He has a gift for clarity. God bless this Cardinal!
As far as i'm concerned, he can be my next pope.
He speaks clearly to the common man, God Bless!
Cardinal Arinze is AWESOME
I love the beginning with Cardinal Arinze holding the ipod
The questioner made some serious points that I feel were kinda glossed over. The Cardinal denounced the idea of saying "In theory I disagree, but it's up to the individual if they want to". Yet, that seems to be the Cardinal's very response when asked what the Vatican could do about this proliferation of double-standards. In effect the Cardinal is saying "In principle I disagree, but we're not going to do anything strenuous about it". Abortion is a serious issue killing millions a year. Action!
Want to know what bishops, priests, cardinals and Popes do with proabortion politicians, wine and dine with them and give them communion and elaborate funnerals. Probably why he didn't answer the question.
5:46
HOLY SWISS...
Though Shalt Not Kill.
Yeap, you don't need a cardinal from the Vatican to answer that question.
The guy asking the question sure knows how to ramble. Why couldn't he just ask, why doesn't the church excommunicate catholic politicians who are pro-abortion?
@iotaunam1 I don't have anybody else and Jesus did leave us with the option to divorce in case of infidelity or abuse (if in my case my life was in danger) He also permits marriage to dissolve if one of the spouses is an anbeliever and wants to leave. (which is my case) Now I am wondering why church made it so easy for me at least to marry an unbeliever. After all the Bible clearly speaks that believers should not be unequaly yoked with unbelievers. Study the Word and see for yourself.
Oh wow hes 75? I thought he was like early 60's.
Layman's terms.
The Cardinal puts Church Teaching into Layman's terms (words) for those who don't "get it."
Those who, even when Church Teaching is explained to them, they still put their "feelings" above Church Teaching.
Must we be like children to understand?
This is not Church Teaching, this is Divine, as stated.
"Enough!" God will say. Soon, I pray.
+Peace Be With You.
@TheViolet76
No, Christ did not give us an option to divorce under any circumstance. He permitted "seperation" in certain instances but said that if one goes on to Marry another they commit adultry. Seperation for just cause - yes - but never divorce and certainly never re-marriage - save an annulment which in fact means there never was a marriage in the first place. Also, the Pauline privilage extends only to couples who were both non-christians before and one converted.
I thought he retired?
LOL God willing he will be Pope in a few weeks!
@EqualAndFree Jesus refuted many of the Old Testament teaching, especially those regarding food, drink, and cleanliness. Mt. 9:17: He said that we cannot put new wine in old wineskins. Rather, we use new wineskins, because new wine would otherwise burst the old wineskins. When He came, Christ made the new law and to try to fit the new into the confines of the old is limiting the new.
And kolbe1019 is quite right--there is no symbolism in the Eucharist. Jesus IS present and it IS His blood.
@TheViolet76 All of this stuff stems from a website for a schismatic group of traditionalists known as sedevacantists. I've been watching every debate and it's the same pattern; anger, scurrilous talk and no resolve. At the very least a sign of Love must prevail in order for the soul of the other to discern. You think Paul disparaged Peter in Jerusalem? No. He embraced his brother in communion so he'd understand Grace outdid the accusing Law of perdition. Light up the dark w/ it's essence.
@iotaunam1 I'm guessing your spouse never deceived you, lied, cheated, abandoned and broke your heart and your dreams of heaving a family. Mine has!!! How dare you I loved my husband and was a perfect wife. He tried to choke me to death cause I didn't approve of his (married with a child) girlfriend!. I'm 35 years old and love God a lot. Should I be excluded from Church and remain single and childless forever?! WHY?! Think before you speak or keep your mouth shut!
@TheViolet76 @TheViolet76
I have thought well before I wrote that comment. You seem to have a lot of anger towards my comment and yet I am only telling people what CHRIST said. It is not my comment you dislike therefore, but Christ's. If I had it my way maybe I would congratulate you for finding someone else, however Christ has spoken - the matter is finished. Whether I, or anyone else likes it or not is superfluous.
Pro-abortionist, the divorced and remarried, and other apostates who reject the Catholic faith should not be given communion.
Unfortunately, some clergy in the modern Church do not want to "disturb the peace" , "offend" or "embarass" those in this position, but they think not of Christ, and the grave offence caused to Him, who will judge mankind on the last day!
He makes sloppy analogies and refuses to address the issue directly. Unfortuntate.
