Funny timing. We visited a friend last night and there was one of these on the entry gate to the complex. As my GF was waiting for someone to buzz us in I said "I could probably open that lock more quickly". "Probably" as she chuckled.
After not getting anywhere with home made picks, got my wifes small metal nail file with cuticle hook, used tin snips to fashion a pick about 3mm wide with cuticle hook at end. The 3mm wide bit needs to be about 20-25mm long and connected to the rest of the file body. After cutting with precise tin snips had to flatten and straighten DIY pickwith hammer on flat metal surface. Secret to use pick is to get under bar and push up and pull towards you. Didnt work until I realized need to use left Wheel adjacent space to pull bar against number wheels. If pull firmly can almost stop each wheel from turning and then when get to the correct number everything seems to jump wth wheel and pick falling into position. If put hook into other wheel slots not as easy to identify correct number.
But they have name recognition. Master is, for some reason, very popular. So when people try to search for if their lock is safe, they'll probably be searching for Master locks
it was close to the correct combo, and pulling on the bar simply aligned all the wheels. im not sure how far away they can be though, maybe half a number?
Four years later and this is just as easy. My reno contractor used one and even without tools i opened it and took it off the door and told them to try harder. I should've changed the combo and sold them the new code.
Thanks LPL. We have a bunch of these exact model at work and I'll suggest to my boss that we only use them in hidden locations such as inside meterboxes. Where there is no good location to hide them we'll use our Abus ones which seem a lot better made anyway.
"Sure, Master lock tried to address the old vulnerability, but here's another one that works even faster"... gotta love it. You'd like to think that any decent lock company would have a group of folks that try to explore exploits on their product offerings so that they could be addressed before making it to market! Apparently some companies are better at this than others... I suppose any security measure is just a delay, but you hope for more than a minute!

@@lockpickinglawyer Quick question: The specific lock pick you used - where can one buy one? or what are these tools commonly named?
@@fyvp1234 You probably know this by now, but the final tool he used was a standard lockpick "hook", a very thin one
@@Adrian-dl9nb those thin picks are referred to as "european profile" picks...if you enter that term in your search engine, you'll see that there more than a few companies that market them, and not many will ask for a locksmith license #...just shop around... 😉👍👌
You have the advantage of knowing how it's put together, internally. Thank you.
Lock: *exists*
lockpicks and keys: *we're about to end this whole man's career*
You once said that your videos would be boring if you showed only ordinary locks... But I never get tired of how you destroy them.
Master Lock: "Goddamnit!"
Don't know how I ended up watching your videos months ago, but so glad I did. Keep it up man, always happy to see a new vid posted!
I swear you were going to take a hammer to that plastic body when you said there was a far faster and easier way to get into it....
That could damage the keys inside.
It's not a plastic body. That's a rubberised coating only, it's actually all metal construction at least.
I love that these videos are so short! I wouldn't watch them otherwise. LPL has a really good video-making formula!😉👍
He's made me interested in something I'm not interested in LOL
Masterlock: updates lock to fix vulnerabilities
lockpickinglawyer: ight im about to end this man's whole career
Thank You! You save my safe for keys :) I tried brutal force two hours, your method one minute :) i haven't tools, but i bought feeler at 3$ and use 0.3mm leaf, thank you again :)
I wonder what lock LockPickingLawyer uses to lock his own stuff!
What a savior! I forgot the code to one on my house and used the tweezers off a Swiss Army Knife! Awesome
fascinating, as always. is there a good alternative?
Yes, every other Lock of that kind in existance. Or you can just use a small cardboard box, this will protect your keys even better than this lock.
@@orangensirup5539 The Abus 787 is a far superior design. Whilst not impregnable, the security features have been well thought out and offer a considerable challenge to even professional locksmiths.
Phil S There's also Abloy KD202 if you are willing to make a hole in the wall and it's not a house made of sticks.
Confirmed! just tested this method on one we had at the shop. Nice work as always.
Yooo my parents have one of these for a set of house keys, got any replacement locks you recommend?
Thank you, magically the combination was reset during a delivery and gate key is inside the key box.
