SRK is the wittiest and most intelligent man in the Bollywood, that’s why I loved this man..
Why should SRK go to Hollywood? He does not need any validation. He knows who he is and as a fan we all know what he is capable of.
Shahrukh Khan didnt say he doesn't want to go to Hollywood because he's comfortable at home. He was humble enough to say he doesn't qualify there. He also stated he wants to make movies here that gets global recognition as opposed to making a movie there.
Realistically speaking, if Xtreme City with Dcaprio and Scorsese did happen, SRK would have proved that he is actually more than qualified there.

SRK said he has left behind his personal choices (after 2019 we suppose). This speech is from time before that. I think history will remember SRK as 2 different versions of him - Pre 2019 and Post 2019. Now he'll do what audience and more importantly his fans demand. But even in that, I think we still find sprinkles of his own personality and perspectives. He did Pathaan and Jawan but both were somewhat rebellious and important in current time of jingoism. Where Pathaan was very subtle at taking jibes on fake patriotism, Jawan did it on your face so more people in India can understand. In time where other actors were sucking up to the goons of govt, or just to be on safer side - changing film titles from bhaijaan to kisi ka bhai kisi ki jaan, he kept it PATHAAN and didn't change any bikini colour due to stupid reasons. Also didn't change love angle between Indian agent and Pakistani agent. There was subtle political commentary throughout the film. All that was BALSY no matter what anyone says, especially in this era in India. And in JAWAN, I don't have to point out anything because everything was loud and clear. The major events chosen in this movie were directly inspired from real evenrs that has happened in India in recent years be it about children dyiing due to lack of oxygen supply or farmers sui©ides, not to forget the direct speech about "not to vote in the name of religion". So yeah he has changed his style based on what his fans want because this way he can reach to more and more people.

Shahrukh khan thrives in his duality, he did explains this in his interview long ago when interviews were heartfelt and honest. I would recommend you to watch think 2012 interview of srk, may be it will give you answers why he do what he does... There are a lot of factors at play when he decides to do a film so u won't be able to understand his state of mind. And plz don't compare him with any other star bcz srk star persona is very different from others the way people admire him is just indescribable

Going to Hollywood is very overrated & completely unnecessary for an Indian actor / actress. The sensibilities of filmmakers & audiences are so different. No Indian performer has ever done their best creative work in the West... Not Priyanka Chopra, not Anupam Kher, not Anil Kapoor, not Amrish Puri, not Irfan Khan. In general I believe it is only in your native industry, language & social / cultural setting that a performer creates their most authentic & influential work.
Yup, any western actors in Priyanka's place would have disappeared without a trace after the films she has done there or the roles she got dealt with. It's only because of the industry's target of capturing Indian audience is what keeping her afloat at the moment. But looking at Citadel's colossal failure, those roles will dry up soon.

Average Americans are trolling her and her Citadel-co star from Eternals in most Citadel reviews. Jonas Brothers just had a tour for The Album with sold-out shows, their recent songs are successful, they were on Disney Channel, one of them was in Camp Rock and they already made a successful comeback. You would have known if you had simply googled why Jonas Brothers are big in America. As a boy band, they are pretty successful and popular in average American consciousness. PC was lucky to be in their music video Sucker. Their fans come from all age groups. PC's best work is still in Indian cinema, and she is doing insignificant roles and movies most Americans don't care about.

The thing with SRK's film choice is that he has become such a big star that any film he does (excluding cameos) will end up having a massive budget and recovering that from the Box Office can be a big gamble if they go the artsy way of filmmaking. Yes, small films do great business but they have a relatively lower risk of recovering the budget so the creators get more free reign in making that project. But that will never be the case with star actors, especially post-pandemic where people have thronged the theatres only when there has been an event film. I Hope Dunki becomes an outlier in this equation as Rajkumar Hirani has always been an outlier who has given massive BO returns without going the masala route, that too with stars. But, this will be his first film post-pandemic so let's see what happens.

As a fan who's been follwing him for more than 10yrs, I can sum him up to others in one word, "self aware", he knows he is talented enough to experiment but he also knows how the film industry works, n in india u either become a star or a thespian actor, n SRK loves being famous so many things he does don't neccesarily represent what he thinks or believes as far as work is concerned.
P.S. I hope u'll react to more of his interviews n speeches, he is an extremely intellectual n well spoken person, something that is rare in this profession

No hope with Rick now, he has judged SRK a certain way and how many interviews he sees is not going to change that.
The way Rick was listening to this speech felt like he was just waiting to catch SRK in a lie or say something that doesn't align with Rick's thinking so that he can give another lecture on elevated artistry and making compromises with your craft and so on.
Sadly for him, all he could come up with is that SRK is a man of contradictions (slyly implying that he is not being honest with his opinions) just because SRK doesn't fit into the mold that Rick has decided for him.

I love how korbin has become more Indian and understands indian cinema, how it works and the star system. His opinions are based on his understanding of the type of cinema India is representing. Rick on the other uses a different approach which i dont like personally
Rick, you and many like you continue to overrate Hollywood and its significance in the minds of artists and audiences from the eastern world.
SRK doesnt need to go to hollywood because Hollywood does not have the artistry that he and many like him crave. I mean just look at the biggest box office movies in hollywood in the last 25 years. The Marvel movies, dinosaurs, aliens.. if one removes vfx hollywood becomes completely worthless. There's no fine artistry in hollywood for at least 20 odd years.
Every 2nd actor in hollywood is just a superhero character.
In India even our biggest movies rely primarily on artistic skills not vfx. Vfx is only used to enhance storytelling. Whereas in hollywood there is no movie without vfx (in a majority of projects).
So SRK and other Indian actors dont feel the need to go to hollywood. Priyanka spent her formative years in the US so she felt a desire to try and challenge herself by going to hollywood. Her motivations for moving there are the exception not the norm for Indian actors.
If Priyanka wants challenge then she could have to come southern indian industry instead of going Hollywood because southern industry is more good and challenging than any other industry other than Korean industry for flims. What she done was clearly for worldwide fame but she points out the reason of giving importance to art. I am saying this but I also say that she is a very good in acting. She also got into many issues of immorale behaviour in Bollywood.

SRK is talking about leaving behind the "star rating" system - like rating films at 3, 3.5 etc - not about actors' stardom. But at the same time, of course, he is very cognisant of the fact that the era of superstars are behind us. He has often mentioned that he is "the last of the stars". I don't think he would ever tell people to stop seeing actors as stars though lol
