    My Wife and I really enjoy your videos. We agree on your feeling for Maggie Valley. I've been going there most of my life (75 Years). I lived there for four years during my career with Bellsouth. I am very thankful for your Christian Testimony. Keep it up and God Bless both of you. We live in NC Southern Piedmont, about 90 mile southeast of Y'all.

    Thanks for the thorough review. And thanks for the update on the bedbug motel in Waynesville. The last thing you wanna do is deal with bedbugs and then accidentally bring them home. Best thing to do if that happens is as soon as you get home put every stitch of clothes in the dryer on high heat, because that’s about the only thing that seems to kill bedbugs is high heat.

      You got to see the snow! We didn’t get much here. It got bitter cold though! I went a few nights worrying about my water pipes, but thankfully, it all went well. Old homes, you have to worry with a lot in the miuntains.

      Thankfully, you didn't have any problems with your water pipes. That is definitely a concern when it is this cold.

Got to change to the one assigned to us the next morning. They had it cleaned and ready in no time. Loved seeing this review, brought back memories of our trip. Thank you for the review. We have never visited Maggie Valley. This looks perfect for us. What are your favorite things to do in Maggie Valley? We are not too familiar. Would probably be visiting in the summer months. Will definitely watch your restaurant reviews in the area as well.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 місяців тому +1

      Maggie Valley is a beautiful place to relax and take in the mountain scenery. As far as activities, it is not like the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge side of the Park. It is far more laid back.
      What we recommend, is getting on the Blue Ridge Parkway and driving and just taking in the overlooks. Take in a sunrise or sunset at Waterrock Knob. It is famous for both, as it has openings facing to the East and to the West.
      We would also recommend Cataloochee Valley to see the elk. Be aware that the road into there can be tough, and you might want to watch our other video on that. But that is easily doable if you are staying in Maggie Valley.
      There are many short hikes in the area, including a walk to Soco Falls. Get a room that has a balcony facing Jonathan Creek, and just sit on your deck and relax. If you did go in the winter, they have snow skiing at Cataloochee. I know you said you want to go in the summer, and that is a great time to go, as well. It is usually not hot in the summer as it is in the lower altitudes.
      Drive across the mountain 15 miles, and check out the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Take in the outdoor drama called "Unto These Hills", which tells the story of the Trail of Tears, which is the removal of the Cherokee from their native land.
      Those are the highlights that come to mind immediately.

    • @paulettebrochet2011
      @paulettebrochet2011 7 місяців тому

      @NCMemoryMakers thank you so very much. What is the "rough road" you are talking about? Is there another road to take in its place to the area? We love the BRP. We are not too familiar with Cherokee or Maggie Valley. This is helpful. We were thinking about coming from Gatlinburg to Maggie Valley to relax...this looks perfect. Love sitting outside,listening to the river,and we enjoy hiking. We have not gone to Soco falls,its on our list. Thank you so very much.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 місяців тому

      @paulettebrochet2011 The road I'm talking about, is the road into Cataloochee Valley. Not the road into Maggie Valley itself. I'm simply suggesting Cataloochee as an option of an activity to do. But the road to it, is one you will need to use extreme caution on. You can either come in from Tennessee, or from Maggie Valley. Both ways, it is a very narrow and rough dirt road in spots...Some blind curves. If you are careful and drive slow, you'll be fine. Just want to prepare you.
      You can see a little bit of the road at the end of our video, on the Cataloochee Valley, from October of 2022.

    Why didn’t you move once you realized it wasn’t a no smoking room?

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 місяців тому

      Because it is a non-smoking room now. At one time, it wasn't. That's why there was just a slight lingering odor.
      Plus, it was the last pet-friendly room they had. We had no choice.

    I noticed at the beginning of the video that you said they offered room service. I thought room service was ordering food from the motel. You said if you don't want room service you can place the placard on the door. Am I mistaken with the meaning of room service? Love the video though

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 місяців тому

      I probably should have said maid service. Meaning, that they come by and clean your room and make up your bed each day. Pretty much all motels used to do this, but now very few do.

    I have a lot different opinion about motel floors. I can’t stand the hard cold echoey floors that a lot of motels are “updating” their rooms with. I get it that carpet can seem like it’s dirtier, but if it’s vacuumed properly, it doesn’t bother me. I’m getting older and my feet can’t take the hard coldness as much anymore, lol. I actually won’t stay in a motel that has echoey floors like that, very uncomfortable.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 місяців тому +1

      I understand. As long as the floor is clea, I'm not bothered either way.
      Maybe a pair of slippers or something that are padded and warm, might be helpful. You could put them on the minute you get out of the bed.
      But I understand what you're saying. The thing about it, is that most pet friendly rooms are going to have hard floors like this.
