec021 Haters will hate..
The Rhodes is just such a healing sound
Especially in the right hands.
"Can we cuss on keyscape?"
"Sure!"
"This shit's fucking awesome that's what it is,"
hahahahahahahahah
Wow hearing how it responds to that style of fast playing really separates it from your average ep sample/emulation. Never heard that level of detail before.
He deserved that grammy
without question.
Did you guys know Robert Glasper count beats by his eyelids?
You might be on to something there
All musicians have some unique twitch
He's my generation's Stevie or Quincy. A musician's musician.
Bro. Tolliver def more talented than a quincy bro
Following the footsteps of hancock id say
He is your GENERATIONS ROBERT GLASPER!!!!
@@UBeesh10 Both Quincy and Glasper are very talented in completely different aspects. Quincy was amazing at arranging and producing. Glasper is on of the best jazz players of our generation and delivers his own unique sonic signature to the music he composes.
@@MovieAddictMitch thats your opinion. Not mine.
There's is just no words for how god this guy is at the piano
NewDymensionZ he’s insane but have u seen Cory Henry
@@Bby_ye Cory Henry is especially insane as an organ player, but on the rhodes/piano Glasper is god.
@@jessevandendoren check out "jesus molina Nord at namm highlights 2018"
Definitely. The guy mostly plays around with harmony but when he wants to solo at 300bpm the man will deliver.
How God?
Man... a TRUE musical genius. I wish more folks my age and my era would bring back musicality like this. Coming from a father who is a musician, I LIVE for stuff like this. Rob G.. the coldest.
How beautiful is the keyboard part from Calls... he is truly a genious.
I like how he looks at the "empty" midi keyboard at the end, like if there was some trick hidden under it ;) Amazing as always...
Youa ctually hear the tines like a real rhodes....had me fooled
Robert Glasper! Next one to feature: Aydin Esen!
ArgoBeats Cidden inanılmaz benziyor Aydın Esen’in stiline, yerinde tespit.
Talk about signature sound. His tone is so homelike. Never fails to take me places.
Brian Culbertson Where are you???? These vids are the equivalent to lemonade on a hot day, a cigarette after good sex, granny’s hot homemade butter biscuits in the morning, chicken and waffles with hot maple syrup, a warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top. In short they are simply amazing 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
The one guy I wish I could've seen with Spectrasonic products = Joe Sample
Us too! He was a good friend and we were looking forward to showing him Keyscape, but he passed before we completed it. ;-(
Just tears when I think of the late-great JOE SAMPLE, oh dear... "A Rainy Day in Monterey"...
I almost cried dawg
Damn this hit me in the soul.... "It Happens Every Day" is my favorite song to play
He plays so damn lazy and that's what makes him such a legend bc it sounds so spectacular.
Thanks keyscape and robert glasper! Enjoying this time and time again
fantastic Robert Glasper ! I love this man and his modern vision of jazz
0:45 _You always answer my call, when I call_
Started playing some Lionel Loueke ish.....
Robert DdoubleflatMinor Glasper
If you don't know how cold 2:00 is I can't explain it to you
@@pete3816 what does that mean?
All of Africa is alive in his soul. Joyous!
@@Oli420X
multi-rhythm basically like a triplet, and an eighth note played at the same.
Its just a poly-rhythm... most pro musicians can do this.... but yeah, it's cool
The tempo switch
1:30 mother of polymeter
chords or song from 0:00 to 0:25 please?
I purchased the box. And I don't even play keys. Well would be useful in the studio.
I just feel like... I shouldn't play anymore.....ever~! LOL
I need to know 0:24 to 0:45 does anybody know?!?!
Smells like teen spirit
Get Brad Mehldau!!!
I don't think Mehldau goes for the Imitation . Sure Robert Glasper , Greg Phillinganes make that stuff sound great. but everyone that had owned a Rhodes or real played one for some time , knows and will tell you , that there is the real thing and then there is the not so real thing at all .
@@ericwilhelm2941 That's not the point. The point is how close Keyscape manages to get. I'm sure Glasper still is going to carry the real thing on stage when he plays, but for people not able to afford thousands of dollars vintage instruments that break all the time this is the next best thing and it's amazing how well it sounds for a VST.
"Ya'll should've recorded that" ;) yeah always recording if you're a real sound guy ;) never miss out on the first impression.. fucking amazing
It was recorded tho ;)
What is the tune in 0:25?
Could've just been improv'd
Calls - Robert Glasper. At least i recognize that tune shortly after 0:25 so try that!
@1:29 Sounds like something the very underrated Larry Dunn of EW&F would do.
