Hi Christine! I need some advice! (Sorry if this is long). Just for some background info, I'm going into my junior year, and I'm not striving for Ivies--I am, however, looking into top 25/top 50 schools in the U.S. I've gotten straight A's (including 2 or 3 A-'s) throughout freshman and sophomore year. Last year, I also took AP World and scored a 5 on the exam. I need some advice on my schedule next year--I'm planning on taking APUSH, APES, AP Stat, and DE Lang/Comp (I plan on taking the AP Lang exam). For electives, I am taking the Newspaper--I took it last year and became an editor this year--and I am doing Writing Center as a writing tutor. I did Spanish for 5 years, and am choosing not to go into AP. I'm wondering, should I tough it out and take AP Calc or stick with AP Stat (I chose it because I am taking a doubleblocked science and didn't want to be too stressed out). Also, does this schedule seem competitive? My extracurriculars are pretty strong--I play tennis, have a UA-cam channel, participate in Marine Conservation Club, go to Sunday School, and I have two jobs (one as an unpaid volunteer). I also plan on starting a Bullet Journaling club next year and being in NHS. I just really want to get your opinion! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!! I know you have no obligation to make this video, but this gave me so much hope to apply to Harvard Early action. Seeing someone like you to whom I share many similarities with gives the motivation to apply. Thanks again!🥰
I hope I get into this really selective high school, I have mostly A’s 2 A+, one A-, and unfortunately one B+. With my grades throughout my 7th and 8th grade years I am confident I will be excepted. My overall average in 7th grade was a 96.78% an overall A. Finally my 8th grade overall average is a 95.12%. I hope I get into that high school and any other schools that follow :)

We know us as students from latin countries can't do all that cool stuff bc we don't have as much opportunities as US HS students have. So you don't have to feel like a failure ur just great, just keep motivated :)
This vids always make me wonder if I’m doing enough and/or the right extracurriculars. Cause I do Basketball and Karate, I am in the leading team for a religious and political youthgroup, I am tutoring kids math middle school, I am class president (I’m in my 10th year and wanna run for head girl in junior and senior year), I play piano concerts + take lessons and I also will put baking and cooking on my application because it’s an insanely big part of my life and I try to get an longterm internship at a law firm during my junior and senior year. Additionally I did an one year exchange program. DISCLAIMER: I am from Germany and therefore apply to colleges as international student
I’m a freshman in high school and I’m taking all of the opportunities I can but we don’t have many AP classes or honor society kind of things so I’m not sure how to make my college applications look good when I need to. We also have required classes that they don’t offer honors or AP for that bring my GPA down. Right now it’s at a 4.3 but I think by senior year when I can take more APs (I’m taking one right now because it’s all they offer for freshman and I tested in) it might get to around a 4.4-5 at the highest. I also like to be involved in the musical which counts as a college prep class and is bringing my GPA down.
Sometimes I feel like I wont make it because I live in a rural area where my highschool class is 20-25 with a lot being migrant and moving around so we have like 15-20 in class at times. And our schools are EXTREMELY low funded. We use a lot of old supplies and well, teachers are leaving here and there. Last year we lost about half our teachers (reminder: small school so little teachers) so a lot of classes were dropped. Also, in pretty sure our highschool has no record into anyone getting into an ivy league school 😔 I'm scared
This almost makes me nervous? meaning I'm a sub in a public school. Its not all "academic" so to speak. There are a lot of issues in some students in relation to their character. It is good to know that someone knows their "polynomials" home life is pretty important. Grandma? aunt? Ill cousin? Future spouse? other extended family? (they are related to someone on ancestry heritage websites these days.... of course there are sociology classes in relation this this...but sometimes it is just plain faith related. Balance in life. Take things easy. Filling our HEARTS matters the most in the end-stages of life (aka the covid 19 issue)
This was really inspiring! Last year (sophomore year) I slacked off A LOT and when my grades came back I panicked because I was failing 3 classes, which had never happened to me before. It was a major wake up call, so I'm preparing for my junior year with the goal of a 3.8 GPA (at least) and being in the top 5% of my class. Good luck at Harvard, and great video!
mallory YOU WILL succeed!!! I was in the same position and ended up getting all As junior year!! Everything will work out. I’m in college now and things are going wayyyy better.

Also I aid at my religious school as well!

