- Parallel parking (or curb parking) is one of the driving test maneuvers. Learn how to parallel park close to the curb from parallel parking experts. This short video shows a simple procedure for parallel parking between two cars that involves using reference points. According to these points, the driver can turn the steering wheel at the right moment and can easily parallel park the car. Please note that this method of parallel parking is only suitable for short parking spaces, so you will learn how to park in a tight spot.
This parallel parking tutorial will help you to park perfectly every time and easily pass your driving test (DMW test, road test or practical driving test). Learn the easiest method of reverse parallel parking by Parking Tutorial!

i find the hardest part of parallel parking ain’t parking itself. but the pressure from cars behind you. their stare their impatience. plus they try to squeeze beside you to move out of way
Just take your time, they can’t do anything to you. During a test this should be the last thing you should be worried about when parallel parking, it’s your test just focus on the parking and make sure you don’t hit anything or anyone.
That's what makes me nervous because you're suppose to drive the speed limit on the test, but people usually go 5 above the limit and they'll get mad at you for being slow.
The Devil Himself same, I really hate. I’m following the rules of the speed limits, but some people are just assholes when they’re behind me.
@Ray
How is a hatchback harder to park lmao
@Wes Rogers
Well I wouldn't know about scooters, I drive motorbikes and have no trouble with parking, but I can see how it might be more difficult with a scooter.
A hatchback has a giant window in the back and no extra length you need to calculate like the boot, it's way easier to park than a saloon.
This is by far the best video ever! I watched it about 2-3 times and got the movements down. I practiced literally 5 times yesterday before my test and got in the spots perfectly each time! I TOOK MY TEST TODAYYY AND I PASSED ON THE FIRST TRY!!! Thank you so much!! Good Luck To Everyoneeee!

Just passed my driver's test, and this single video made the formerly-most-intimidating part of it an absolute cakewalk. Excellent tutorial!
This is great! My parents wouldn’t let me get my license until I could parallel park, change a tire and drive a standard transmission. My first car was a Jeep Wrangler, an old one! Not a new, fancy one!
My dad parked my his and my mom’s cars in front of the house and made me parallel park 100 times. I’m grateful that they were tough on me and made me learn everything because I was a pretty good driver even as a 16 year old.
Pretty much like mine 😅
Want a cookie? Lol jk
Everyone knows how to drive on roads its easy. Whats challenging is keeping your focus on the road learning essential things like parking, parallel parking, diagonal parking, judging the distance incorrectly between you and other cars (i see alot of new ppl doing this), not knowing when to use turn signals etc
I did the same thing with my parents cars in front of the house. I went out to practice parallel parking this morning, and I'm doing it again tomorrow right before I have my test. I'm very nervous but also know it'll be easy and I'm confident in my driving abilities. I've definitely practiced more then most people, hope I pass!

Omg I was so nervous about the test I practiced parallel parking in first person gta 5 LOL

For real. The neighbors don't need to see how embarrassing my parking is
I swear they make it like the most important part of the road test in PA. After making sure you know how to operate your car controls, the very next part is parallel parking. If you hit an upright, mount the curb, or take more than 3 times to get in the rectangular space, you fail the entire test. I never had parallel parking on my road test many years ago, thank goodness. It was a LONG time before I learned how to parallel park.
I never bothered to do a parallel parking. But I always told myself that I have to study and practice it. I never thought I will take me less than 3 minutes to learn it. Now, I love it ❤
I watched this video and understand everything clearly. I passed my driver's test in 2019, so thank you for this video! It is definitely going to help millions.

This is the easiest technique I’ve found to parallel park.
1. Get as close to the car you’re going to park behind without scratching it.
2. Make sure your side mirror lines up with the other car’s side mirror.
3. Put your car in reverse, and turn the steering wheel 360 degrees right.
4. Let your foot off the brake and then stop when your side mirror lines up the car’s taillights.
5. Then, turn all the way to the left and let your foot off the brakes until your car is parallel to the curb.
Do you have to use directional signal for parallel park for drive test?

