Dude, i'm somewhat new to Isaac (saw a lot of videos before) and did Solar System on the second try. But Bloody Mary took me over 7 hours, so i just reset for Placenta and healed me up each floor. Fucking hate that challenge
20:30 I COMPLETELY disagree with this assessment. It doesn't just "make Lazarus bleed more", *it gives Lazarus the item Anemic as a starting item.* What's the difference? Well, there's two relevant ones. 1. Since you have Anemic to start, it's taken out of the Treasure Room pool entirely, very slightly increasing the quality of those items. This is an extremely minor effect you will never explicitly notice and almost never happens, but it COULD happen before the unlock, and it CAN'T happen after. 2. *Anemic is a Range Up.* Lazarus starts with a low Range stat, and starting with Anemic brings it roughly up to par. While it is true that Range is one of the least important stats, the problem with it is usually that you get it from ITEMS, and you'd much rather have an actually good item instead. Starting with Anemic forever is free. It's like huffing a Range Up pill for free at the start of every Lazarus run, and while Range Up certainly isn't the best pill, you still love to see it, because pills don't have that same opportunity cost problem as items. Because of this, I believe the Unlock rating for Backasswards should be brought up to 4/5. It's actually pretty good.
btw you can easily clear rooms by just running into enemies since you have E. Coli and the "Oh Crap" transformation which heals you whenever you destroy poops :)
Note on Cat got your tongue: You may have to just go to mom, but the second you are pitted against a boss that isn't Dingle or Montro, and you might as well bind everything to your R key.
Bobs brain is a very good item in the early game, especially if you struggle with alt path bosses because it's a boss killer. You can also got secret rooms and tinted rocks if you play it right, which is obviously valuable early game. It becomes an annoyance later when you don't need it, but I take it every time just for fun
i think backasswords is a great challenge. So unique but not too weird. Challenging but doable since you can hold R for random items. I think its great you can use it too as a way to learn mega satans attacks and how to dodge.
This is both entertaining and informative for a guy like me with skill issue or who only has mostly completed Isaac, Azazel and the Forgotten in other words
I still havent upgraded to repentance yet bc there's still a decent number of things that are just easier in ab+, like the forgotten unlock. If he did it in repentance, fair play, good for him. Otherwise, play az, hold r until pyromaniac, win run
Backasswards was such a pain to beat oh god. 5 hours of dying and resetting constantly until finally getting it, I was so extremely happy, and I really like Lazarus as well so it was a 10/10 to beat for me haha
Ok im here in the comments as the BRAINS fan, I have two dead gods and am working on a third and I just did this challenge for the third time and got it done second try (first run died in the chest). I dont think this challenge is that hard, it just takes a while, if youre comfortable with enemy attack patterns and such its not too hard to wait for an opening, what is important though is to not approach this challenge like you're playing normal isaac, cause bobs brain is a very weird item. Most people consider bobs brain a pretty bad item and in normal play id agree but in this challenge you can see how high its dps actually is when its the only form of damage you have to focus on. Honestly biggest issue with the challenge is some of the new rooms and enemies added in repentance in the cathedral, specifically the bishop has some very annoying rooms.
@@wolfpell4634While he becomes easy to no-hit (just sit behind him or angle shots), he’s still annoying to fight when he jumps to the top of the room and you play eyeball dodge simulator for like 10s while his jump is on Cooldown.

I think I’ve won the Delete This challenge 3 times, and on all 3 I’ve not gotten to blue baby once. Earliest I’ve gotten it is on the first floor, where I used my active item on the boss, it did nothing, but when I got hit, I blew up and a trophy alongside tons of pickups appeared 🤷🏽♂️

I found serpents kiss in a crawl space for hot potato and it made the run EZPZ, since you do a shit ton of contact and poison damage along with the bombs, and since you get black hearts with contact damage they drop constantly
In Red Redemption, every 5 rooms after running out of key charges another Esau spawns. If you get unlucky looking for the Mother fight you can have 4+ Esau’s on you (died twice there cause of this)
Bobs brain carried me through ultra hard, so I now give it some respect. I generally don’t like using it, but I’ll argue that it’s way better than people give it credit
If you hold down spacebar you will instantly use the explosive vest item making sure no enemies could ever touch you in blue bomber challenge and shredding bosses, I would move the difficulty to EZPZ just for that also it's like a two or three item run winner in normal runs
I like Bob's Brain because it's an item I take for my ego. Any self damage is skill issue, and it melts early-mid game bosses. To have fun with it, pick it up on a high range run, especially with continuum or an infinite range item. Obviously it's cracked with explosion immunity, too.
