Fantastic review. I will check out your other reviews. I wish all reviewers went into this much detail. You covered every question I had about the U2 and some that I didn't have but, glad you tested for. Thank you!
Excellent in-depth review of this guitar wireless system. I was thinking of ordering the Xvive U2, but your review talked be out of it. I like the simplicity of the design, but going thru the unit in such great detail really helped me make my decision. Thanks for your hard work.
Another great review! I am now using Lekato 5.8 ghz wireless that I found on Amazon at the best price. Works very well at about a third the price of these. Also, right now getting just over 5 hours on a charge, although the receiver lasts a bit longer as expected. Sound quality with no noticeable degradation, no dropouts or interference, and build quality is good. Keep up the good work!
It's fantastic man. Just blowing my mind with the quality of the review. You should have a lot more subscribers. This Xvive U2 was recommended to me by Thomman in an email asking, but with that latency and noise it's out of the question for me. Do you know anything about the Mooer GTRS GWU4? Those
I just purchased 2 of these devices. Thanks to your wonderful review, I have a better idea of which instruments to use them with. The depth of testing and insight was well above and beyond any reviews that I've seen anywhere. Thanks so much.
I don't suppose you ever tried running two at the same time? Example, one wireless from guitar to multi-effects unit or pedal board, second from the above to an amp.
Not all "professionals" play in large, venues, stadiums or auditoriums. I play very small venues, thus am not concerned too much about latency, nor LOS connectivity. I do, however, delight in the potential to be almost totally wireless with the versatility of two Xvive U2 (Dual) units combined with an Xvive U3 wireless mic system. While I have not yet tried it, I intend to adapt a U2 system to transmit my backing tracks to my amp, along with any three of my instruments, such as guitar, mandolin or keyboard. Most current power packs for wireless instruments are cumbersome and difficult to position anywhere without some kind of motion interference. This combination will allow me to only need a single power cord, which will be used to power my amplifier. Thank you for such a thorough and comprehensible review of what I deem to be a cutting edge tool for musicians.
dude - AWESOME review - You've put in more work on an in-depth level than some people put into their whole lives :) seriously thought - really appreciate this OVER THE TOP research -
OK, so I bought one. Used it 6 or 7 times and it operated flawlessly. The 8th time there was a small glitch and I ignored it. The 9th time it completely cut out from about 30 feet away. After that it just sputtered if I moved a foot. Wow, talk about embarrassment on the bandstand but after some testing I learned a valuable lesson. Always make sure your battery is charged before a performance.
Oh good, I was getting worried, reading this - until the end. I just bought a pair yesterday, you see! Btw.. have you noticed the highs are a bit brittle, and harsh? I'm finding I need to roll my tone knob back - and that goes for my LP aswell as my Strat...and PRS, for that matter. I pretty have never used my tone knobs until now! Other than that, how do you find the overall sound quality?
Wow, what a review. Stumbled upon this video on accident but have to give you a subscription even though I can only play the intro power chords to Rock U Like Hurricane. Hahaha!!!! Subscribed.
@@Jeff4014 , It’s going for $ 154, in US, Guitar Center. I bought a pair. Fantastic. All the freedom to move around the stage without worrying about cable. Quality, high.
You address the one thing that no other reviewer does. The noise this wireless system makes is absolutely grating. I've tried everything I could think of to cut down on it, but to no avail. Barring a noise gate, I don't think there's anything else I can do to help with that.
Excellent review, thank you. I have been using the Xvive U2 system for a little over a year now (over 100 gigs). I wish I could say that I have never had dropouts, but that wouldn't be true. The amount of dropouts are very small and when taking the initial cost of the device into account, I think they are insignificant. Your review has clarified a lot of points for me. Thank you again.
Great, very thorough review. Many thanks. But as Jan Koppe pointed out in his comment below, and as many other reviews, comments and videos I have read and watched say, the U2 Xvive seem to be the most problematic of the wireless guitar units because they cut out, and are susceptible to interference when there are others around. At the moment, because I am not willing to spend more than about US $350, I am going to try the Boss WL-20, which reviews say is not prone to the same kinds of problems that the Xvive is.