After 6 years of driving and not being able to parallel parking between two cars, your video has helped me park correctly! I watched other videos but i wasnt able to do it! Thanks so much! 🙏

After 6 years of driving and never learning to parallel park, it ruined my experience driving. I always felt like a loser not able to parallel park. Finally I found this video and I was finally able to do it! It's so easy now I can't believe I waited so long to look this up, thank you so much for this video you changed my life!!!
My problem with parallel park is the space i have. Sometimes the space is small so i try to do it anyways but i keep feeling that i might bump into the car.
I have this probleme. Bc I don't have so much time to look in the mirror to see everything. I need to be speedy. Bc there are more cars behind you
I've been driving for 6+ years as well, and still not confident about parallel parking at all. Sure, I've done it a couple of times whenever I have a passenger next to me that lets me know exactly when to turn, if I have space, etc... But by myself it's just so difficult. The steps are just too confusing and they vary a lot depending on: The space you have, size of the vehicle you're using as a reference point, etc, etc... I guess I'm also just very anxious and when I have cars behind me or people looking it makes me perform far worse.
Love the underachievers 🤙🏽
@@MJubeily NYC parking... always limited space
I feel so stupid looking at this video. I never got it parked ever, even though I cleared my driving test. During my driving test, I hit the cone and I believe the officer didn't notice and fortunately cone didn't fall down either. I am going to try this soon to see if I can park correctly.
We're all born stupid. Staying stupid will only end in a short life. So don't be afraid, i believe in you!
I had my road test today and I still didn’t have a good way to parallel park. I saw this video multiple times and went to try it on my road test for it to work like a charm. Thank you!

IKR. Does anyone actually parallel park after getting their license? It's like learning cursive in school. A meaningless thing to learn...
1 Survivor I write in cursive...
But honestly, It all depends on where you go.. I went to a urban DMV where everyone literally didn’t care and I didn’t have to park I just drove in a square and I passed.
@@Mecduhall91 I want that DMV. Also anyone who normally writes in cursive is sent to the brig
When I went for my driving test, during the parallel parking sequence, I pulled up to the car but another car was behind me and started honking when I was reversing and tried cutting into the park space that the instructor told me to go. Then the other person in the vehicle came out and gave me an ear full and the instructor told him that I was in a test but he didn't care or went away so the instructor called the cops and they came and told the guy to move along which he finally did after flipping me off and we went back to the test center, reversed parked into the parking space and gave me a pass lol.
Mitchell Toulouse lmao lucky
people are so shitty sometimes
Wow that sucks. In Austin, as far as I know, all parallel parking is done in a module. As in they have some silicon poles in an isolated area, about 20 feet apart and you just go for it as if there were cars
bullshit
You actually had to parallel park inbetween two cars!?
I know this is an old video, but I had to let you know that this was a great reminder on how to parallel park! Great thorough instruction! I've been helping a younger guy I work with get ready for his G2 and that has been very helpful!
whenever someone doesn't know how to parallel park, I send them this video and it always fixes the problem. I love how it is universal no matter the length of the vehicle your driving or lining up next to, unlike some strategies that seem like they will only work if using vehicles of the same length. Simply perfect.
But please, doesn't this depend on how the right/left side mirror are placed ??
Did a mock driver's test in gta. Successfully got my San Andreas License.

Who needs feet, you could just crawl I guess...
You need to do for the test
Really only usefull if you live in a city, not sure why its a nation-wide requirement

Just taught my niece from Florida who now lives in NY this method, and she got it after 2 tries! This vid is awesome!
Thanks for this tutorial! I failed my first road test because of my absolutely terrible parallel park and because I forgot to turn right on a red light. This seems more simple to remember the cues than the parallel parking method I was taught before. Time to practice until I nail this one! My goal is to get at least 5 successful parallel parks in a row before my next road test.
I get more nervous with the thought of having to parallel park than resuscitating a dying patient (I'm a nurse).

I can never tell how much room I have behind me. Always scared I'm going to hit the car then I get out and literally have 6 feet behind me.
Edit: it's been about 2 years since I posted this comment. I still suck at parallel parking.
I struggle to figure out how much room I have behind me plus my right side lol So stressful
I'm always afraid the front right side of my car is gonna hit the back left side of the car in front of me when I do that initial reverse right turn into the space.
Happens to me every time. I am short so struggle is real.
This exactly happened to me the first time I tried my road test 😪 I wussed out getting scared of hitting the cones when I had legit space to just back it up in reverse right. Would've had a good chance of passing cause they only really care for the person getting inside the parking space, and parking(when it comes to this lol of course).
Hopefully I pass now since I've gotten further practices in. 🤞🏼💯
Did you manage to pass it since? :)
I tried this once without watching a tutorial beforehand, I embarrassed myself so badly that I dropped it and drove away. After watching this, I'm pretty sure I can manage now. Thanks a lot
Today I tried this 4 times. it worked every time! I'm very happy. Finally I have a solid method after so much confusion. Thank you.