If Edmund ever does more updates, as unlikely as that is, I'd hope they decide to make some better rewards for the Afterbirth+ challenges. The literal hardest challenge in the game gives you diddley squat. Do they expect us to like that, or even encourage us to play it? No.
Also the only time I would recommend using suicide king is in either the chest or the dark room if you have an extra life to use. I did it once and it was worth
Just a tiny note about the unlock requirements for Darkness Falls: You have to have Sacrificial Dagger unlocked for the starting build, which means beating the Chest as Eve. Not sure if this has always been the case, but as of Repentance the unlock requirements should be: Darkness Falls: Defeat Mom's Heart 11 Times, Unlock Eve, AND Unlock Sacrificial Dagger (Defeat ??? as Eve)
The only solution to backasswards challenge is to find gnawed leaf and sth to do damage for you when you are afk and prey that item that was taken from you wasn't that much important in later/previous stage that's how I beat this challenge (I rolled gnawed leaf and a familiar and left this comp for a night and when I woke up mega satan still wasn't beaten xD)
i remember when i had to do onan's streak i ended up getting annoyed and restarting the run over and over until i got rotten baby, thought about it, then just used that and later on the finger for all of my damage instead of shooting lol
Gnawed Leaf made Hot Potato a joke. Not sure why but I was invincible the whole time I walked as long as I didn't throw the body. I just walked towards them and let it explode.
Solar system challenge would be easy, if as you said it goes to moms foot, but it goes to moms heart, i got bible on it which made it a lot easier. I also got flat file on my first try on the first floor from room clear reward, just do that and its easy. :D
Oh man I got so lucky with backasswards. I had like six hours of attempts and only one had beat the mega satan fight. But eventually I started with booster pack on one run and it spawned a Moon card which I used to just teleport out of the fight. I was so overjoyed lol.
I'm a Bob's Brain enjoyer, it does good damage and poisons, I think I do because I grew to get decent at the timing of it's launch and the stall, can be a free bomb as well It's Bob's head but not a meh spacebar item
So I know I'm mostly alone here, but I actually really like the Ultra Hard Challenge. I'm one of those weirdos that loves grinding out absurdly hard challenge runs in games and that is exactly what this is. It also allows some typically not so great items/trinkets like Isaacs Fork or Yuck heart, items that give direct health some actual usefulness. It also forces you to put all your skills and knowledge to the test and punishes mistakes heavily. The one major gripe I have with the challenge is that most curses are active every floor. Curse of the maze is just annoying and doesn't make the challenge any more difficult it just adds unecessary tedium and curse of the blind is really dumb and unecessary and takes an element of strategy away and I think it actively detracts from the fun of the challenge for me. Like if I could convince Ed to just remove the curses from the Challenge it would probably be my favorite challenge in the game.
Imo Scat Man is very easy, no struggle at all. I finished it first try, and not just the mom's foot but also the boss rush. Just a fun one, very nice ;)
I would agree with you on April's Fool if the boss wasn't Bloat on every floor. Having to fight Bloat with base damage is rough.

