9:32 You notice all those cool colored layers of rock in the canyon there are not the Sierra granite you find everywhere else. It's metamorphic rock that rose up through the Sierra Nevada 80 million years ago when the range looked more like the Cascade range. A pluton that's been folded and bent to form these layers of rock that at one time were probably 15 miles beneath the surface and were forced up through subduction, when the western Sierra foothills was coastline.
Wow, love that back country. The drone footage was awesome! I have to see that lake... hope you can do it later when the roads are clear. Bud's trail pack looked good on him, he is ranger ready! 👍❤👍
14:14 You're looking straight out at the Resurgent Dome, where after the cataclysmic eruption of the Long Valley Caldera the center of the caldera began to rise out of the depression, and is still rising today roughly 1-2 inches per year.
Yes, a really nice day to spend a Monday in such spectacularly beautiful country... ...and I just keep saying to myself (and to Mrs. Grumpy Forester if she's in the room when I'm watching) "I just gotta get me one of these UTV things!!" I spent a career driving sketchy roads like this with agency pickups and SUV's, but it would be sooo cool to do it in something like these Rangers....not to mention the snowplowing capability, Mrs. Grumpy Forester if you're listening...ahem.... Again, it really is such a beautiful landscape and I really need to get down there sometime to see it in person, because I know that video can't fully do it justice...
Over 30 years ago when I was going up to stay at Parcher’s Resort on the South Fork of Bishop Creek, I found the most beautiful town, Aspendale! There are a couple of beautiful houses up there that are for sale that would be amazing to spend a year up there to see what it would be like. I’m sure that the winter is rough when you live just below the locked winter gate.
Can you imagine the first people to ever step foot through that country? Oh my God, the wildlife oh man that would’ve been something just been there hard time but I bet it was beautiful time.
Maybe next time you can swing through the Sherwin Creek Campground. Do a drive through the upper and lower area of the campground? Like everyone else mentioned, great drone footage! Bears love cruising through there a various times, mostly at night! If you camp there, keep your food in the bear proof lockers otherwise they'll rip things apart to get to the yummies!! 😮 Gave Lori a thumbs up for her comment! 😉👍
What a great day you all had ! Love Buds backpack ! Where’s Sadie’s ? 😊 Drone was cool .. music perfect .. you just can’t beat the Sierra for beauty! Happy Memorial Day! Glad you had some fun over the weekend! Thanks for sharing 😊
In the comments I say that the Eastern Sierra is a spectacular place! There are a couple of houses north of Bishop and west of US395 with incredible Eastern Sierra views that I would love to own one of them!

Nice one Ben.Regards from the UK
Those trees you were passing on the way up look like Aspen. Aspen are clonal so they are all interconnected underground.
love them puppies
