Unstoppable storm like hurricane strikes London! Thunderstorm caused damage in England

On evening, October 23, a powerful storm has reportedly hit South London, England. It comes after a day of torrential rain and thunderstorms in London. Residents took to social media to report flying objects and share video of destroyed property.
Earlier on Sunday, the local authorities issued a yellow weather warning and predicted of a chance for sudden flooding as rain poured down on the capital. It was estimated as much as 60mm of rain fell in just half an hour.
Subsequently, train services are being cancelled after trees fell on to railways and flooded roads across central and south east England. National Rail has reported disruption caused by heavy flooding on train routes between Stourbridge Junction and Birmingham Snow Hill.
South Western Railway is currently suffering major disruption after trees fell on to rail lines across its network. There were also reports on social media of flooded roads in Lincolnshire.
The authorities warned that heavy rain for much of the south could lead to flooding, leaving businesses and homes at risk of damage. The yellow weather warning extends into October 24.
The channel lists such natural disasters as:
1) Geological emergencies: Earthquake, Volcanic eruption, Mud, Landslide, Avalanche;
2) Hydrological emergencies: Flood, Tsunami, Limnological disaster,
3) Fires: Forest fire, Peat fire;
4) Meteorological emergencies: Tornado, Cyclone, Blizzard, Hail, Drought, Tornado, Hail, Hurricane, Tsunami, Storm, Thunderstorm, Tempest.

Yes I live in London and it was awful.
It rained hard for 12 minutes which forced me to stay in the pub, buy another pint at £6(!) and watch the rest of an appalling Tottenham Hotspur performance as they went down 1:2 at home to Newcastle. It was painful.
But strangely, just across the river the match carried on even though the ball got wet.
After the match I walked to Sainsbury's on my way home.
I carried an old lady's bag as she jumped in puddles, bless her.

Yes we play football in the rain, snow, hail and wind and occasionally sunshine which of course is caused by global warming.
We do have an Indian in charge but then we've been an open minded, free and equal country for at least a century now. Our last cabinet as well, didn't contain any white men in the top jobs.
We used to be colour blind too until that was outlawed as problematic thought. Apparently segregation is the new free.

This one happened to come in from the Atlantic (as usual) move over western Europe (as usual) which includes the south of England (not new) which in turn includes an entitled metropoliati (London's been there for millennia) that thinks everything is happening to them and hasn't happened before and so must be terrible and that they are somehow special.
They don't like the concept of, let alone the fact that history exists.
Meanwhile all the English adults just accept that it rains and sou'westers are their prevailing weather.

Wow the storm of 87. That's sad that it was so unexpected and caught people by surprise and people died. I daresay it wasn't over rated for the people who lost love ones.
@@KiwiGraggle: Whilst I catch your drirft, the hurricane of 87 hit the south and south east as hard as anywhwere in the UK. I've seen storms in many places and what happened in London yesterday - if it was anything other than a squall - is common enough and has been throughout my life since WW2.

It was insanely windy all night and morning here in New Mexico. It was insane. So cold. The door kept getting thrown open. I finally managed to get some sleep after wedging a board between it to keep it shut. And the dang heater couldn't keep up. The rain was sluicing down in that cold wind. I felt bad for the homeless.

Low pressure over London bringing up warm air from Spain causing rain and thunder storms. Nothing Unusual about It. Not climate change.

Extreme weather, including torrential rains (and in dozens of places around the world, historic flooding), seem to have ramped up recently. What's going on?
It’s pretty simple.
A warming planet causes WORSE EXTREMES: …
Warmer air & water => (leading to) more humidity, heavier rain, and heavier floods.
Hotter air & topsoil => more heatwaves, more evaporation, more drought, and more wildfires.
Hotter Arctic => less ice, less albedo (reflectivity), much less ice.
That's the way it works. It is simple physics.
The evidence can be seen worldwide. Expect more of the same, only worse.
And this has been going on for billions of years. Unfortunately we are living through it this time !
@@RickGTI2019 Thanks for your response. I agree that there have been wide swings in earth's climate for as long as Earth has been around. Those swings were due mostly to the Milankovitch cycles involving the earth's revolution around the sun. Those cycles take about 100,000 years to complete. In other words they proceed in geologic time.
The point I would make is that nothing before 11,000 years ago really applies to our situation today. That's when agriculture began and humans began constructing permanent settlements. The current changes in our climate have been happening much faster than geologic time. Something has been superimposed on top of the natural cycles, and the most likely explanation, in my opinion of course, is the greenhouse effect.
So I think it's not really "unfortunate" that we are living through this time. It's tragic, because it's our own fault.

Long-distance radio communication relies on bouncing radio waves off parts of the atmosphere. All the HAARP project really does is bounce radio waves off the ionosphere to test how such waves might be scattered as they pass through.
The Alaskan HAARP research facility, for example, consists of an array of radio antennae spread over many acres. Combined, the facility would be capable of pumping 3.6 megawatts of radio energy into the ionosphere if it were not for losses that occur before it even gets to the ionosphere. This amount of radio energy is nowhere near enough to vaporize a cloud, let alone impact the atmosphere, even locally, in any significant fashion. Yeah sorry folks nothing to see here but a mircroburst not a hurricane in south london just a mircroburst they have all the same characteristics of a hurricane due to the sudden force of wind and rain it looks like a hurricane but they are much worse a microburst would create havoc where none exists and I would have thought that most londoners were used to rain by now its their default weather setting.

Remember UK is an Island and sometimes gets hit pretty hard south or on the west. I think it was last year that we had a hurricane in London. That is not usual but happens. There are videos from airplanes trying to land at Heathrow airport . Crazy!
Very unusual, I've lived in UK for 34 years and only seen winds this strong once and that was last year on the coast

It was just a downburst. No tornado just straight line winds for 10/15 mins. America has them all the time but it’s quite rare in London.
I was out in a strappy top tonight about 7pm and I hate being cold!!! Had to take my jacket off it was so warm! Pretty unusual

Oh dear, more food for the nutters! We had a storm here but it was nothing like that which 'Hit' London. In my very long time on this planet this sort of weather has I repeat has happened before. The only difference between the past and now is social media and the idiots that infest it. And of course the ability to manipulate content. I watched the storm over Heathrow - seen dozens like it - but things carried on as normal. Oh well I suppose you'll be happy where there's nothing but mud to build your huts with and and your delicious cockroach mousse.
