- The Joetisserie is a PERFECT accessory for cooking a Christmas (or any time of year) DUCK! And that's just what I did here this week. I bought a frozen duck, so I thawed it out, seasoned it with a 50/50 mix of coarse kosher salt and Chinese Five Spice and let it dry on a rack in the fridge overnight. The next morning, I fired up the Kamado Joe with the Joetisserie and got this duck spinnin'.
I also made this amazing orange sauce to use as a glaze and as a drizzle on the finished duck... here's the recipe for my sauce:
1 cup of orange marmalade
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup whiskey (sub orange juice if you don't want whiskey)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
Bring to a simmer in a saucepan and then immediately remove from the heat. Keep warm while glazing and make sure it's warm before you put it on your plated duck!

Just grilled a duck with this sauce and it was phenomenal. Saving this sauce recipe and gonna be using it on a lot of stuff this summer!
I’ll be trying your recipe tomorrow for our Easter Sunday dinner, ours will be done on my George Foreman (George Junior) rotisserie! I can hardly wait to sink my teeth into it!!!
Going to try this but this video deserves a thousand times more likes and comments. 👍🏽
That looks amazing
Hey Johnny, looks great !! Where do you get your duck ?
I get my duck breast from Crowd Cow but they don’t have whole ducks 🦆.
This time of year I can get these frozen ones from Walmart.
John , it sure looked good. Have you ever done a Goose, pretty much the same as Duck but biger & lots of fat.
I have cooked a goose once. It's been quite a while back. They are hard to find in my area.
how come the duck is so white 9:00
The (lot of) dripping fat doesn't harm the Kamado?
no... it doesn't produce as much fat as a pork butt or a brisket.
