- While in Kashmir I got the chance to visit Pampore, the only region in Kashmir to produce the world's most expensive spice - Kashmiri saffron. Other countries to produce saffron include Iran and Spain, however Kashmiri saffron is considered to be the most expensive and have the highest grade. During my visit to Pampore I join Adil into his saffron fields to see the harvesting process and then head to his shop to learn more about this spice that can cost more than gold.

The God has gifted Kashmir with everything in premium category wheather it's landscape, spices, most expensive textile i.e,, shawls, cashew n nuts, water, mountains, snow and how can I forget "KASHMIRI's"
I’m so glad that you filmed this harvesting of saffron… it’s called “kòng” in Kashmiri language…we use it mostly to make our traditional teas called “Kahwa” and it’s also used in Kashmiri wazwan.
Im just proud that Kashmir is a part of our country and also lovable people ❤❤❤

After getting the gi tag status the rate of saffron has increased by 63% ....now 10gm of saffron is close 3500Rs !!
Yeah pricy stuff, did a check for price in Dutch supermarket and you pay €1,65 for 0.005 grams here… 😳😅

I don't know about the North African saffrons but between Kashmiri and Iranian saffrons, Kashmiri saffrons are very potent. That's why they're more expensive, I guess
