HISTORY: The 4 o clock parade started in 1894 when Queen Victoria found the entire guard drinking and gambling while on duty and as a punishment ordered that they had to be inspected everyday at 4pm by an officer for the nect 100 years.
Although the 100 years finished in 1994 Queen Elizabeth II wanted the parade to continue as a tradition.

Yes, they are Cavalry and when they've done a a foot patrol may well be standing mounted guard for an hour at the gate later in the day. .