Video 9 *69* nice. Either way great video
Very nicely figured out - great job.
Wow, I think I will put one of these on my door and hide my key under a rock instead.
Don't forget to put some keys into it that don't fit any lock on your house for maximum confusion.
@@johnathanmcdoe but of course. 😂
MasterLock upgrade the core and manage to cut the decoded time in half, awesome job as always.
LPL: I have another master lock to show you.
Me: Stop! It’s (master lock) already dead!
Man you have been racking up the videos on master lock here recently.
Brilliant !!, I really like to see the homework and not just the open. Thank you and have a nice day as well....
ML website says 5400D Key Box is,
quote: “ keyless convenience and
increased security.” What’s increased security mean???
Over leaving things in the open, unlocked. I mean, it did take ~30 seconds to unlock this - that's increased over *no* lock.
@@DanStaal I dunno, it probably takes 30 seconds to find a key hidden under a flower pot compared to decoding the not-hidden box on the door.
@@ThePlayListOfPower That would be leaving it *locked,* with the key available. I was saying it's increased over *unlocked.*
Funny timing. We visited a friend last night and there was one of these on the entry gate to the complex. As my GF was waiting for someone to buzz us in I said "I could probably open that lock more quickly". "Probably" as she chuckled.
Think master lock should be renamed to novice lock
Jimbo ... or how about "JustForLooks Lock"
I just love hearing your voice, it's so calming.
"And I'll show you how fast and easy this is"
Well, the video is more than half over......
Get yourself a challenge, those Master Locks are a child's play for you...
But they have name recognition. Master is, for some reason, very popular. So when people try to search for if their lock is safe, they'll probably be searching for Master locks
They have name recognition because they're cheap and widely available.
Learned how to decode this lock today thanks to your video!
It almost looks like the lock just flipped to the right combo. That's how bad it is.
it was close to the correct combo, and pulling on the bar simply aligned all the wheels. im not sure how far away they can be though, maybe half a number?
Matthew Shaw I tested this... three dials can be a full number away, and the pressure will snap them into position. 😳
@@lockpickinglawyer Oh great now the lock just picks itself.. Lock: ok why don't we both just agree you picked me already and you just go away.
@@lockpickinglawyer It's ridiculous regardless, but yeah it looked just like the tension pulling the combo together. Keep up the good work man!
Four years later and this is just as easy. My reno contractor used one and even without tools i opened it and took it off the door and told them to try harder. I should've changed the combo and sold them the new code.
"in any case" - Lock Picking LAWYER...I see what you did there...
Thanks LPL. We have a bunch of these exact model at work and I'll suggest to my boss that we only use them in hidden locations such as inside meterboxes. Where there is no good location to hide them we'll use our Abus ones which seem a lot better made anyway.
Master lock?
Pffft
More like Busted Lock
More like Master Lack.
I had forgotten the code on an old one of these, kudos to you, I can now use it again.
Want to hear a joke?
Sorry to disappoint you.
Just did this on the wall mounted version. 🙌🏼
After all those videos I have seen about master lock, I am really confident that design engineers of master lock, always leave on purpose a back door in every master lock !!!
I’m a fan and have been watching since the beginning. I would like to see a video or video series that outlines the most stout and difficult to pick and or impossible to pick locks. That would be fun! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. It took me longer of course. The free spot wasn't as much as a difference as I was expecting. So I needed a much lighter touch.
Before watching these things, I had relative comfort and only a slight paranoia issue. Now thanks to LPL, I weld my door shut every time I leave the house!
Master lock is the bomb
Ain't nobody bustin that lock
Amazing. Lost a key to a job site but saw one of these on the railing. Made a tool by flattening a paperclip with a hammer and opened it right up.
I'm a part time burglar and every time I run into a lock I just see if theres a video on it. Just scored some gold, birth certificate and a pistol, thanks LPL!
Jack Kuehneman Nice you left your name. Lock picking patrolman is on the case to find you.
@@RevMarket they'll never catch me alive
I have such a lock in my garage holding some keys to the house. I always thought it was a very safe box, but now I learned differently :D
