    Ok there are some questions:-
    Out of nowhere how did the son got the courage to question his father on his actions in the first place? What prompted him to do that?
    And secondly it is not possible for a mortal to sell his son to a supernatural being like yama. Furthermore why would yama be interested to take the boy??
    It is clear that this story is completely unrealistic and in the name of morality is just there to misguide the readers.

      We may safely assume that it is a 'story' to convey a few messages. The moral courage to question his father on ethical grounds is innate to the character of Nachiketa. His father's response ('to Yama') is like an angry person saying 'Go to hell'. The character of Yama is used to explain the concept of the 'immortal soul' (this part is excluded in this video).