This is the most thorough review of wireless guitar systems that I've come across on UA-cam. That said, I bought & have these direct from China A-8 transmitter/receiver that operate on 730 Mhz UHF signals. The upside to that is they don't use the 2.4/5 Ghz frequency that a cable modem/router broadcasts with, even the wireless handset telephone systems or anything else that is a2.4 Ghz frequency. The A-8's were $ 22 delivered thru an Amazon purchase. A friend has the XVIVE U2's and his are dead silent. That's a luck of the draw, hit & miss with even the XVIVE U2's from this test. Reviewer gets about 15 dB of noise and that's a whisper level of noise if you research noise dB levels online, but not annoying enough just the same & not dead silent like my friend's U2's. That said, even these XVIVE U2's are far quieter than the A-8's. The A-8's I have are noisy af. You can play with the gain and set that low at 1-2 with overdrive and live with these for practice sessions at max volume, but it's not neary loud enough cleaner to gig with. On clean without overdrive, then you have to set the volume where the noise isn't going to be annoyingly overwhelming for the A-8's as well and that's around a volume setting of 2-3 on the amp itself. I'm using the A-8's on a PYLE PVAMP 60W amp and it's a noisy amp instrument corded compared to the brand names that pretty much every Music store sells. But we tested the A-8's on a VOX & Yamaha practice level amps and it made no difference in the noise and even the guitars used. The A-8's will do everything and even be noisier with max volume. Perhaps you could gig with the A-8's and drive enough music to overwhelm the noise the A-8's make, but it's still going to be unwanted/undesirable distortion. So the A-8's are a low volume output, low gain alternative to cables for practice purposes only. I was hoping to see in the dismantling of the U2's that there would be some screwdriver type adjustment that one could phase the transmitter and receiver to eliminate that noise, but I didn't see one from the video review and I don't want to dismantle the A-8's and destroy them for a $ 22 bet that may or may not work. For now the A-8's work, just not as silently as my expectations are/were for them. And when I read reviews of the A-8's, even the U2's there are enough complaints in the negative & lower rated reviews for noisy wireless guitar systems. So that tells me it was hit & miss for noise vs silent products. Oh well, my hope was to be wireless primarily, use the instrument cord as a backup. Instead the instrument cord is the best quality and the wireless is a practice only & in a pinch for gigging alternative.
Amazing review. Reason I am seeing your review is because at a gig last night my line 6 relay transmitter? (The box that I plug in my wah) did the exact same thing as yours did at 16:23. It flashed red and kept peaking red and my signal kept cutting out. The battery in the smaller unit (in my pocket) was fine. But I was cutting due to the bigger unit peaking red. This had never ever happened before. Would you know the cause of this? You seem to have that diagnostic electrical perspective hence was curious. I figured It is defective and I wanted to purchase the X, but figured I try asking. Thanks !
Hey. That was most likely caused by a radio interference with some other unit operating on the same frequency/channel. Usually Wi-Fi routers (including access points created by mobile phones) may cause problems if they are too close or in between your guitar with transmitter and the receiver which is in your pedalboard. For that reason there are multiple channels available on U2 and similar wireless units to choose from. It should work fine as long as there are no huge overlaps in frequencies. There are ways to check that, like wi-fi analyzer apps can show you all wi-fi networks around you and what channels those networks are using. You can compare that to the frequency table of your wireless unit (if it's made public) and pick one without overlaps. I usually prefer to run my Relay G70 on channel 3 or 4, usually those are free. But G70's signal is so strong that it just kills any wi-fi in 50m radius. Therefore it was banned in the EU until Line6 "fixed" it earlier this year
Max Solo Music thanks for the response. July 6th show I will try a diff channel on the G30 if the same thing happens. I thought perhaps an internal battery was dying but I have never opened up the transmission box.
I'd be curious if you do a review of the Sennheiser XWS-D instrument set which is the "professionnal" equivalent of this "bug" type 2.4Ghz wireless :) Amazing in depth review !
I just can say WOW and more WOOOOOOW. Amazing review with real numbers not just a SUBJECTIVE OPINION. I appreciate the review planning explaining in the intro what would be covered, comparison with other devices, the marks on the floor when you did the range test. I was surprised with the level of noise, personally I think I could live with those 5 ms but not sure about the noise. Question: What device would you recommend in that price range? Thanks you Sir, greetings from Switzerland.
Hey. U2 actually performs quite well as long as you don't go for a very high gain sound. I used it with my active bass during live performances. So far so good. Speaking of other brands and devices, Line6 is good but more expensive. Shure has a good wireless system but also more expensive. I'm looking forward to check the one from Harley Benton, it looks promising
Max Solo Music - Thanks. I have seen people on the internet swear by the Shure GLXD 16 as one of the most reliable wireless systems out there but the latency of the G70 seems so much lesser than any other wireless system on the market. I use a lot of pitch shifting effects and drop tune pedals and those by itself introduce quite a lot of latency . For people like me the wireless latency has to be an absolute minimal thing to compensate for that.
Thanks for that great review. Are there any wireless systems for bass guitars? I tried a cheap one from Hoison Music from China and got a lot of interference plugged into my bass.
