In fighting game terms its like a just guard or SF3 parry that gives you frame advantage for a follow up attack compared to your opponent trying the same
I have been practicing martial arts and browsing youtube for years and this is one of the best videos about parry / counters I saw, I really thank you for this
Best parrying guide on this website. Is there a strong difference between parrying arms extended vs arms retracted? Do you have advice on when to do a “hangen” hands high and point low or high parry instead of a hands low parry?
you have to cut or ward to the right or left down the line of his body just like single sword only rise your sword if he strikes to the top of your head
First follow the direction of the enemies attacks then execute light attacks of your own in the same direction this is how you parry it is the keystone of your defense
There are lots of manuals so there might be some that have another definition. But generally we talk about parrying, not about blocking. Parrying is moving your weapon to deflect and opponents attack. Blocking isn't a term I've found reading the manuals nor in training. However, you can block a line of attack by standing in a specific guard (ie you guard your left side which means that an opponent striking from that direction will end up hitting your sword). But then we're using the latter term; guard.
The most common definition of parry I have encountered in HEMA is just any defensive action with blade contact. It could be deflective, it could be absorptive, it could be setting up a counter attack, any defensive action with blade contact. Blocking would just be a subset of actions under the umbrella or parry, that would be if the term were actually used which in my experience it isn't. Blocking and parrying being expressly different things are artefacts from other martial arts where they may be, or from video games where they are used to separate specific game mechanics
Use traslator. Cuando estaba en el colegio y estábamos aburridos, usábamos unos tubos de plasticos como espadas, cuando empezábamos un combate siempre usaba la técnica del segundo 0:30 aunque nunca supe como lo lograba, era algo automático.
I can never understand why people choose to train with no footwear. That is stupid and risk to causing a foot injury. If the fight was real, I would consider stepping on the persons toes causing them pain to distract them while in a bind if the opportunity was available. If you have ever hit your toes while bare footed you should know how much that will hurts. In any sport, safety is always first, therefore wear shoes.
It's pretty easy just tap L2 when the attack is about to hit you
Also you can heavy and fake then if they fall for it, parry.
If You are a Shinobi is L1
R1 spam him and wear havels set like a ganker!
If your an assassin its the circle button
Just Heavy deflect into a GB
It is more effective if you parry, praise the sun, then riposte.
Two scoops of praisin'
fatty ahead
Don't forget to point down
Mikiri counter for extra posture damage
**only on thrust attacks
Great video. Been looking for a clear simple demonstration of this vital skill.
According to video games, you're only blocking.
Wheres the problem? xD

Parrying irl:Explaining required
Parrying in games:Just press the block button right before an attack
Now you just need to weapon swap to a dagger, use a gold pine bundle, do a little spin, and riposte
Parry with swing your hand and turn 360 degree x2 times and stab it . Dont forget to point down.
In the videogame For Honor, the parry is very effective. It's a fun game!
Best parrying guide on this website.

The way you left the room and turned off the light while the other guy was just standing there with all the gear on
Nice video, better test the technique on bullets to see if it works on projectile attacks
You'd need plates of metal to be able to parry projectiles, other than the requirement, yep
The new deepwoken tutorial is really hard

@@TomtensKanal umm no parrying gives you a guaranteed light or heavy depending on what attack you parried
Just press L1
Parry doesn't work with synthetic longswords. But I call them bastard swords, the hilt handles are too short to be called a longsword.
Tf is a synthetic longsword? 💀
This is helpful
I have no clue in this field but that just seems like blocking not parry where it’s being almost deflected
blocking is full stopping the enemy bade
parry is somewhat guiding the enemy blade away from you.
A parry is just a timed block.