Very helpful, but step 1 should be to signal before parking ! :)
Hi loveyoumothermonster - you are absolutely right! The first step as you're approaching the space should be to mirror, signal, shoulder check to the right and position the vehicle 3' (1 metre) from the vehicle off which you're going to park. Stop--as they say in the video--so you can see the rear of the parked vehicle through the small window at the rear of you vehicle. Immediately upon stopping and positioning your vehicle, put your vehicle into reverse to activate the reverse lights so that other traffic know--via your turn signal and reverse lights--that you are parallel parking. Al the best, Cheers Rick

If you can parallel park in NYC, you can parallel park anywhere.. Unless you're on a hill in SF. Kudos to you peeps. I'm amazed at your skills to park on a steep hill like that.
Dont u turn ur wheel away from the curb when parked on a hill?
If you're parallel parked on an uphill incline and the curb is to your right, you would turn your tires to the left (away from the curb) just in case your parking brake fails, your tires will hit the curb as soon as your car starts rolling backward, which should stop your car from rolling downhill.
If you're parallel parked on a downhill decline and the curb is to your right, you would turn your tires to the right (toward the curb) just in case your parking brake fails, your tires will hit the curb as soon as your car starts rolling forward, which should stop your car from rolling downhill.
Good luck everyone taking their road tests. Hopefully this technique will help me pass my road test as well!!
I got my driving license two years ago. I live in a small town where I never had to use pararell parking until I started working in a bigger city. There I must pararell park. The first time I tried many times and failed, I ended up my driving much further so that I could just park in a simple way (perpendicular parking) but that parking place was not free of charge. The second day, I watched this video right before I went to work. I wanted to park at that free parking spot. I was worried I won't be able to park in pararell even after watching the video. But guess what... I parked right away, first time! I couldn't believe it, I was so happy. I had as much space as shown in the video though. I'm not sure if I'd manage with less space. But this video gave me hope. Thank you! 🌹
Thank you so much. This video is very clear and straight forward without random extra blabbering and you point out clear definitive ways to know when exactly to do the next step rather than telling us to guess. And the illustrations are great and very helpful. Thanks.

most parking space will be much smaller
zxn6869 true, but if you have to parallel park for your driving test the space they give you is about this length
Hi tobin heath - you're right, if they do make you parallel park between two vehicles, the space is 11/2 vehicle lengths. For most road tests, you won't park between vehicles, you'll only park behind a vehicle, or the licensing centre will have posts set up that the licensee will park off. All the best, Cheers Rick
Which is why 10 out of 10 people I know never do this shit lol
but the steps in the video help a LOT especially when in a tight spot. I got comfortable parallel parking way before backing into a stall, because I found the cues to be helpful. I've been driving for maybe a year and yesterday got in and out of a very small spot easily.

This is one of the best tutorial on youtube which is one's can learn on the spot without overthinking
Have seen so many methods of reverse parallel parkings but this one that I always used is the best and works every time even in tight spots. After you aligned parallel with the car in front, just reverse and turn accordingly until the kerbside headlight of the car behind appear at the corner of your car rear in your car side rear mirror (on your left side if you park reverse to the right & on your right if you reverse to the left). Then jusr reverse straight backward until the front of your car clears the back of the car in front. Then steer your wheel in the appropriate direction (left or right depending on where the parking space is) and position your car nicely between the space.
This was my driving test:
Instructor: ok, imagine there are two cars here. Parallel park.
Me: where are the ends of the cars?
Instructor: *IMAGINE THERE ARE TWO CARS HERE. PARALLELL PARK*
I mean if there are no ends just pulls through
For my test we have to use cones. Its absolute bullshit. It makes it harder when you've practiced using actual cars and then they expect you to do it perfectly with cones.
