- A visual history of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) told primarily through the logos and on-screen identity of its membership. A companion video listing the EBU's current membership may be found at • European Broadcasting ...
Fascinating!
1. that the _founding_ members included Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, and Morocco. So much for saying Israel (and Australia) isn't in Europe. (And that [West!] Germany wasn't in quite from the start, though soon joined.)
2. That it's definitely companies, rather than countries, which make it up.
3. Political influence is evident, of course.
Very well put together - nostalgic musics - I think the one at 12:38 made me feel most.
(One minor point - you showed West and East Germany, and Yugoslavia and its parts, but you showed Czechoslovakia as divided from the start - it wasn't. Probably unimportant, as it didn't join until it was.)
Thank you! It'd be great to have more videos like this, for example one about funding.

When JRT's EBU membership got revoked at some point during 1992, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, (North) Macedonia and Slovenia had already left the federation, and only Serbia and Montenegro were left, those two founded the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on 27 April 1992. So, Croatia and Slovenia briefly had no EBU membership from their independence in 1991 and Bosnia & Herzegovina from 1992 until 1 January 1993.

Can you do Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) timeline?
Thanks for the suggestion - I will add it to the (ever-growing) list!
Where can I find the Te Deum theme from 0:00 - 1:15?
Unfortunately, I have quite a few versions that I have found all over the web and elsewhere; this one is one of those where the original details were minimal so I cannot provide you with chapter and verse.
From what I know from 0:00 to 0:17, it came from ZDF from somewhere in the 1970s to 1989. Idk the other one tho.
Where in the blazes did you get that Malta Television Service ident?
I wonder where he found nearly ALL of this
I have many videos of TV station logos and - to be honest - I really cannot remember where most of them came from! ☹️ (Sorry to both of you for the delayed reply by the way!)

9:26 audio?
I THINK it is the "fanfare" that OIRT used - like the one Eurovision uses prior to all of its broadcasts.
I take it the UK Channel 4 joined as part of the IBA?
Sort of - it is listed by the EBU under "United Kingdom Independent Broadcasting" and is shown in the companion video of current active members at ua-cam.com/video/tQohqegk4Fo/v-deo.html - about 14.50 in!

I think you have forgotten RTVE, or at least TVE, from Spain around 1960.
Radio Nacional de Espana (RNE) was accepted as an EBU member in 1955. When TV arrived in Spain, RNE was rebranded as Radiotelevisión Española - so its membership is shown at 5.22
@@tvradiotimelines It's true, at least it's the information you can find in Wikipedia, but RNE wasn't rebranded when TVE arrived, still exists today as part of RTVE. In other words RNE and TVE are not the same, one is radio and the other is television, together they form RTVE.
Thanks, very interesting your page
@@quiquebellido2657 Thanks for the feedback. "Rebrand" was probably the incorrect phrase to use. As far as I can tell from the EBU histories that I have, the membership of RNE was merely extended to cover the TV side, and no separate membership application was made by TVE. This seems to have been the case in a number of countries (e.g. Sweden/The Netherlands) where TV was still in its infancy when their broadcasting organisations joined the EBU.
@@tvradiotimelines Yes, I understand. Thanks.
@@quiquebellido2657 Thanks - I really appreciate the feedback and additional information.