I hope I get into that high school and any other schools that follow :)
you're so lucky. i get mostly c's and i'm going into 11th grade and i try so hard ):
@@okaypearl oh wow ur a senior noww?
how's highschool going?
@@aurora-cc6hk i live in australia and i'm class of '21 so if i was living in the usa, i would be a senior :) still in 11th though and my grades have actually improved! i will be starting 12th grade next january.
okay so one question - how did you manage to take all those classes and doing all the extra stuff? i am shoook! how did you extend the day? please send me the tips haha. im not from us tho or other country that english is first language in, im from poland and i dont have time in school year! i only have time to do my homework, study for all of the subjects (keep in mind i dont have the same classes every day - each day i have something little bit different, in total i had like 14 or 15 classes last year). you're a hero to me! in fact, i think you are a superwoman! keep doing all the amazing things. big congratulations on getting into the ivys
Imagine being this smart
I wish I found this video earlier. Also, HOW THE HELL DID U GET A 1550 ON THE SAT!? I only got a 1310 on my first SAT(which is why I submitted my ACT instead)
I wish I could take honors classes. I’m a sophomore and I go to a charter school due to my sport. The honors and AP classes are on days that conflict with my schedule ;-;
congrats! i was wondering, did you refer to your extracurricular activities throughout your application, like in your essay?
I'm in 8th grade..... but I'll take the advice :)
amazing video!! Thank you for the advice !!
Honestly if I didn't have PE I could get all A's but unfortunately I'll never keep an A in PE because I'm just not athletic 😭
Wut? I'm not that athletic but I still got a A, you basically just show up everyday and just play.
How do you do so many things???? It seems so stressful. I'm going into freshman year and now I'm like freaked out about doing good. Omg how did you do it🤐😬
Imagine being beautiful and smart at the same time
Please do a time management video!! Xx
So your super smart basically. Can u talk about how u chose your majors and what u wanna do with them?
This is so off topic but you are so pretty and cute! You look like the baby filter on Snapchat😩
your video made me cry because I feel like such a failure :((
We know us as students from latin countries can't do all that cool stuff bc we don't have as much opportunities as US HS students have. So you don't have to feel like a failure ur just great, just keep motivated :)
Welp.. I’m a freshman and I don’t even have those classes offered at my private IB school tf
omg IB school gang
This vids always make me wonder if I’m doing enough and/or the right extracurriculars. Cause I do Basketball and Karate, I am in the leading team for a religious and political youthgroup, I am tutoring kids math middle school, I am class president (I’m in my 10th year and wanna run for head girl in junior and senior year), I play piano concerts + take lessons and I also will put baking and cooking on my application because it’s an insanely big part of my life and I try to get an longterm internship at a law firm during my junior and senior year. Additionally I did an one year exchange program. DISCLAIMER: I am from Germany and therefore apply to colleges as international student
watching this video makes me even more proud and happy for you bb as i watch this almost 2 AM
I'm a freshman too lol
Colleges see what courses your school is offering and how well you are doing so if you take less AP classes due to the school... then that's ok
Wow, you look amazing!! I loved your new hair:) Brasil here hehe
I'm from Brazil too
I may have not been first,
I definitely won’t be last
But as soon as I saw this video
I sure as hell clicked fast !
Also, in pretty sure our highschool has no record into anyone getting into an ivy league school 😔 I'm scared
it's crazy how much americans have time for extracurricular activities and how many are actually available at their schools !!!
you’re the cutest i love u
im going into sophomore year and im worried ab all these tests 😐 like i get straight As and do well on my exams but sats seem so intimidating :(
well, good luck! I hope you do well :)
idk why I'm watching this because I'm in 7th grade, but I take the SAT for Duke TIP. Is there any suggestions to help me reach my goal of 1100?
The first thing that drew my attention were those eyes... Oh my goodness, you have extremely lovely eyes!
This almost makes me nervous? meaning I'm a sub in a public school. Its not all "academic" so to speak. There are a lot of issues in some students in relation to their character. It is good to know that someone knows their "polynomials"
home life is pretty important. Grandma? aunt?
@@poliknoy that's awesome!! Thanks for that, I'm going to try my best and work my butt off 😂
Great. I'm never going to Harvard.
My school doesn’t even offer calc bc until 12th. Wtf
I loved your Channel and videos before watching this one lol 😂 I now feel like a useless piece of poop
U’re so pretty!! 😍💞
I wish I was smart even after so much studying....
oh so you smart smart
Seeing your video makes me want to redo high school but kind of late, I graduated 8 years ago LOL
Just saw she graduated from Harvard ❤️ time flies. So proud of you ❤ keep inspiring!
I am a sophomore and I barely have time for the extracurricular activities I do, I am a volunteer at my schools college and career counseling center, I am the secretary of my philosophy club, member of FBLA/DECA, and am the captain of my rowing team at my school. Also I aid at my religious school as well!
essays were definitely 🔥
Can you please do a time management video like how you schedule your day to be productive. Like fun stuff outside of school and how much time you spend studying/ doing hw.
i cannot there are people that exist (like you) who are able to achieve such high scores and grades. SO IMPRESSIVE teach me your waysss
Thank you so much for making this video, you are humble and such an inspiration.
We need more UA-camrs like this ❤️ keep up the amazing work girl
Congrats on all your hard work and acceptances you are amazing! I was wondering what awards/honors you had on your common app?
How are you in algebra two in freshman in Spanish 4 my God
my counselor went on leave last year because he was under suspicion of making inappropriate advances towards senior girls. what fun.
As a senior with similar stats, you give me hope!
“Stats aren’t everything omg guys!” Has 4.6 with entirely A’s lol
I told my swim coach that my mom had surgery and could not drive me to practice (which is true) and that was the reason why I had missed 4 practices ( and they had tryouts the week before so it wasn't a big deal) and he said, "You have a shit ton of excuses, don't you." :/ nice
hi!! i’m a junior right now and i have finals next week. my weighted sophomore/freshman gpa is a 4.25 weighted and a 4.0 unweighted. hoping all goes well next week and next semester, i will have a 5.0 this year. my ACT is 36 but i feel like even w my stats and i do a lot of extracurriculars, i am worried about not getting into my top schools like harvard, yale, and stanford. any thoughts?
@@user-oe3lz9fz3o still have not gotten any decisions LOL but I have submitted 7 apps so far - Stanford REA, Boston College, UW (Seattle), and 4 UC's! Maybe I will come back to this when I get my decisions :)
@@kaylanalee186 how did it go??
@@kaylanalee186 how did it go? If you don’t mind me asking
its okay to fail as long as you don't fail your classes :(
I moved and left all my friends and now I’m a freshman with no friends but like everyone looks like they have friends so I just find a bench and eat alone. It’s only my second day so far but I really am not liking high school and I feel so lonely even in class when sitting with people
It gets better! Trust me!! And I probably shouldn't say this but: don't trust anyone blindly because at the end of the day, you don't know these people but you'll make amazing friendships
This video honestly makes me feel better because it feels like every havard/Yale admit has a HUGE thing, like they had the cure to cancer, so this honestly makes me feel better :)
