I agree with most everything he says. Even though this video is dated about 8 years ago it's still relevant, and many casinos have tightened up their machines and made it much harder to win. The random generator chip can be changed to make certain slots looser or tighter its been proven. You need a bankroll and Luck to be able to win that hasn't changed!!!!!
Not true when it comes to luck...I win at slots almost every time I play. I am an advantage player and if you learn the tricks of the trade, you, too, would win. Knowledge is the key! Bankroll is not nearly as important in slots as it is in other forms of Advantage Play, such as Blackjack. You still need money, but not as much when playing slots.
Sorry but experience tells me that slot machines are no way completely random. If that was the case then they wouldn't be able to program in it's payout percentage. I've played many machines and guess what, when it's your last spin (from the money you've deposited) it usually falls on tempting line up; 2 bars, lets say, and one just missed. All to get you to feed in some more till the next last spin and the same happens again. This has happened too many times to be just coincidence.
As a computer chip designer, I can say that you are incorrect, but also kind of correct. A Random Number Generator is just that. However a random number between 1 and 10 will hit much more often than a random number between 1 and 10 million. If anything, the owner of the machine may change the odds, but not in a deterministic way otherwise.

I tend to disagree with you on casino's not changing the program to pay off. I notice the Bogata in AC run by MGM crooked organization especially the first three lines hardly match for a pay... and the activity is very quiet in the casino.. nobody is hitting... all of a sudden for about 10 minutes the casino gets loud with bells and people are hitting...then goes quiet again and all the gains or wins now are taken back... I believe there are several levels of programs on these machines and there is a master key perhaps on a timer to change these programs on all the machines simultaneously from no wins to soft wins to big wins... even though they have number generators...Computers can do amazing things.... even cheat the public which is what I see... Now here's the kicker, these machines guarantee a profit for the casino and a 80%+ payout to the players. Whether its a few pennies at a time or a few thousand dollars at a time. It will payout. So knowing when these machines will payout a bonus or jackpot is highly unpredictable. U can hit a bonus immediately after finishing a bonus. It does require luck to win. However, I did witness a guy hit a jackpot and neither him or his wife sitting next to him get excited about winning the jackpot. The wife casually just kept on playing her machine as if nothing happened. Did this couple know what it takes to win jackpots? Or did they just get lucky? They were max betting, but does it matter? Perhaps. But is it worth the risk? U decide.
You cannot win at slot machines unless you get lucky a couple times and never play again. The more you play the closer you will get to the programmed payout percentage, which is built in at the factory and set usually for the life of the machine. Slot machines are exactly like flipping a coin, you may get 9 out of 10 heads the first ten, but keep flipping and you will end up 50/50. Except slot machines are not 50/50, they are at best set at 99% payout, some as low as 60%. Meaning for every dollar you put in the odds say you can expect 60 to 99 cents back, the more times you play the closer you will get to these odds.

what your saying is true about changing ur pace but there is other things you can do and Im not going to tell my secret but I will appeal to your common sense. Theres not many factors that you can control when your playing and all you have is buttons and a lever. My hint is you can control the way the bets are delivered in relation to the spinning of the wheels. The machine may think your betting 3 but your betting 9 …..a last second change. That's all I'm at liberty to say and all I will say.

Been a solid slot player now for the last 12 years . before that i went to the casino maybe once every 2 ,3 yrs . There is a software interface that can be used to set a high/medium/low payout for the owners of these "underground illegal" game rooms, but the gaming commissions have authority over the public casinos, and they do run a tight ship over how machines are set up. They have software experts that randomly check the machine's functions, and there are limits as to how much percentage a casino can keep from their machines. It's all regulated by law.

The amount of BS surrounding slot machines is hilarious to me. 99% of them are ordered from the factory with a certain win percentage built in and are never changed for the life of the machine, the more you play, the more you will lose, the outcome of your pull is determined before you press the button every single time and the longer you sit there the closer you will get to the programmed win percentage, or as it should be called loss percentage. If the machine is set to pay out 90% you can expect 90 cents back for every dollar you put in.
When ever they start to explain how the slots work you know they are not going to tell you anything to help you win because they can not or do not know.
It is my understanding that if the slots are connected to a central computer the odds can be changed remotely. However, they aren't not allowed to do this if someone is playing it. They can only change the odds if the machine is idle. If the machine isn't connected to a central computer the Casino has to open the machine to change the odds. The biggest mistake slot players make is staying too long on a cold machine, thinking that it is "due to hit". That is rubbish. I just returned from Vegas very disappointed. It seems that the various casino's that I had played slots at are not following the Navada gaming laws with waiting for a slot machine to sit idle (w/no points on the meter) before changing (manipulating %) anything on it. It's not hard to notice when a slot is being manipulated if you know what to look for when playing it. They're all corrupt, even the gaming board apparently.
I will beg to differ with you, the thr random number generator RNG is NOT that random.. Ronald Dale Harris, former employee of the Nevada State Gaming Control Board found the RNGs were not random. He found he could predict the next set of number that would come up based on the current set. Making a ten way bet he had a 30% chance of predicting what the next RNG would select. He flew to New Jersey and on the first pay won $100,000.

