Shrink Plastic is new to me and something that has been around for many many years. However I have never tried it and already I love it. I have already made some Shrink Plastic charms and I can honestly say I do not see me making more sharks they were super fiddly to cut out lol Shrink Plastic has so many possibilities. love those bezels! ok, hands up anyone else that remembers shrinking crisp packets in the oven to make miniatures for brooches this was well before shrinky dinks were available?
Whatttt ... we can do that ?? 😱😱 ohhh my goodness how amazing x I'm so happy you love them thankyoooooo
In the late 70s early 80s, we had Shrinky-Dinks… it was my favorite thing to do and then watch them shrink in the oven…. Their is a YT video that shows some takeout plastic containers like the ones for salad bars does the same thing as the sheets. There is a certain code on them to look for…. So much fun!
Yes! We called them Shrinky Dinks in the 1970s. We used color felt tip pens and they came out stunning. Ive also seen people selling buttons made from Shrinky Dinks and they are adorable.
If you get youself a high sided box you can do your shrinking in that. Ive used a full A4 sheet to make my grandson a name plate for his door and used my heat gun. Also you can colour them with just about anything, Ive used all colouring mediums on them from coloured pencils to acrylic paint, so have a go, and those odd shaped bits you cut off use them as the test bits for colour. xxx Ann xxx
...yep...those are really cool...!
If you're using flourescent lighting in your work area, you should know that they emit some UV...it's possible it may be curing very thin layers of resin...👍
Matt
these are gorgeous.. i must try 🙂
those bezels gave me the idea of using resin to put tiny charms on plain bezels so you can have any theme you want. those seascapes are lovely. thank you for a brilliant video.
Great idea! Would you use UV resin?
@llamasugar5478 Metal blocks light so you would need to first cure layer of UV resin, then place charm, then cure UV resin on top.
I have these bezels, and other similar ones, because, I am a beginer, and didn't know what I was supposed to do, I brushed mica powder lightly over the tape, when the bezel were stuck down, it seemed to work , for me, I usually just use a fairly light colour, it gives the back a nice, pearly glow.
I like it better with the blue background and I love the bezel and the one with the two small sharks in it
Great idea!!!❤❤❤❤ it i have som lying around in my stash!! Forget all about it!! Thanks for the reminder!! Love them so gorgeous!!
Baby shark do do do do do do 🎶🎶❤
I love Shrinky Dinks! It's popped in and out of my craft projects for years. My grandkids write letters to Santa on it and hang them on the tree.❤❤😊
Yes! We still call them "Shrinky dinks". 😁💕
Perfect. How gorgeous, Claire. 😊😊😊
This is so brilliant! Love it , thanks so much for sharing 🙏💝🌞
How Adorable ! 👍😻👍 The possibilities are endless ! Trying to keep my brain from striping a gear ! 👍😻😂👍
You made those look so beautiful. Yes, we all them Shrinky Dinks. There is actually a brand by that name that makes shrink plastic, they are the original makers.
Can you do an Australian Amazon shop front please? I’m in Australia and I find it so frustrating following great people like you Clare and then not able to access some items.
Pretty
They are so pretty and yes in the US we call it shrinky dink been making them since the 80s
Love these. They are absolutely adorable❤😊
Wow!!! Once again, you amazed me with the beauty of these.❤❤❤ when I do my rings, i have noticed that my lights that I use to see the tiny details also tends to cure UV. Maybe your studio lights for filming started curing the UV. Thank you for sharing all these gorgeous ideas❤❤❤
So pretty. I've always called ir shrink wrap. Thank you. 😊😊
OMG!!! Claire love love love those ocean back bezels I definitely am going to get those I didn't even kno that they had them yea I remember playing with Shrinky Dinks when I was 5 yrs old !! WOW!!! Telling my age ...LMAO 😂😂😂 But definitely time to play with Shrink Plastic again looks soo fun !!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ooh i need to order some.
They look brilliant.
We used to shrink crisp packet under the grill and turn them into brooches.x
Shrinky Dinks that's what we called it back in the 80's when my kids were little, and might still be. Some recycle containers can also be used, like the clear container maybe you would get a piece of cake in from a restaurant, a plastic milk jug; if that's a thing where you live. I just looked, plastic stamped with a #6 recycle code here in the states.
Your makes are fantastic.
edit... LOL commented as I was watching so you already know about SD
Ahhhhh yes yes I learned that on you tube and honestly it's the cutest name in the world 🤣🤣 I will definitely look at that .. all of out milk containers are plastic recyclable .. so I don't know if it will work but I will try 😍😍😍
I think shrink plastics end up at 1/3 original size.
My brain is absolutely _humming_ with ideas! Your beautiful bezels are inspiring!!
Yes that makes sense .. it felt like 10th of the size 🤣🤣🤣
You could get stamps that cut out for small items.
You remind me of one of my favorite crafters Steve McDonald you both have the same accent and laugh you mirror him or you mirror each other doing some of the same things
Ohhhhh haaa yes we are both from the South of UK .. I do not watch Steve so I've not heard this before ... there's just not enough time in the day 🤣
They really look like they’re swimming deep down! Bloody luv them ❤
Ohhhhh, these have turned out beautiful.💙.
