Awesome video. cmd+j is so much easier to press compared to control + tilde; love it! I also had no clue about the cmd + p to quickly search for a file.
One nice thing I've enjoyed is being able to Ctrl-Click a file name in a Python exception message and it jumps not just to that file, but to the line from the error message as well. So clever!
Quick mnemonic device: cmd+b opens the "bide" and cmd+j opens the jottom, or jerminal, if that's easier for you to remember! Leave it to Microsoft for that intuitive UX.
It works on my windows pc, but testing on linux laptop didn't seem to work. I would guess it has to do something with the physical keyboard fn keys (its defaulting to 'home' or 'end' on mine)
I use vim in sublime, most of the features you mentioned here are in build in VIM. VS code also has a VIM plugin just give it a try, and you'll just love it. But there is a steep learning cure to it, but it's worth it.
This is the first VS code tips based video of the hundreds that I have ever watched in my saved later section. Keep your good work. Only tip is don't embedd your face into the tutorials, it's too gorgeous and I have difficulty focusing on the code. 😂 Jokes apart, you deserve the subscription. Thanks.

As of Visual Studio Code version 0.10.9, you can now do a Create Multiple Cursors from Selected Lines by selecting multiple lines, and pressing Shift+Alt+I no need to install Additional plugin
You can add cursor on multiple lines by holding down option shift and dragging down, you can use the same to add cursor to end of lines by dragging till the line end.
Everyone seems to use ctrl + shift + p to open command palette. I'm pretty sure I never made a modification and just use F1 instead, soo much easier to hit 👍
Harry, I want to like this video but I am obviously missing something that must be obvious to others. I have been looking all over my Keyboard for the CMD key??????? LOL
@@hswolff Oh ok, perhaps it is just the room then. It sounds a bit reverbish/echoish to me. Like you're a bit distant and not super crisp. It could just be me!

Harry, when selecting multiple parts with Ctrl + D, you can skip unwanted ones with Ctrl + K.

Awesome video. cmd+j is so much easier to press compared to control + tilde; love it! I also had no clue about the cmd + p to quickly search for a file.
Yaaasss!!! The learnings increase!
Awesome tips!
I’ve always procrastinated searching for those keyboard shortcuts.
One nice thing I've enjoyed is being able to Ctrl-Click a file name in a Python exception message and it jumps not just to that file, but to the line from the error message as well. So clever!
In addition to Option + up/down to move a line up or down, you can hold Shift at the same time to copy the current line up or down.
😱 that’s awesome! Thank you Sarah!
Great content Harry. You can insert multiple cursors at the end of every line without plugin by pressing SHIFT + ALT + I
Aha! So you can!! Lovely, thank you!
Cool
I came to comment section to find a good comment on the siren in background, couldnt find one

you can add cursor in line up or down with "ctr + alt +up" or "ctr + alt + down"
Yes! No extension required!
:o It's not working for me? Maybe I have a different keybindings installed?

Ram Bhosale worth it no doubt
I use Vim in VS Code. I know you can do the Ctrl + D trick with "gb", but do you know how it is possible to skip lines like you can with Ctrl + K?

Multiline tip is very cool!!!
Stellar! I remeber you mentioning you were considering making a guide to VSCode back in the podcast days. Really hyped for this one 😎
Did it live up to expectations?!
Great video !! It should be a must to master our tools to be more productive doing our work.
I agree! It helps me be so much more productive!
You're using Yarn? Do you see significant advantages of that over npm? Or, is it just what you got used to?
Over time I've found Yarn to just be more reliable and faster than npm. I have higher confidence in yarn than npm nowadays.

Awwww yeaaah!!! So glad you like! I had a lot of fun making it :D
You can place your cursor in multiple places by Alt clicking. Do you know if there's a keyboard equivalent?
You can add cursor on multiple lines by holding down option shift and dragging down, you can use the same to add cursor to end of lines by dragging till the line end.
@@zameeebasha Thanks for that. I'm on Windows and neither Alt Shift nor Ctl Shift with arrow key works for me. :(
Ah yes, forgot about that one! So good!
I messed up my titlebar color in visual studio code. Can you recommend a perfect color for a dark theme??

2. Kind suggestion: get a better microphone for your vids :)
Hah thanks! I actually have a fairly good mic, curious what sounds off to you? It may be the room I’m in, it’s fairly echoey.

Cmd + shift + k deletes a line without copying it. But it’s a little awkward.
Yeah, not my favorite at all. But at least it's there!
Ctrl/cmd + g to open "go to line" instead of going cmd+p and typing :