Random number generator is a term for the chances of the machine winning NOT all the possible combinations with out repeating combinations I same row and column. If u did the math you would realize that something doesn't add up and did a ton of recordings (about 800-1000 for the 3x3 machine) and calc the chances of u getting 7 in all 3 rows and columns is unlikely although 700 dollars isn't much and a casino would be glad to pay u off to believe In the system to comeback again soon.

There is no such thing as a random number generator. It takes a seed number for it to work. I suspect an rng on slots use the date and time including miliseconds of when the machine is rebooted. Rng are used everyday and that's how we do it. That's also the way crypto currencies generate unique addresses

As someone that has been playing slots for about fifteen years, the bottom line to me is about your bankroll and how to utilize it to give yourself the best chance to win. Let's say you have a $1,000 for the trip. You can play the lower denomination machines ($1 or less) for a long time. However, as was stated the lower the denomination, the lower the payout percentage. Plus, in order to hit the maximum jackpot you need to play the maximum credits per spin. So, that nickel machine may be $2 a spin. Plus, if you play for hours, you get memorized by the spinning wheels. They offer you drinks, etc.so that people will act less rationally. So you go to the high limit room. If you play $5 Wheel of Fortune at two credits per, you are guaranteed 100 spins (plus whatever you hit). You may very well pick up a few hundred from a bonus spin or two. However, if you may only have enough money to play for fifteen or twenty minutes in there. Plus, if someone walks in with $1,000 and has $1,300 do they have the discipline to stop and walk away? If you are in town for a few days do you quit cold turkey for the rest of the time?? Lets say you play for a certain amount of time and break even. Can you stop?? If you break even you are a winner (especially if you earn comps from your play). Greed is your demon. If you had $1,000, won $300, then played back to $1,000, then lost the thousand the next day, you that's $1,300 you could have had. The best machines to play are too expensive for most peoples bankroll. In order to truly play a long session on a $5 machine or higher, you my have to bring $3,000 to $5,000. If you hit a hand pay it may very well not be enough to cover your losses. Bottom line is that people are greedy and don't have enough money to play, and they will run out of it before they are fortunate enough to end up in the black.
There was a time, not long ago, that you could win on the slots, 80-90% of the time. They were called Advantageous Slot machines. Most were made by IGT and these slots were the Vision Series with LCD screens just above the reels. I have walked out of various casinos with more money than I went in with. Lots more. All the casinos have removed these slots and replaced them with penny video machines UGH!

Hi SG ... honestly ... if the POPE told people how a slot machine worked -- there would be lots of people who wouldn't believe him. I know his information is generally accurate save for the points I made above. Yes, the payback can be selected by the casino -- but it takes millions of spins to arrive at that number. Over the short term, slot machine are generally very volatile, so the averages mean little.

