    I've been detecting now for 44 years! Started with a basic C Scope then back in 1989 moved on to the Fisher 1266x. Finally bought the Deus 1, 11 years ago. I've only ever found 5 hammered and a few roman coins and they were in Yorkshire. Nothing in my neck of the woods in the North West. However, these kind of vids and England's History channel ( love Sid) keep me going. One day!

    I must admit this ring is stunning. 24k is ultra-rare. I have found a 22k bracelet once, but 24K (and with a diamond) is just next level. I wonder how she lost it... Fooling around in the fields?

    Well 2020 was a very nice year, I'm only just starting out and cuz I live on a small island theirs not much land but its split up between alot of owners so I'm struggling to secure permissions as I don't want to upset anyone, I have found some modern coins and a few other interesting pieces of metal, it's all fun while learning to use this machine as a total novice.

    i know its all about the finds and the love of it - some of these are amazing and i could watch for hours, but it would be interesting if alongside the item description after every find, there was an estimated value.

    • @manvfieldmetaldetectinguk6767
      @manvfieldmetaldetectinguk6767  3 роки тому

      I know where you're coming from. I put a rough value on most of the stuff I keep for insurance purposes but I'd never put them in the video if i'm honest.
      It could encourage the wrong type of people however that said, those that try and detect for the money quickly realise how hard it is to find anything of any real value. Yes it happens, but not as often as you think and it's certainly not worth quitting the day job.

    Do you just go to any old field or do you preselect them by choosing fields near old hill forts or green roads or similar.. I live in Dorset and want to take up metal detecting so I can get out and walk and we have lots of vey old locations and lots of fields so would appreciate some general guidance. Well done and thanks for the videos.Clive

    • @manvfieldmetaldetectinguk6767
      @manvfieldmetaldetectinguk6767  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Clive.
      I have a few local permissions where, after asking the landowners allowed me to detect their land. You can't just detect any field without the landowners consent (not the tenant, must be the owner of the land).
      But sure, once I have permission, I research the fields and can go to any desired field whenever I wish to assuming there's no livestock issues and the field is out of crop.
      If you just want to go detecting without obtaining permissions then you'll have to search the local beaches which are owned by the Crown Estates. Check the 'crown estate' website and it will tell you which beaches you can detect.

    • @clivecole5973
      @clivecole5973 3 роки тому +1

      @@manvfieldmetaldetectinguk6767 Thanks for taking time to reply. I understand about getting permission. I was asking about researching fields before you go detecting on them. What sort of research do you do before you go to increase your chances of finding something. For example, your roman field, did you know beforehand that you might find some roman stuff? Basically I'm looking for research resources.
      Cheers, Clive

Flame the weapon over barricades with cameras and everywhere. That’s my level as cryptologic linguist, human intelligence collector and commando. Evidently I’m never going to England in life.