Love hearing the excitement in your voice.......🥰. Thank you.
I really like those. Tfs. I have similar bezels but wasn’t sure how to make most of them fantastic idea thank you. Xx
I am a Brit but live in the US and yes they still call them Shrinky Dinks. Shrinky Dinks came preprinted for kids to color in, its still the predominant brand here and comes in plain sheets as well. Also any number 5 or 6 plastic (the number in the recycle triangle) will shrink the same way, I feel as though it works better if you sand it a bit on one side to have a key to color on. I use sharpies to color on it I prefer the fine point. Also BIC Intensity permanent markers, again I like the ultra fine point but they and the sharpies both come in loads of colours and are not super expensive. You can use coloured pencils and get a really watercoloury (totally a word lol) effect also. I use the shrink plastic for loads of projects not just resin related. It makes great really individual art buttons if you also sew knit and crochet :)
Wow this is incredible thankyoooo so much 😍😍 great advice
Oh Claire these are absolutely stunningly Gorgeous ❤ I love these bezels. In Canada my mom bought shrinks dinks for my brother in the early 70s. Myself and 2 sisters older than my brother laughed our butts off over the kit of shrinky drinks to be made. I was only 11 then. I will be getting some shrink plastic to make many things with. Out to garage sales since 8AM with a friend today. 6 hours later car was full and had to come home. Lol Thank you so kindly for sharing this wonderful video with us all ❤ So sorry I missed your live. Take great care and keep creating your wonderful videos and smiling ❤
I tried shrink wrap think I got wrong one as didn't work like yours love these
OMG....these are my absolute favourite. In Canada, we also call them shrinky dinks .
These are right up my alley. Just love them. I'll see if I can find bezels like that.
Thank you so so much lovely ❤️❤️❤️
The middle one with the two sharks is gorgeous, u made it look so real
I remember playing with "shrinky dinks" I got for Christmas one year back around 1970 when I was 7. My Mom baked them for us kids after we colored them. It was fun! Thank you for the memories! Those bezzels are gorgeous!🦈🐚🌊
Wow Charlene ... thats so amazing I wish I got to play with them b4 now 😍😍 I'm so glad you like them xx
oh my those bezels are awesome!! LOL I have a pack of shinky dinks that I tried to make into keychains with my husbands logo and it was a complete disaster - mostly because the lettering shrank so much it was a blob LOL Misjudging on my part for certain. But these Claire? OMG so wonderful!!! Now I have to try this too :D So beautiful!
Ohhhhh I tried something similar.. the writing was soooooo tiny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Claire aww how cute are these 😍 love them 🥰 great work as always thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
Thankyooooooo lovely ❤️❤️❤️
I actually love the swirl course of the dark blue looks really realistic love this idea Claire ❤
Claire, you are a delight to watch, and your enthusiasm for your projects is contagious! Thank you for sharing your work. 🤗
Thankyou so much Belinda ❤️❤️❤️
I totally agree, what a pleasure when there are so many dreary people in the world these days. Those are so adorable!
omg pink glove beautiful and as i am watching out of sequence this shrink wrap is amazing. I do have some and haven't used it 😂😂😂😂 great video as always Claire 💕
Fantastic love these bezels also love the idea of using shrink plastic for your sharks 🦈 or fish 🐟 ❤️❤️❤️
What a great video and idea. I love the necklace bezels, Adorable ocean themes. I personally love shrink plastic! A few tips for you 1) It didn't freak out on you, 95% of the time your plastic will curl-up and then lay back down. 2) The plastic will shrink to 20% of the original size. 3) If you are doing any coloring on plastic OTHER THAN black or white. You need to color with colored pencils, or your coloring will look black most of the time. Because it becomes 80% more concentrated. Very light colors like some yellow or light pink will be ok. 4) I use a metal spatula with no holes and press my pieces on a smooth ceramic tile so that it's 100% flat. 5) I save all of the small bits of plastic from cutting out my item and I test to see how dark different colors or mediums will become after they shrink. 6) if the plastic touches any other part of the plastic when heating, it will never come apart and it does happen with long thin pieces. I love your giddiness over new products or projects. Shrinky dinks debuted in 1973 and were the most popular in the 1980's. You can still get shrinky dinks from Amazon. I never shrink mine in the oven, I use my heat gun because it's much faster. The oven takes 10-15 minutes and you risk them sticking together if your doing several at the same time.
This is fantastic advice thankyou so much 😍😍😍😍
@@ClairesCraftyCorner You are so welcome! 😊 You have taught me so much. I was finally able to give back to you a little.
Love those bezels!! I must get them!! Thank you for doing something beachy!!
Love these! So, of course 😆, I put a bunch of bezels and shrink plastic in my Amazon cart 😆 Time to reminisce ❤️
Those turned out amazing I must say they were greatly improved when you put the darker blue on the back I really like them and yes the shrink plastic is something that is very cool
Nice work Claire. Took me back to my senior school days when I first got to use something similar in art lessons, but to shrink it down was done in a small oven on a medium heat and took about 15/20 minutes. There again this was in the late 1970's (lol).