Gary, just to bring you up to date: In Illinois & Missouri casinos they CAN and DO have that switch to change the % house edge. It can only be legally switched when the machine is not being actively played (not while a player is using it), and casinos can change mass amounts of slot machines on busy weekends to gain an additional 1-5%.
But you have to see what ones are set loose they have to set them that way to create adicts or casinos would go under. The truth in this way if you follow the money you can beat the casinos if you are careful but not the slots. I play every kind of slot when and if it is paying like it is loose. If you want to beat the slots you need to find a glitch. WMS had one in their Bonus Jackpot progressives 5 years ago. People could play for the max bet progressives on a minimum bet! I found a Bally game called Instant Riches that was a "quick hit" type game except they turned it on and the progression was set 100 times too fast. The $15 prize given for 5 symbols often was getting to $600! Also found a bank of 2cent Clover Gold by IGT where the mini/maxi turned on ten times higher than they should. Both of those worth $2000 an hour. Lastly I noticed a game called Cash Spin or USpin by Bally that had $1000 on minor instead of a $100 reset. Unfortunately didn't last long, customers burned that up. Tribal casinos screw up constantly.
He's right about the Random Number Generator and how it works. What he didn't tell you is that there really isn't anything call a penny slot machine. When you have to play 50 to 100 lines just to play they aren't penny slots. They are 50 cent or $1 machines. I remember when video slots started to appear that you could play 9 cents on a penny slot. 9 lines...so $20 would go quite far and it was entertainment.
They’re penny in that each credit bet is one penny. It’s just that most don’t go lower than 50 credits minimum bet though. There are still a few where you can place extremely low bets like 10 cents but very few and far in between. Some multi line machines you can choose less line and bet lower too. The downside to that is you will miss some hits that you would have gotten betting all lines.
I agree with "A". A random number generator Cannot be random. That would require artificial intelligence. I has none. It has to be an algorithm that takes into account certain factors. Factor one is it has to take in more money than it pays out. This is calculated not random. so there has to be a processor that keeps track of it. This would tell the non randomly, random number generator what to have for the outcome of the next spin. Best thing to do is to go and buy a slot machine and figure it .Then we can find out how these machines are manipulated and programmed.
While you are somewhat correct, the reality is that random number generators are not exactly random, as they usually perform a modulus (remainder of a divide based from a seed number) operation. However if a mod of a base number is saved and used as a seed, and another mod is performed on the 'random' seed, a very undeterministic value is achieved. Ive designed such rngs for testing radiation effects on spacecraft electronics for more than a decade, and so far, no failures on my HW in space :)

Sorry but experience tells me that slot machines are no way completely random. If that was the case then they wouldn't be able to program in it's payout percentage. I've played many machines and guess what, when it's your last spin (from the money you've deposited) it usually falls on tempting line up; 2 bars, lets say, and one just missed. A Random Number Generator is just that. However a random number between 1 and 10 will hit much more often than a random number between 1 and 10 million. If anything, the owner of the machine may change the odds, but not in a deterministic way otherwise.

You cannot win at slot machines unless you get lucky a couple times and never play again. The more you play the closer you will get to the programmed payout percentage, which is built in at the factory and set usually for the life of the machine. Slot machines are exactly like flipping a coin, you may get 9 out of 10 heads the first ten, but keep flipping and you will end up 50/50. Except slot machines are not 50/50, they are at best set at 99% payout, some as low as 60%. Meaning for every dollar you put in the odds say you can expect 60 to 99 cents back, the more times you play the closer you will get to these odds.

The amount of BS surrounding slot machines is hilarious to me. 99% of them are ordered from the factory with a certain win percentage built in and are never changed for the life of the machine, the more you play, the more you will lose, the outcome of your pull is determined before you press the button every single time and the longer you sit there the closer you will get to the programmed win percentage, or as it should be called loss percentage. If the machine is set to pay out 90% you can expect 90 cents back for every dollar you put in.

He found he could predict the next set of number that would come up based on the current set. Making a ten way bet he had a 30% chance of predicting what the next RNG would select.

Random number generator is a term for the chances of the machine winning NOT all the possible combinations with out repeating combinations I same row and column. If u did the math you would realize that something doesn't add up and did a ton of recordings (about 800-1000 for the 3x3 machine) and calc the chances of u getting 7 in all 3 rows and columns is unlikely although 700 dollars isn't much and a casino would be glad to pay u off to believe In the system to comeback again soon.

Slots use virtual reels -- which could be hundreds of symbols each -- the physical reel or video image you see is just a depiction of the potential outcomes. It is possible they do not repeat the random numbers (because each card in a series needs to be unique).

There is no such thing as a random number generator. It takes a seed number for it to work. I suspect an rng on slots use the date and time including miliseconds of when the machine is rebooted. Rng are used everyday and that's how we do it. That's also the way crypto currencies generate unique addresses

