I was thinking of something similar. My second thought was that it would be all pictures taken from the porch. I do wonder.
I would love to see if a sort of kids game with words and pictures would help the three to say what they feel and answer questions.
I worry that they're all going to be committed if anything happens to the older sister. They would probably all follow quickly. Jesus, this all just guts me.

The look that Lorraine made when he said she looked good despite having a heart attack was so touching. She looked like she was about to cry over the compliment. Makes you wonder how many people have made fun of them for how they look and behave over the years. It just goes to show that despite their condition they still are human. They feel the same pain as anyone else does. These people have hearts of gold.

The manner in which Mark engaged them in conversation reminds me of when my grandmother was suffering from dementia after a horrible stroke.
She lost her attention span, and it was nearly impossible to talk about anything other than the here and now.
When Mark asks Betty some probing questions like "what was your childhood like?" / "can you tell me about your parents?" / "any words of wisdom?" / "favorite memories?" / "what are Ray's interests?" / "what do you do in a typical day?", she'll look like she's processing and thinking.
Then she'll respond without any substance: "not much", "not really", "no", without elaboration. Very surface level: need to keep it at "oh, you look healthy!" / "oh, it's so nice out!" / etc

They may not know much, but it’s abundantly clear that they know love. They know love and they know one another, the value of family and devotion. This also goes to show that with some patience, you can communicate with anyone, all you both need is a desire to reach understanding. Ray reminds me so much of my uncle that passed in December. He couldn't speak either and just made sounds and grunts but man was he talkative. Very expressive. He did know a bit of sign language. Always happy and had a great memory. You could meet him once and not see him again until 10 or 15 years down the line and he'd laugh and hug you like a dear friend. I miss him so much

You really are doing something amazing here. I admit I had a certain thought process about this going in, but my eyes have been opened a bit. I'd hang out with Ray and Timmy if I lived closer and they'd be open to a new visitor.