U2 is a digital wireless system and unlike analog ones it has no problems with transferring low frequencies. Therefore it should work just fine with a bass. Although, it's likely to have problems with active circuits, like acoustic guitars with piezo pickups, guitars with EMG pickups or active basses. I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you've experienced with the system you've tried. In that scenario you'll need a transmitter with a metal enclosure. Like Relay G50 or G70 from Line6
Very good explanation...I was thinking to buy one of those ...it help me a lot....just one thing = you forgot to try it with an electro acoustic guitar ( wooden guitar )...but I guess it works too.
I have three transmitters and the receiver. I use several guitars and it's really convenient as you turn one off and turn the next one on. It's that simple and I don't have to unplug and plug in any of the guitars I'm using. I started using channel 4 because another guitar player in our band has been using channel 1. I got a pretty bad amount of interference and drop outs on channel 4. I switched to channel 3 at rehearsal tonight and it worked fine. I have a fairly big show Saturday so that will be the test. We're now using channels 1, 2 & 3 in our band. I hope it works. Has anyone else had any problems with channel 4?
Hey man awesome video, do you have any idea where we can purchase the battery for the Xvive U2 unite once the one it comes with stops recharging permanently? I believe its a 3.7v 650mah 2.4wh, only thing is its super hard to find the right size. Hope you can help man, thanks in advance!
Awesome review, as always! I'm still thinking the 2.4 Ghz systems are unsuitable for real live use. They all work perfectly in test conditions, but at my venue I've seen sooo many guitarists with different 2,4ghz systems having issues. I always warn them before soundcheck, that they will not have a good time with those things. At soundcheck everything works fine, but: As soon as people get into the venue, they will bring their smartphone along. And heres the thing - Even though you are obviously not connected to the wifi with your smartphone, your phone will still block a small portion of the 2,4ghz spectrum by actively searching for your home wifi. Suddenly you have total chaos on those frequencies, even though everybodys wifi is "off". And I've yet to see any review replicate this at all. Low and behold: Massive dropouts, every time. They scramble to find a guitar cable after the second or third song.
places with loots of people are ideally suited, too. e.g. a busy train station, shopping mall, etc. - you just need lots and lots of wifi spam in the air!
Thanks for this info. I need wireless for church gig. We run up to 6 wireless IEMs and the other guitar player is running wireless. So I think for me this would not work. Too bad looks awesome. Thanks again 👍
hi my friend sorry for my english, I have a question I bought wireless xvive 2 transmitter +1 receiver, we use the 2 transmitters that I can put on a guitar and then on another guitars that I leave it on the side when i need to make a change and that it is already activate the sound not to change the transmitter
*Important Question:* When it says it's "digital", does that mean the anologue tones from my analogue FX pedals (ie. Analogue delay) have been reprocessed out as digital now? The same goes for my tube amp. Does it send out a processed "version" of my gorgeous Fender hotrod tone, thereby making it digital..and therefore not much different from a modelling amp?? Or am I misunderstanding the term "digital" in this context?
To add more to that confusion I can say there's no analog delay in the modern world. They all are digital. Some simply degrade the sound to mimic a tape delay, therefore guitarists call them 'analog', which from the technical perspective is not the case
Hello, I have a gray X VIVE U2 model that has the battery that does not last as long. Its reference is 3.7 V 650 mA. I find 3.7V batteries but with 600mA. Do you think it is possible to replace it with this model? thank you
Странно, каналу уже не первый год, потенциальная ЦА за счет англоязычности значительно выше, чем у теоретического подобного канала на для снг сегмента. Hi, I changed the batteries in my XVive U2 system. The problem I had was that, from time to time, on the receiver, the blue button would flash and vibrate the sound, a bit like a tremolo. I thought it would go away by changing the batteries, but the problem is still there. Do you have any idea where this would come from? If anyone has had this problem and resolved it, please let me know how to do it. Thanks for this video.
The quality of this review is just insane
Couldn't agree more
This is the maddest detail review I have seen. It literally went into the gadget's intestines! Nice job.
he even measured the shity noise ... haha
This is the most thorough review I have seen of any product anywhere. Thanks! You should get a job doing reviews.
Thanks. Check some of my other videos. I use the same approach for pretty much any guitar related equipment
One of the most comprehensive, logical, and well presented reviews I have ever watched for pro audio equipment!

Underrated channel. Your contents are awesome. You deserve more subs
Thanks! Well, I'm working on that
the best review of any product in the world!
Fantastic review. I will check out your other reviews. I wish all reviewers went into this much detail. You covered every question I had about the U2 and some that I didn't have but, glad you tested for. Thank you!
