That doesn't matter, What matters is evidence. She didn't have proof she was speeding, all she had was her word saying "I had to go up to 93 to catch her". Edit: I missed the part that GA law states the officer can use their visual to gauge a drivers speed. That's insane to me
@@santrader1707 maybe get half of a clue before you comment? An actual radar gun isn’t required to stop someone for speeding. There’s such thing as General Speed Law. @@InDatParish In my state, a police officer must also provide evidence which corroborates the officers opinion that you were speeding which is backed by the use of a speeding radar. Heck, a fast walk is anywhere from 2 to 5 MPH approximately (not a run). In a way I am glad that they do not act on word of mouth aside from watching for the suspect to see if he or she is really at that speed. We are human and we all make mistakes. These mistakes need correction through learning from them. Precisely, the 90 mph rhetoric means absolutely nothing. She could have driven at 110 mph to catch up, the only difference would have been she caught up in less time.

Wow! As a retired officer, this is ridiculous. They are doing nothing but compounding any difficulties this young lady may be having. A citation would have been sufficient.
Citations for speeding are more than sufficient...usually, warnings are better. Reckless Driving is more problematic, the logic being if their actions were so dangerous to merit the stop its a hard sell to say they should be released to continue. If they burn around the next corner and kill someone it would be a great case against the department that they contributed to the harmful act. All that being said, how this was conducted was pretty sub-par police work.
But the author of the video will not make opposite videos where the cops are right probably. :)))) Clickbait videos work better for popularity of the channel. I disagree. The margin of excess should come into play. A citation is sufficient for slightly over the limit, but a dramatic infringement increases the danger to peoples lives and should be treated more seriously. The fact that you failed to consider this makes me doubt your credibility. Flipping a coin whether to let her go was actually the officer willing to be lenient. The woman should have faced the full force of the law without question. Letting her go would have been an act of leniency that had not been earned.

Police have qualified immunity from lawsuits that requires that there be specific legal precedent in that jurisdiction that condemns that specific conduct by the police showing that a reasonable officer should have known that her conduct was a civil rights violation. I was charged back in 1982, in the UK, with doing 60 mph in a 40 limit. I went to court having measured the road distances and showed that, if I was doing 40, the cop had to average (not max) 60 mph to catch me. If I had actually been doing 60 - he'd need to average (again, not max) 135 mph - in a vehicle with a rated top speed of 118... Back in those days, two officers opinions, or one and a calibrated speedometer, were enough to charge. Edit - found not guilty and awarded costs, against the police.

This is why body cams should be required on all officers, these people showed they are not suitable for the job. The person apologised for speeding, a ticket and "take care and drive safe" would be good enough and nothing would of gotten to where it did. Edit: my brain damage was happy with "good to have" over required for the body cams.
There was no way to know what the speed was she was going.. just because she had to do 80 to 85 to catch up with her means nothing if you don't know how long after she passed the cop pulled out or how fast the cop was initially going or accelerating... Letting a cop determine your speed without a device invites corruption.
@@bottlerocket3218 She should sue the officers and the entire police department. Make such a wave they change the law and require radar or some other accurate method of speed determination. It is super easy to exaggerate on a thing like that. On the highway I always see people who seem to whiz right past me. I am aware they might be moving maybe 5 or 10 MPH more than me. I also believe that if any device in her vehicle was monitoring her speed a jury would not be needed so much or that said jury would be compelled to consider ALL of that evidence, lest they undermine the judicial system and the trust placed in it.
@@bottlerocket3218 you act as if there are normal everyday citizens asking for the right for cops to choose. the only people fighting for this right are people who or ill informed or cops who wanna take ya off the street cause they see something diffrent

RADAR really is not quantitive. Everything from cosign error to which vehicle/reflection is the instrument reading. Biggest issue in this case is the officer's biased perception of the speed.

Speeding has always been their biggest racket in Ga.
you're funny if you think this is exclusive to GA.
Just another tool they use to fleece citizens.
If I'm on a jury and the officer says, "She was going 80 or 85. I had to go 90 to catch her." I'm completely disregarding any estimate from that officer. Simple math says 85 is not possible.
