Enter at 9:30 am , break at 10:30 am, Going to lunch at 12:30 pm , actual lunch at 1:00 pm, ping pong games at 1:30 pm, more breaks, meetings with mentors at 4:00 pm, leave at 5:30 pm, get drunk at 6:00 pm. While, some obscure Amazon worker in an more obscure warehouse, is working a 12 hour shift and can't go to the bathroom.
Honestly I can't code for more than 4 hours straight without literally getting vertigo so I always wondered how they even work 8 hour days. Not to say it isn't a cushy job.

A lot of waiting, It took me a year to get the job I work at currently. Best advice, keep your options open don't put all your eggs into one basket cos sometimes they don't even say you didn't get the job.

@@hlbgghj Very hard to answer! If you want to follow the traditional route, you'll first have to get a degree which will take you around 3-4 years. During that period you could possibly already get an internship at a such companies by building up a portfolio of personal projects.

I remember a guy coming into my college that worked at Amazon, telling us how he made programs that gamify work for factory workers essentially pitting them against each other. I just remember all of us wondering how he sleeps at night.
It has a massive image problem and probably repulses a lot of new workers but it actually helps you mentally get through the monotony of the work. It is all optional and you can play non competitive single player games.

Sure! It's definitely great practice for coding interviews and it helps your algorithmic thinking in general, which is always a skill employers are looking for.
It’s not a requirement to specialize, neither is it a necessity. As long as you know a couple of languages and have a good sense of logic & algorithms you’re good. I can highly recommend diving deep into web though, as a lot of FAANG software work is focussed around something web related.
Intern positions will likely stay open, but there is a hiring freeze at the moment, so getting a return offer after the internship might be harder. Also depends on the team you're interning in, mostly the Alexa team is affected by layoffs from what I've heard.

Or you can work at home, no one is watching you anyway. The main thing is to complete tasks on time.

Nope, learnt TypeScript and React on my own in my free time, and I hadn't worked with AWS before joining Amazon, so I learnt that during my internship
