This is one of the best episodes I've ever listened too. Thank you for this channel & all the work you guys do. My daughter just found out Santa Claus isn't real & this episode has really helped me guide her. Now she wants to know more about the real St. Nickolas & she is happy that he really did exist but without the reindeer 🦌 of course.

Saint Nicholas is my special needs son patron Saint. He loves Christmas all year. We never did the Santa Claus thing- too hard to re- explain. So, Saint Nick has been around our house a long time. We love the traditions and filling socks . Great episode- thank you.

I’m only 8 min into the show right now and want to add: Anyone who has heard of ol’ Arias and his heresy, knows St. Nicholas was at the Council of Nicaea. 😂
21 min into the show now and Nicholas is indeed slapping Arias. 🙌☺️

Really enjoyed this episode! And came at the perfect time; to reflect before tomorrow. It brought up a lot of memories from childhood and made me remember how many of those are not aware of the real life of St Nicholas. I remember when being asked as a child (and sometimes an adult) when my birthday was I would say St Nicholas Day! I would then explain what the day celebrated and I was surprised by how many of peers had no idea . I feel very blessed to have grown up in a Catholic home where the true meanings of Advent, Christmas, and all other Holy Days were always discussed.

No gold coins in my Christmas stockings except for chocolate wrapped up as gold coins. I loved my candy treats and stocking stuffers each year and the tradition carried on through many adult years while my Ma was alive and celebrating Christmas. I heard about St. Nicholas in my parochial school as my parents were all about telling the story of Baby Jesus. Santa was a footnote to the day.

You left out the best part of Nickolas in prison. He had been stripped of his mitre and staff when he was arrested. In prison he was visited by Jesus, who asked him “why are you here?” He answered “because I love you”. When they returned to his cell, his captors found him wearing his mitre and holding his shepherds staff. He was then released and restored to his bishopric.

Though we honor him with our words we still have a blind spot in our understanding of the Holy Ghost and his position in the works of God the Father and his only begotten Son.
He's The Breath of God which is the means of speaking of the incarnation pushing the Son from the bosom of the Father bringing flesh to the Son of God becoming the building materials which The Son uses to create order in the womb of tiamat AKA our Mother Earth AKA Gaia.
The Son of God is the Father of fathers and the Potter and the Holy Spirit is like his Uncle as he'd be The only person who would have been able to be his godfather.

I don’t condemn the inaccurate portrayal of Saint Nicholas. Those illustrators kept the story around and kept his name in the form of Santa Claus, alive. The true history has always been known by faithful Catholics and is appropriately told every year, and the reason it is easy to relate to is from the Story of Saint Nicholas or Santa Claus staying alive in the secular world. One of the greatest Christmas cards I have seen is seeing the sleigh parked in front of a chapel and through the door seeing Jolly old St. Nick on his knees in front of the manger scene
