“Spring Song” Op. 62, No. 6, in A major (1844) is taken from the fifth volume of Mendelssohn’s “Songs Without Words”. This piece reprents lightheartedness, beauty, joy and freedom, in the line of the Romantic vision of nature and piano: nature is seen as the reflection of the Artist’s inner world, while piano is the Composer’s secret diary.
From April to June 2018, Caterina Barontini recorded 100 pieces composed by the authors that she loves most: Galuppi, Cimarosa, Paradisi, Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Grieg, Brahms, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Ravel, Prokofiev, Satie, De Falla, Bartók and Yiruma. Caterina’s aim is to take the listener on a journey through the history of piano music, from the 18th Century to Contemporary Piano. She has collected her recordings both in thematic compilations and in a complete library. Caterina wants to offer an overview on the evolution of music as a language capable of telling stories and spreading emotions.