Thank you for your wonderful personality!!! So sweet and kind ,exciting and explaining everything! I just love you girl!!!
I am in the USA and yes we call it Shrinky Dinks. 😊 Love your excitement over this . Great video.
Gorgeous! It's really crafty to use the "waste" and shrink plastic to make the sharks. The deep blue backing was the perfect addition!
Thank yoooooo so much Mizz .. it definitely needed it didn't it 😍😍
I'm so glad you showed these, I've had these bezels for a yr now and didn't know what to do with them. Thank you for the ideas
Hi Claire, I thought I’d let you know, you can buy flat jewellery wire, shape it yourself, and use uv, or normal resin in them, it’s fun x enjoying your videos very much, thank you x
Shrinky Dinks is a brand of shrink plastic. They had lots of themed kits with outlined designs for you to color in. They were lots of fun and very durable. The color would come off so we sealed them with clear nail polish.
I love the way you always figure out a way to do what you need. I wish I was that patient. I buy the tiny vinyl sea creatures stickers from Lolivefe. I can not draw at all!
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but you can use the clear plastic from deli/bakery/salad containers for shrink plastic as well.
Oooooo yes a few have mentioned it 😍😍 I had no idea 😱
I like the way you did the backs. I think the swirls really make it look more natural and like actual water.
O my Gosh, you called it out; Shrinky Dinks! I thought about this while watching your video. I remember mentioning this in another video, as there’s a similar product people are using with resin. I was laughed at; HA, I knew I had it right. I had them as a little one. I absolutely love the bezels you found ❤
Okay, Questions:
1. How do you decide when choosing, bezels, which ones will not lose its silver/gold coverings? It’s too expensive for me to buy the real stuff.
2. What types of resins would you recommend for this project, and how long did you use UV Lamp?
4. Have you considered using small tattoos?
Claire, you always give me a smile or a bit of a laugh.
Ahhhh I'm so glad you love them 😍😍 I do not look at the silver / metallic longevity. I should do this really.
I cure each layer for 200 seconds. I would recommend UV just because it's fast. And yes .... I use tattoos a lot 😍😍😍
@@ClairesCraftyCorner Thank you, dear heart
Your excitement and love of your craft is contagious. I can’t help but smile when I see your beautiful work. Your videos are wonderful ❤❤❤
Claire love your crafting channel leaning alot from you. how to use all the different tools and technics and supplies you can use. I know im not the only one who says "we cant wait to see what to come up with for the holiday's"! I cant believe its 6 months till Christmas. xoxo
Ohhhhhhh that excites me 😍😍😍 6 months till Christmas yayyyyyyy ❤️❤️🤣🤣😍😍
I’ve seen people do this with the empty deli containers & throw away packaging. Idk if it works exactly the same but if someone wanted to try it without investing in a whole bunch it is possible. Lovely work Claire. And yesss those bezels are so beautiful. I think they could be worn as they are too. Thanks for sharing 🌹🌹🌹
Oh, Claire! I just LOVE these! I'm amazed at how much resin fit in these! You know, you *could* even back them with a light coating of beige mica and sand? 😊
❤ adorable. The sharks came out great. Used to do this stuff decades ago. You can get some amazing florals from the shrink wrap. 😊
Those bezels are beautiful and I love what you did with them! I'm in the US and in the 70's we had Shrinky Dinks. I loved playing with that! It is so cool that is has come back and even cooler that you can use a heat gun to shrink them! I never thought of doing that.
They came out gorgeous! I have the pink gloves too and love them ❤️
Ohhhh they're so goof... they don't leave my hands all sticky after ... the Black ones just made my hands feel awful x
Just WOW!!!!! I NEEDThese in my life!
I must say it has really been fun watching you do these Claire 😍 I remember many years ago when I was a kid you could get the shrinky dinks free in cereal packets lol ( Showing my age now 🤫😂) You have done a great job with these ( So pretty ) Love them.🥰
They are absolutely gorgeous.
So cute! I love these bezels! Yes, I had Shrinky Dinks as a kid. We thought they were sooo cool back in the 70s ..LOL Love the sharks.
Perhaps try pinning down the plastic with long tweezers? Just a thought..
Love your work Claire. So helpful. You even impressed my hubby ( thanks btw) 😊❤

I just got these bezels last week and you’re right. They are just beautiful in person and I can’t wait to use them.
Beautiful results and those bezels are awesome! Just trying my kit and having fun too.
Hi, another great video and lots to try out. I’ve been using the shrink plastic for some time, I’m unable to draw a straight line, I get the printable ones and you can download any image, copyright permitting, and set to black and white outline so you can colour in or print in colour. Then shrink. You will have to seal them if they’re inkjet. Get some amazing results and you can play around with the size
I loved shrinky dinks when i was young lol you made me remember how much fun they were. I love the bezels and the sharks lol.
I absolutely love this idea. You are amazing. Always stepping up your game!!
