Hi Maia, omg just came across your beautiful channel.
I have been binge watching you for the last few hours.
Your tutorials are so fantastic.
I have been colouring since I was a child, I'm 57 now, but I also suffer with dyslexia, which isn't just limited to reading, I have a hard time understanding where light should be on a page, and we're to shade, I also have several ailments, 2 are osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia so my hands aren't that good.
You have explained more to me in the last few hours than anyone on youtube that I've watched in the last few months.

Here in Australia we don't have Barnes & Noble. What a fabulous store - so large. Thankyou for sharing.
We used to but they closed down. I loved this store you could get a coffee and look through books to decide which one you wanted. Also sold magazines .The one I remember was at Tuggerah on the central Coast in NSW. I think there used to be one at Newcastle as well. Thank you for showing this I have a lot of good memories with my children when they were young hanging out in this store. My daughter, now a mother as well, is an author by the name of Ella Fields and still loves to read when she has time.

Hi Maia I love ❤️ watching your channel thank you for sharing a video of the book shop and pictures of the discount store.. and thank you for mentioning Australia in your videos and other countries too much appreciated it.. it gets annoying watching other channels do different things on their channels and only mentioned USA or UK as u are aware there is different people watching not just in those countries.. Another great video! The chalky paints--they may not work as artist grade watercolors should, but they make a nice opaque first layer for colored pencils!

I love having a nosey around your shops, it's interesting to see what you have. Reminders me of Boarder book shops, (we used to have them, but they went bust here) I do miss a good bookshop, I'd have to go into the city for a good one now, but I can never persuade myself, as It means catching the bus!😂 The oil pastel backgrounds look great, but of gosh the feel of oil pastels, I just can't!😉Interesting as always, I'll look forward to the next one, x 👍

A long time ago I used to have a set of cheap Michael's chalky watercolors. I also really liked them. Now I am sad that I got rid of them. 😕 Also, now I am thinking of going to Five below just for that tin. I really need a tin like that!! Have a great day Maia!! 😉🤍🖖👽
Lol dont worry you can always get them for cheap again on Amazon or Michales , ya i used to use the Artist loft ones and then i gave them to my kids, but it was pretty good . Ya Five below can have some gems among the trash, but keep your receipt in case you want to return
Maia!!! Another wonderful video full of inspiring ideas and information. Barnes and Noble looks incredible, the bookstores in the Uk are rubbish compared to that, colouring books are not really the big hype they were a few years ago so the selection is really poor. Wish we had Barnes and Noble here in the UK . We have Waterstones but the colouring book selection in the one near me is rubbish .

Good Morning, Maia! Can You believe it, we don't have a Book Store where I live! I go to the Barnes and Noble in Medford Oregon and the selection of Coloring Books is extremely poor. When My Son and his Family lived in Reno, Nevada I would spend the whole day at the Barnes and Noble there, Two Stories of Books! Great to know that the satin glaze liquid works as a fixative for oil pastels because I bought a cheaper set to try them and wasn't sure how to fix them properly because I couldn't found a lot about it in the Internet. And the spray I found was super expensive. Will have to look if I find that affordable here in Germany, because we don't have all the Qor products. (Still waiting for the new watercolor colors)
Hi hun !! You dont have to get the Golden brand, any slow drying acrylic extentender would work !! Maybe even try clear gesso if you can find it
@@coloredbymaia6476 thank you for that tip 💜 I do have gesso, but it has a sandy feeling and I don't like that so much. Bought it because a lot of colorist said they use gesso as a base for watercolors, but that worked worse for me. Maybe it's because of how the gesso is and with another it would work better, that I can't say. But I will try use it over oil pastels, maybe that way I can use it at least.
@@arsinoe8336 ya try it over the pastels and see how you like it. Another tip for clear gesso is that you have to water it down and apply a super thin layer in order to base a page for watercolors, try that too. Its all trial and error with these coloring book papers they are all different

Hi, I think you're right about supporting bookstores, but I have to say the bookstores here in Belgium have a really poor selection of colouring books 😢 Your oil pastel backgrounds look great! Thanks for the tips on covering the black lines, that's very useful too. Do you have any recommendations for a cheaper set of metallic watercolours? I'm saving up for some Coliros, but I would like to have a bigger range of colours to start with. I've been looking for colour shift paints too for backgrounds, but apparently they are not available in Europe, or at least not at a decent price. I'll have to go to an art store to see if they have something similar. Unfortunately we don't have the cheaper kind of art stores here either. Sometimes I really envy you guys in the US 😅. Lol i love your youtube name !!! So awesome, i know i tell you that everytime. Um whats in my set is,….. lets see , the 24 pencils that it comes with plus, a cream, a chartrues , limepeel, aquamarine, another darker blue and light aqua, maybe a peach too, and a corally red. Its kind of random but i do know that it needs more greens and also a normal blue.
