  • In this video, I show you how to make Waggler Floats with Plug In Tips and Loaded Bases.
This is the second video in this series. The original video is Here: • Make Reed Waggler Floa...
This time, I have taken the basics of making a reed waggler float a little further. The use of interchangeable or Plug In Tips of different colours and diameters makes these floats extremely versatile, whilst still being really easy to make.
In the case of the Waggler Floats with loaded bases, it is not necessary to put any loading in very light versions. My suggestion would be to only load those with a shotting capacity in excess of 2AAA. The choice, of course, is yours.

I hadn’t watched the video before Den, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction 👍

A tip : before paint job , seal the wood parts with a thin coat of super-glue ; I am using the technique with my balsa lures . The paint will adhere better and it give more strength too ..... keep the good work !

Den, I hope this reaches you as it is an older video. You say don't use bamboo; why? I have used bamboo homemade floats with no problems. They are heavier and carry less shot but apart from that I'd be interested in your reasons. I'm going to try making the interchangeable tips soon as i never seem to have the right combination available!

Do you think a bit of reed would work for the insert tube instead of the plastic if one is trying to stick with natural materials? Would it put up with multiple removal/installs of tip changes?
Also, would Balsa dowel work, with holes drilled for the inserts in the ends, for the body if I can't find reed?
    Thanks!

I think reed would be problematic if used for the multiple insertion of tips Bert. You could try Balsa Dowel, but it is not my first choice as it is likely to snap.

Any chance of making a bodied slider floats video ?

Yep. I can do that Stephen. I know I promised you I would do it some time ago, but things seem to keep getting in the way. Did you know that you can use a lot of normal bodied loaded wagglers as a slider? All you do is slip a small bead with a tiny hole onto the line above the float. That gets held up by the stop knot and at the same time the body of the bead stops the float.

I just watched the video again Philip and had no problems with sound, so maybe if you try it again and see how you go.

I'm just waiting for Grandchildren Tim. Then I can enjoy taking them out fishing, the same way as I did with my son many years ago.
