i am a black person born in Cuba | Afro Cuban.. what is a Hispanic or is this just an American word - in Cuba we never ever use such words as Hispanic or Latino.. its black, white and mixxed, asian, jew and more

@@krazyjnva2up2down55It was Napoleon's nephew that put Latino into the Americas (he thought it might bring the French more loyalty from the locals), but he detached it from its original meaning. A meaning which effectively was already dead at his time. People in Europe had stopped identifying as Latin long ago for nationalities. This always seems to confuse people, they try using the dead definition of Latin onto Latino.

He’s trying to be politically correct. He knows the term comes from the African diaspora and how spaniards looked down on their offspring born in the western hemisphere especially in the carribbean. Especially dark skinned vs light skinned hispanics.
People from the Spanish Caribbean were just considered Black back in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. The racial term “Mexican” was for people of indigenous descent mostly coming from Mexico.

Why do you think it was called Latin America? Spanish derived from Latin, just like French, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, and Romanian were formed. No, Latino is not short for the phrase, "Latin America". There is also, Latin Europ, and Latin Africa.

Las canciones del Latin Grammy pueden ser grabadas en español, portugués, catalán.... La cantante española tiene derecho al premio porque el español es una lengua de origen latino.
Si pero el Latin Grammy no incluye a los otro idiomas Latinas solo español. “Latin music” solo es en español y supuestamente latino es un diminutivo de latino Americano. Y lo que esta diciendo es que si Latino es un diminutivo de latino Americano y asi dicen aqui pues españa no esta en latino America.