As someone that has been playing slots for about fifteen years, the bottom line to me is about your bankroll and how to utilize it to give yourself the best chance to win. Let's say you have a $1,000 for the trip. You can play the lower denomination machines ($1 or less) for a long time. However, as was stated the lower the denomination, the lower the payout percentage. Plus, in order to hit the maximum jackpot you need to play the maximum credits per spin. So, that nickel machine may be $2 a spin. Plus, if you play for hours, you get memorized by the spinning wheels. They offer you drinks, etc.so that people will act less rationally. So you go to the high limit room. If you play $5 Wheel of Fortune at two credits per, you are guaranteed 100 spins (plus whatever you hit). You may very well pick up a few hundred from a bonus spin or two. However, if you may only have enough money to play for fifteen or twenty minutes in there. Plus, if someone walks in with $1,000 and has $1,300 do they have the discipline to stop and walk away? If you are in town for a few days do you quit cold turkey for the rest of the time?? Lets say you play for a certain amount of time and break even. Can you stop?? If you break even you are a winner (especially if you earn comps from your play). Greed is your demon. If you had $1,000, won $300, then played back to $1,000, then lost the thousand the next day, you that's $1,300 you could have had. The best machines to play are too expensive for most peoples bankroll. In order to truly play a long session on a $5 machine or higher, you my have to bring $3,000 to $5,000. If you hit a hand pay it may very well not be enough to cover your losses. Bottom line is that people are greedy and don't have enough money to play, and they will run out of it before they are fortunate enough to end up in the black.

There was a time, not long ago, that you could win on the slots, 80-90% of the time. They were called Advantageous Slot machines. Most were made by IGT and these slots were the Vision Series with LCD screens just above the reels. I have walked out of various casinos with more money than I went in with. Lots more. Hi SG ... honestly ... if the POPE told people how a slot machine worked -- there would be lots of people who wouldn't believe him. I know his information is generally accurate save for the points I made above. Yes, the payback can be selected by the casino -- but it takes millions of spins to arrive at that number. Over the short term, slot machine are generally very volatile, so the averages mean little.

Gary, just to bring you up to date: In Illinois & Missouri casinos they CAN and DO have that switch to change the % house edge. It can only be legally switched when the machine is not being actively played (not while a player is using it), and casinos can change mass amounts of slot machines on busy weekends to gain an additional 1-5%.
But you have to see what ones are set loose they have to set them that way to create adicts or casinos would go under. The truth in this way if you follow the money you can beat the casinos if you are careful but not the slots. I play every kind of slot when and if it is paying like it is loose. Like the guy said the casinos all have the feature to set the payout of the machines, so they only set a few loose ones when you know or see a loose wait your turn and bet high to win big. Use your systems to check if you do not have them create them.
If you want to beat the slots you need to find a glitch. WMS had one in their Bonus Jackpot progressives 5 years ago. People could play for the max bet progressives on a minimum bet! I found a Bally game called Instant Riches that was a "quick hit" type game except they turned it on and the progression was set 100 times too fast. The $15 prize given for 5 symbols often was getting to $600! Also found a bank of 2cent Clover Gold by IGT where the mini/maxi turned on ten times higher than they should. Both of those worth $2000 an hour. Lastly I noticed a game called Cash Spin or USpin by Bally that had $1000 on minor instead of a $100 reset. Unfortunately didn't last long, customers burned that up. Tribal casinos screw up constantly.

He's right about the Random Number Generator and how it works. What he didn't tell you is that there really isn't anything call a penny slot machine. When you have to play 50 to 100 lines just to play they aren't penny slots. They are 50 cent or $1 machines. I remember when video slots started to appear that you could play 9 cents on a penny slot. 9 lines...so $20 would go quite far and it was entertainment.
They’re penny in that each credit bet is one penny. It’s just that most don’t go lower than 50 credits minimum bet though. There are still a few where you can place extremely low bets like 10 cents but very few and far in between. Some multi line machines you can choose less line and bet lower too. The downside to that is you will miss some hits that you would have gotten betting all lines.

I agree with "A". A random number generator Cannot be random. That would require artificial intelligence. I has none. It has to be an algorithm that takes into account certain factors. Factor one is it has to take in more money than it pays out. This is calculated not random. so there has to be a processor that keeps track of it. This would tell the non randomly, random number generator what to have for the outcome of the next spin. Best thing to do is to go and buy a slot machine and figure it .Then we can find out how these machines are manipulated and programmed.
r n g is also a myth. machines are pre programed to pay out when enough money has come in.

While you are somewhat correct, the reality is that random number generators are not exactly random, as they usually perform a modulus (remainder of a divide based from a seed number) operation. However if a mod of a base number is saved and used as a seed, and another mod is performed on the 'random' seed, a very undeterministic value is achieved.
Ive designed such rngs for testing radiation effects on spacecraft electronics for more than a decade, and so far, no failures on my HW in space :)

@@mrsmith1008 The RNG is NOT a myth. These moderns machines have more than one way they are set to pay out. Some of them have an interface available only to the owner/manager/techs, that allow them to look and many statistics about the machine, as well as set the machine to pay out on a high/medium/low basis. In recent years, they have networked all the machines together, with the RNG numbers coming from a central server.