I would love for Robert Glasper, Dwele and Larry Dunn to work together on a musical concept together. They should call themselves "Magnetic Prophets of Ra"
you always answer calls!! Man Robert Glasper's keys hit me harder than words
1:19 the kind of look: "I know what I'm doing, folks, trust me" haha
Eric, can you contact El Debarge for a Keyscape segment. Being that he's a great Keyboard Player and the main sound of his great compositions are mostly great Rhodes and Grand Piano..
ROBERT GLASPER IS A BAD MAN
We need Larry Dunn to play a set on this keyboard.
This is one damn good player. This is officially my best channel this year.
F'n Awesome, indeed!! Glasper and Spectrasonics = Masters at what they do!!!
Dream come through, Robert finally here on keyscape ...
Kevin Powell, Kevin Bond or Aaron Lindsey next!
Aaron Lindsey
Right *Lindsey
This one is the icing on the cake. Y'all did a great job convincing Robert Glasper
2:53 best testimonial you can ever ask for. Beautiful.
You guys gotta feature Alicia Keys and D'Angelo. That would be awesome.
Maybe not Alicia keys...
Then if this the case , They should try to get Patrice Rushen and Carla Bley because those 2 can " damn sho play keys " !
Patrice Can really play piano like crazy
Dude they just featured Robert Glasper....No disrespect to Alicia, but why would you wanna go backwards ?.....Robert is on another level
Dayum, "Calls" sounds incredible!! 0:44
Wow, if you guys could get Lonnie Liston Smith on here, I would be stoked!
Whoa Cosmic Echoes !
those chords though! can't get enough
probably some of the best content on youtube... ty spectrasonics, for EVERYTHING!
0:45 You always answer calls
When I call, you come
Harmonic Heaven right there!
I dare to say Robert Glasper just set a standard...and gave fire on this joint especially at the end! SMH!!!!
I don't even have to hear anything.. I just see this man's name on a video, and automatically hit "Like".
What an amazing artist, playting an amazing piece of kit!
Love the second groove and the ending Run 🏃♀️ was amazing Robert.
0.09- 1.10 that side gives me goosebumps. gosh!
0:52 to 1:00 on infinite replay!!! fire!
im looking for the name of the song
Intro sounded like a Jazzy intro to "Funny How Time Flies" by Janet Jackson.
slmeucalesa1 its the keys to the Name Drop Interlude on his new project with Kaytranada lol, crazy
Sometimes it's hard to believe that the sound isn't coming from hardware! :)
0:25 what song was that?
Robert Glasper - Calls. You're welcome :)
I thought he was about to play Lingus
I was just listening to Glasper's "ArtScience" this morning while driving, and I thought that he was missing from the KEYSCAPE sessions! hahaha you guys just read my mind.
Really good stuff! Thanks Spectrasonics!!!
NAME DROP INTERLUDE 0:01 - 0:20
Rhodes album please!
The title of the song From 0:46 - 1:18 "you always answer my calls"

MF Doom - Arrowroot
My favorite jazz pianist to date😎
How many pianists have you dated?
probably havent heard of cory henry i guess
people seem to overlook the first progression. brings TEARS TO MY EYES. Name drop interlude with kaytranada is one of the best glasper songs. Listen to it!
Guess I'm view 111,111... kind of cool... wait, maybe not.
What about Brad Mehldau?
That would be great!
Love these videos!
Beautiful sound Nice playing Glasper
Something just mysterious, mystical, and etheric, and most of all so soulful about the sound of a Fender Rhodes.
2:35
Hugely talented young man
Great vid! Next one to feature: Simon Grey. Just listen to TAKUMA and you will know why. His upcoming album will be legend!
Best keyscape ever besides herbie
Brilliant 💯💯💯💯
Song from 0:25 anyone??
MF Doom - Arrow Root
incredible
Eargasm 😍
name of the tune in 0:24 ?
What is?
Robert Glasper - Calls
Master at work
More, more!
MacBook Pro, Mainstage, all Spectrasonics libraries, NI Komplete ultimate, and you are blowing any hardware synth out of the water...plus you can build this rig overtime...hardware is cool too, but if it’s hard for you to get...remember the aforementioned option. Or you can build an iOS rig...they are now legit too.✌🏾
God, I love how his mind works. So musical and articulate. Wonderful playing.
This makes my soul happy :)
dope!
how
tf
Just love your sound
Omg 😭I️ aspire to be just as good as this guy
Can you make Legendary Rhodes MK5 from Chick Corea ? I mean it would be awesome if keyscape would have some special Legedendery pack.. with this Chick Corea's rhodes.. wish you all the best!
Very nice!
