As a connoisseur of batting technique [filth] I feel I must express my admiration for the legendary Del's exceedingly late cut, executed to perfection mere seconds after the ball had reached the wicket keeper. Form is temporary but class is permanent, as they say.
you always know its going to be a great tea when you see a proudly displayed homemade Victoria sponge that has been elevated amongst all the other items on a silver cake stand that has been passed down through cricketing generations!
Nice one. Will miss Dan's dulcet tones next weekend but looking forward to the Mumbai game. Favourite cake: coffee and walnut or fruit cake. Mind you, chocolate cake rarely disappoints. All washed down with the finest wines available to humanity. We want them here and we want them now!
Nice one - great film reference! And a Donald Fagen fan too, by the profile pic. A man of taste, apart from cakes - you can’t put coffee in them, it’s just plain wrong!
A bit late as catching up after a holiday, love a bit of Sunday filth as always and really appreciate Del’s efforts to colour co-ordinate his hat with the chair at 18:39, can only assume it’s to signify it’s his and no-one else can use it
Never mind the cricket-The Commentating was pure vintage, brilliant -It was the best I've heard since Michael Foot......anyway-Beans on Toast for my breakfast now.
I am a happy Man !!! saw Mr. Dereck hitting a four and finishing the match not out !!! thats great !!! LOl !! i see mostly sunday matches cricket videos because of Mr. Dereck ! big fan of him... And why not ??? in another note Mr. Allen u are telling me that 2 members of SCC have the ground as their backyard almost??? they can just cross that door and be in the old sawmill ??? what a lucky chaps !!! wich i can do that some day !!!!
More sanga's, fruit platters, sausage rolls, party pies and the slackers bring chocolate biscuits or bun loaf down here. We do get home made scones with jam and cream and the rare chocolate / mud cake but when it's 35 deg in the shade, the icing tends to get a bit messy!😏
Chocolate Fudge Cakes always a win win!! you should have a fruit n vegetable 11..you have celery, lemon, tomato palfrey, jackfruit coles, dev macadamia,
Mmmmm cake!! Any type of cake is good! Can't wait to see the Mumbai game.Hope the walking holiday goes well.Shame about your weather sounds like it was pretty poor all round England.
These videos really do cheer me up, i love the game at all standards but the SKY boys could learn from the sarcasm and dry wit of Dan "Got a hoody on, that's.... interesting"
Thanks for this - I agree that sports commentary in general has devolved into hyping up excitement at every opportunity. It’s about appealing to the lowest common denominator - I’m doing my bit to help retain a bit of subtlety, wit, humour etc. all influenced by the likes of Peter Allis, Gower, Aggers, Johnners etc And Why Not?! (Thanks to Barry Norman’s spitting image puppet for that one!)
Not as filthy as expected! Dell was pretty good, often times the ball went in the direction intended. Hope your bit of a break goes well and that the Gods of weather smile upon you.
Some of that bowling reminded me of WW1 grenade throwing practice, superb........Deffo better than this world Cup for viewing.....enjoy your break Dan....
@@SandersteadCCTV perhaps world Cup over grandioses it......the one I keep watching till stupid o clock with dodgy wickets ,although west indies scored well tonite so hopefully the cricket will improve as we get to later stages.Been hardly the showcase the powers that be wanted ,although the purists will love it, not sure if the American market will, guess time will tell. That world Cup 😁
At least there is village Sunday cricket. Weather was horrible Saturday almost everywhere I think. Cake for me- Jamaica Ginger cake. I’m also one of those strange people who eats fig rolls. I find the ones from Aldi and Lidl a bit “juicier” 😅. I destroy fig rolls and like a fig roll monster. No new years weight loss resolution for me ever!
Hi Bob - good news here with wins for the 1s, 2s and 4s - 3s game still going. Here’s the 1s scorecard - greetings from the Peak District! sanderstead.play-cricket.com/website/results/6178444
Yes - did the Castleford-Losehill-Mam Tor-winnatts pass walk today. Beautiful weather, stunning views! Might take in Ladybower on Sunday…lovely part of the world!
Ah “the great ridge” walk. Done that many of times and it never fails to deliver. Did you manage any other walks? My daughter and I did a circular around kinder Scout Sunday. Hope you enjoyed your time up North. Would have been lovely to have accidentally bumped into you! Take care
We also did Lantern Pike, the B29 crash site nr the Snake Pass summit, Padley Gorge and Dovedale. Loved it all and will return - Glossop was a great base.
How idyllic that 2 of the stalwarts of the club live within spitting distance of the pitch. Don't Co done spitting on the pitch though! Checked the dictionary to see if I could submit "bootage" as a 7 letter word on Countdown, alas no😢. Enjoyed the match and commentary as always. Torn between daughter in laws homemade Lemmon drizzle or shop bought coffee and walnut though be lucky to see a Jaffa cake at present whilst the diet doctor is in charge.
Magnificent filth, as usual, excellent to watch! Regarding cakes - not that I am in any position to comment on its suitability for a cricket tea, being neither a chef nor a cricketer, but someone I know makes a lovely German apple cake. Failing that, you can't beat a lemon drizzle, can you?
@@SandersteadCCTV Captain Mainwaring would definitely have something to say! Though I do remember one German first-class cricketer (think he is/was at Leicestershire but can't for the life of me remember the name), so that can be my excuse!

@@SandersteadCCTV 😃😃
agree with you on both counts
Village Gold - "Oh god, he's run a single...!!!"
Love it!
Excellent bowling by Haynsie concealing break and spin.
Fave cake mega dense fruit cake
Very enjoyable viewing from the Northern Line on my way to Finchley Central. Taking advantage of underground 5G!
Young lad who kept wicket looks another good lad coming through
He really is - knocked the runs off with ease at the end. U15

Thanks - but Michael Foot?!? The ex-Labour leader?
@@SandersteadCCTV Might listen to my Ed Sheeran records now.
That hatrick ball looked like jug avoidance delivery, assuming that one would be needed for a completed hatrick and one for a 5for
We used to play against Sandringham, at their ground we had strawberries and cream and a huge raspberry cake, plus subsidised cider at 90p a pint.
Excellent - that’s the Queen for you!
Hope you don't mind guys but we at WLDCC are shamefully going to knick your yearbook idea! What a wonderfully well put together concept!
Please do! We use a design tool called Canva to create it- really easy to use

I don't think you can beat a good quality Victoria Sandwich Dan.
Good call
Couldn’t beat a nice slice of Malt loaf with lashing of countrylife butter

Well Dan, my nan used to make the most wonderful apple pie, with apples from their garden. Therefore apple pie would be my favourite choice

Lemon dizz here as well Dan. Not opposed to a moist fruit cake slice though.

We used to have Grannies High Tea. Don’t know what was in it but it was delicious.

strawberry tarts with evap milk or big slice of new york cheese cake ... nom nom :)

cos their professionals
Coffee and Walnut or Lemon Drizzle washed down with a good strong cup of tea and some filth in the field

Hello, Dan! Will we see some 3rd XI action?
Probably not unless a home 1s/2s game finishes early and leaves time for some 3rd XI action on our second pitch
Classic Victoria sponge, Matt J looked good behind the stumps and with the bat, do you know if you are filming any more U14s matches? Look a good side
He’s a quality player, in our U15s. More U14s coming as soon as I can - and possibly a Sussex tour in August!
Thanks mate
That hatrick ball and for his fifer looked an awful lot like jug evasion to me and should be charged as such retrospectively 😂😂😂
