The actual historical battle is called the Battle of Stirling Bridge. I just call this scene the Battle of Stirling because for some reason they neglected to put in the actual BRIDGE.
They used the tactics of the battle of Bannockburn for stirling as Scotland wouldn't give permission for film to be made in Scotland so was shot in Ireland movie is incredibly inaccurate
Apparently a local asked Mel Gibson why there was no bridge used in the filming of the battle, and Mel said that the bridge got in the way. The local then smartly replied with an implication that it was pretty much for that very reason that the English lost the actual battle. I know that films based on history can't be 100% accurate with all that needs to be edited down and manipulated to tell a story, but in this case I think that was the wrong thing to do here (which pretty much goes for the whole film for that matter). I think the actual battle would've made for a far better sequence in this film than have the Scots beat the English just by smashing directly into them on an open field whilst believing in "freedom", despite being outnumbered and outdone in weapons and equipment. I know the cavalry were already disposed of with the spears (which to the film's credit did happen in the actual battle), but the English infantry alone were still more numerous and better equipped here.
@@slowpokerodriguez9907 I wouldn't go that far. Wdym the guy fighting against the horseman?
@@teacopem 3:26 top right, background man with sword in an orange English uniform. the scene has Alun Armstrong in the left on the white horse. The guy fake flips back and very unconvincingly retaliates.
I mean they're gonna have to be careful and not actually hurt anyone
MacDuff clan, here....since 850 AD.....living in remote Montana....retired US Army...
Keep in mind, as that one old dude is cheering on at the end of the battle, he just had his hand chopped off. Yes, I know its movie.

Alex Leaud ahh that would make the most sense lol

When Mel Gibson he is directing he is great a masterpiece!!!
Never underestimate the power of FREE MEN.
The sounds of the weapons grinding, the soldiers getting stabbed and sliced to death makes my blood curl.😧
I kept expecting ultimate warrior to do a press slam and splash but maybe he's saving that for the last battle
