In this video, Kimbra emphasizes the idea of developing a musical vocabulary so you can better communicate both to yourself and others what you're trying to achieve in your music. A wide vocabulary can be a source of inspiration, encouraging intentionality and pushing you to try new things. Kimbra talks about a technical vocabulary, how you achieve a certain sound, but also the idea of a poetic vocabulary, one that's more descriptive and inspiring. You'll need both to communicate with yourself and with others you collaborate with on how to achieve the specific ideas you're going for.
In this section of the course, students work to develop their own musical vocabulary by breaking down sample tracks into their technical elements - identifying the song structure, temp, etc. - as well as into their poetic elements - what emotions and themes are being conveyed through the language, vocal style, instrumentation, production, etc. - so that they can begin to use their new skills in their own music making.
Whether you're an aspiring vocalist yourself or a producer interested in treating the voice as one of many tools in your creative shed, this one-of-a-kind course will help you develop new methods for making compelling music. Subscribe and start learning today: soundfly.com/co...

Kimbra...you have never looked so good!
I have to say that you might be getting bogged down with technology, when a hit song is always the beat and a little lyric.
Brand new bands in garages and basement without access to the equipment you are accustom to still make great and wonderful hits.
Listen to Josh Garrels, he’s very gifted but he won’t conform to the world, if he did he would easily be rich.