One of the best comprehensive review I ever seen. It’ll be better if you tested with the acoustic guitar also.
This is just a perfect way to review a product and the contents on the info is the best, thank you!
I've searching for around 30 mins for a review like this. Thanks!
Excellent. Very well described. You've showed more good example than any other sites I checked.
Great comparison review. I love my X-Vive.
Excellent in-depth review of this guitar wireless system. I was thinking of ordering the Xvive U2, but your review talked be out of it. I like the simplicity of the design, but going thru the unit in such great detail really helped me make my decision. Thanks for your hard work.

What an outstandingly thorough review! I swear this is the best review I might have ever seen in my life xD - you earned this sub!
Seriously cool in-depth review!
Top review!! I’m now “in love” with the G70
Thank you for an excellent thorough review! I plan to mod my transmitter to a TRS plug...so I can use it on a stereo to mono wireless.
It's fantastic man. Just blowing my mind with the quality of the review.
You should have a lot more subscribers.

Thanks for all your effort on this video. This was extremely informative.
I am amazed!
Not about the device, but your high detailed review. You not just read stuff and telling us. You proved it.
Awesome
I appreciate that!
Awesome review! Thanks a lot! You've did more than I could even imagine!
Awesome job brother. Thank you for your extremely comprehensive review..:)
The best review I ever seen.
Awesome professional review! I own the Xvive system and they are not as good as the Shure GLXD system but at a cheaper price point it is not bad.
Wow, that was quite thorough! Fantastic job.
What an amazing, and thorough review. Thanks for the details. Music rules this life.
The only people who have this level if info are the desingers. Thanks so much!
Expertly done review. And no marketing bullshit. Great!

It f**king defeats the purpose to plug in your wireless system to charge it while using it!. Then, you might aswell use a lead - doi!!!
Absolutely Excellent Review ... Hi, from Ireland :-)
Excellent review/analysis... thank you!
Wow, what a review. Stumbled upon this video on accident but have to give you a subscription even though I can only play the intro power chords to Rock U Like Hurricane. Hahaha!!!! Subscribed.

I use a lot of pitch shifting effects and drop tune pedals and those by itself introduce quite a lot of latency . For people like me the wireless latency has to be an absolute minimal thing to compensate for that.
yep, the lower the better :) I've never tried GLXD 16. But it doesn't use standard AA or AAA batteries. So, no professional use by any means
@@MaxSoloMusic Thanks.
Very good explanation...I was thinking to buy one of those ...it help me a lot....just one thing = you forgot to try it with an electro acoustic guitar ( wooden guitar )...but I guess it works too.
thanks, great review. Appreciate it. What's your opinion on the Shure GLDX system
Thanks! It looks solid. I never had a chance to try it though
Génial. Ca c'est une analyse. Thank from Belgium.
Which means your venue is perfect for testing 2.4 Ghz wireless systems! I wish I had a place like that nearby
places with loots of people are ideally suited, too. e.g. a busy train station, shopping mall, etc. - you just need lots and lots of wifi spam in the air!
Thanks for this info. I need wireless for church gig. We run up to 6 wireless IEMs and the other guitar player is running wireless. So I think for me this would not work. Too bad looks awesome. Thanks again 👍
Your comment is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the valuable info.
hi jan. thanks for the heads up..
do you have a different wireless system to recommend due to your knowledge and experience ?
Great review. I like these units. They don’t fit Ibanez S series though.
Good point!
Amazing review! Спасибо )))
Excellent Review!
My receiver stays on my pedalboard and it’s powered via a small USB charger constantly. I only have to worry about keeping the transmitter charged.
Excellent review! Subscribing!
Great job....just bought this product...not sure if this was the best buy for my usage
ur review its amazing
hi my friend sorry for my english, I have a question I bought wireless xvive 2 transmitter +1 receiver, we use the 2 transmitters that I can put on a guitar and then on another guitars that I leave it on the side when i need to make a change
and that it is already activate the sound not to change the transmitter
Excellent review!
Awesome review
Thanks!
There literally isn't a better review on the internet.
Good job !
Some simply degrade the sound to mimic a tape delay, therefore guitarists call them 'analog', which from the technical perspective is not the case
thank you very much! Greetings from Hungary :))) r'n'r
EXCELLENT!!!
Any suggestion on how to resolve the interference with Wi-Fi router?
Hello, I have a gray X VIVE U2 model that has the battery that does not last as long. Its reference is 3.7 V 650 mA. I find 3.7V batteries but with 600mA. Do you think it is possible to replace it with this model? thank you
Thanks Alex.
