Do you really want to know him more? Are you certain that you really understand the words spoken rather than just have an emotional "feel good" attitude about SELF? Most Christians have an "inward" expression of love, compassion, mercy, grace, but they hardly ever look "outward" at the souls around them dying in their sins and do not even have a heart to open their mouths and tell them about Jesus Christ, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." (James 2:17)!
Do you know what it will cost you? It will cost you YOUR LIFE. That bible says, "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death (Philippians 3:10). Did you notice that in order to "know him", you must conform yourself unto HIS death, for again the scriptures remind us, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).
Well, fellow Christian, are you living a CRUCIFIED life? The way you know it is quite simple. What happened when you were truly saved was an "operation of God" that put you into Jesus Christ, for "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? and therefore as the Holy Ghost stated, "I die daily".
That ministration unto death leads to one conclusion that most Christians avoid which are persecutions, afflictions, troubles, distresses, being cast down, offscouring of the world so that "we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh" (2 Corinthians 4:11).
Do you know why they killed Jesus Christ? Because he manifest as the God-man that character of ever showing men their sins while he himself lived a life that they could not live, APART from knowing the Lord God! That is what is expected of you, Christian, that your life is characteristic of a holy, blameless and faithful life by which "the world is crucified unto me and I unto the world". If you live that life, by the testimony of your mouth in righteousness and truth, and your walk that testifies of that, the world will HATE you for Jesus Christ testified, "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you." (John 15:18)
When was the last time you been HATED for Jesus Christ? When was the last time you lived out "the afflictions of the gospel" (2 Timothy 1:8)? When was the last time it COST you something to stand for the Lord Jesus Christ?
So, brethren, do not sit around "in your camp" like a social club, but put on the whole armour of God so that "We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day." (1 Corinthians 4:10,13).
Will you do it so it is true of you, "Oh, I want to know Him more" in his death and resurrection!
