My Mom loved Portulaca. She always called them Moss Roses. They reseed quite easily. I have two growing in my garden that seeded themselves from last year’s plants. Love your channel!
I started cuttings in my hydroponic garden last fall and had flowers all winter. I transferred these plants outside come spring and started some new cuttings. Now i have many, many rock roses. I love them. ❤️
Thank you! I'm new to this flower/plant this year. Walmart had big beautiful hanging baskets on clearance for just $5 a basket and I purchased the remaining four baskets. They have been loving my sunny front porch. And they do exactly what you say: open and close. My husband rarely sees them open and the other day he commented: 'Oh...looks like they are about ready to bloom!' I had to tell him how they open/close with the sun.
My the rose moss portulacas are not doing too well. I live in the Arizona hot weather, and I have them in the sun all day. Is that to much sun? Also I understand the once a week watering and fertilizing, but should I fertilize and water at the same time and day or one day fertilize next day water?
Either the squirrels or deer ate down to the dirt just a day ago. I am so sad. I love my portulacca's, the roses are so colorful and bright. Would you think squirrels or deer, and what can I do to prevent this next year😢
No, they are annuals that grow, flower, and set seed in only one growing season. They do not survive frosts that you'd get in N. GA. It's possible you might be able to bring cuttings inside over the winter

Even this Texas heat is no competition for my moss roses! A favorite in this weather. Love that planter!
For sure! We love them too.
How much sun do yours get
What else flower grows in this heat in full sun 6 hours a day?

That's funny that he kept missing them opening!
Growing nicely in my hydroponic system!
Very nice.
Hi! Your collection in the basket is excellent. What fertiliser do you use weekly?
Thank you. We use our very own Beat Your Neighbor fertilizer. You can find it here: www.BeatYourNeighbor.com
South texas heat is the best for my portulaca! I have 3 huge pots with different moss roses.
They do great!
How often do you water? I bought 1 and put in a pot. Thanks❤
Working class people can never enjoy the nicer things in life :') Jokes aside, thank you for the great care guide!
Glad you enjoyed it!
LOVE this container for the portulacas! Where to purchase this particular one with the tripod?
We found this at one of our horticulture wholesale shows. Not sure where you could find one locally, but we love ours.
I love them. So beautiful😊
Thank you! 😊
I am crazy about them! In Arizona summers it blooms & waterfalls & some have wintered over into the next spring & regrows!
They are so great!

Either one will do their damage to them. We like to use Bonide Repels All to keep them away. You can find it here: amzn.to/44XJ8yJ
Hi there. Do grow lights help them stay open longer? Just got one today
So funny I thought I killed mine in the evening… but they were just “sleeping!”
That's funny!
😂 😂 happened to me this evening.
I’ve seen some portulaca’s on Pinterest that look like they climb, so do they and if I were to put some kind of a trellis, would that work?
We have never had any that do, so not familiar with them.
Sustainable yearly plant
Especially in snow winter
Thanks for sharing!
Nice video
Thank you!
can you tell me one more time what type of fertilizer you use?
Our Beat Your Neighbor fertilizer is available at www.BeatYourNeighbor.com
What kind of soil to plant them in? I put mine out in regular soil, first day blooms were out. 2nd day. Blooms are closed and it sunny. Help!

Should I cut this back if it’s getting too big?
Yes, if you need to trim it back to a manageable size.
Will they survive winter? I’m in North Georgia

Can it tolerate +37°C? (98°F)
In our greenhouses it gets over 120 degrees (F) so yes, they can handle the heat.
@@SharkeysFloralGreenhouses thank you
In the philippines we called magic rose😂❤
Good to know. Thank you.
Why do they draw sweat bees
Not sure on that. They just must be attracted to them.