if anyone is still struggling with hot potato I got a few tips
1) active items that you can keep over your head (bob's head, the eraser, etc) will stop the countdown that makes the body explode until you stop holding the item, and when you do that the countdown will start from the top, meaning you can actually stop your ticking
2) since most (if not all) of the damage you deal comes from the explosion (that isnt really affected by your damage) you can leave behind items that only give damage over better options (like speed or hp)
3) urn of souls and purgatory are one of the best items to get, since you can use urn of souls with the body, thus preventing it to explode for free, and dealing a decent amount of damage, and with purgatory you can leave the body behind and just roam around the room releasing souls to their death
4) if you are confindent, dont throw the body until its close to explode and then throw it, doing so will make the body blow up mid-air and stop its trajectory, good for moving enemies or enemies placed in the middle of the room
5) devil deals are risky since most of them give damage and tears (both useless during the run) and take away you health, so avoid them and go for angel deals instead, since most of them give either hp or familiar, both that are really good in this run
6) hold onto any chaos card and use for the last phase of satan, since this one is the fastest one

Tip for Cat got your tongue:
Try to get Beth's faith trinket so you can actually shoot but don't rely on it too much
I like Bob's Brain because it's an item I take for my ego.
No.
Glad you posted this. I just started to get back into the game.
ay glad it could help :) have fun!
I did all the challenges as soon as i unlocked them
That's fair lmao I basically never did mine at first
@@AnotherMattPlayingIsaac haha lmao
I specifically waited finishing ultra hard before doing anything with samson, this is the correct way
thanks for the tierlist part 2, kept it on in the bg at work, made me want to play it when i get home U3U
Ay thanks for watchin :) glad my videos have that affect on people lmao
The Brains challenge was hell; I only beat it with a pseudo-infinite health combo with Mitre, Book of Revelations and Habit.
For darkness falls, it's not just having eve unlocked if you buy rebirth and then add on the dlcs, you have to kill blue baby for it to unlock
Also the only time I would recommend using suicide king is in either the chest or the dark room if you have an extra life to use. I did it once and it was worth
I attempted backasswards a few times before just holding R until I got Mercurius, made the run so much easier when you can just skip hard rooms.
Another 30 minute rank video? The chores can be done another day 😎
Heck the chores 😎
golden hearts are pretty good, the coins help out a ton sometimes.
Just a tiny note about the unlock requirements for Darkness Falls: You have to have Sacrificial Dagger unlocked for the starting build, which means beating the Chest as Eve. Not sure if this has always been the case, but as of Repentance the unlock requirements should be:
Darkness Falls: Defeat Mom's Heart 11 Times, Unlock Eve, AND Unlock Sacrificial Dagger (Defeat ??? as Eve)
Pre-Repentance, "Maggy Holds a Pill" game Maggy a Speed Up pill, not a random one
Bob's brain is goated.
Saves my run everytime
The only solution to backasswards challenge is to find gnawed leaf and sth to do damage for you when you are afk and prey that item that was taken from you wasn't that much important in later/previous stage that's how I beat this challenge (I rolled gnawed leaf and a familiar and left this comp for a night and when I woke up mega satan still wasn't beaten xD)
Having any lesser good/bad effects of pills are good because it lessens the probability of picking up health down/tears down
You can say the same for health up/tears up though! But tbh it really doesn't make thaaaat much of a difference in the long run
Finally, the video I’ve been waiting for
i remember when i had to do onan's streak i ended up getting annoyed and restarting the run over and over until i got rotten baby, thought about it, then just used that and later on the finger for all of my damage instead of shooting lol
honestly i would do the same if the game gave me that lmao
note: in challenges where you cant shoot, such as beans! or cat got your tongue, maw of the void helps A LOT
Bobs brain has crazy early damage, I always take it as a boss eliminator
Backasswards gives Lazarus the item Anemic for the start, and makes revived Lazarus bleed all the time.
I love using bobs brain because of a mod that makes it some guys german Shepard laying down, if i get a bobs brain my day immediately gets better
thanks for this video i was debading on what challenges to do before this!! :)
Ay glad I could help :)
Gnawed Leaf made Hot Potato a joke. Not sure why but I was invincible the whole time I walked as long as I didn't throw the body. I just walked towards them and let it explode.
Scat man it's ultra easy,as you can run into enemies, transform them into poo,and poo heals you!!
Yea I forgot to note that too! Makes it even easier lol
Solar system challenge would be easy, if as you said it goes to moms foot, but it goes to moms heart, i got bible on it which made it a lot easier. I also got flat file on my first try on the first floor from room clear reward, just do that and its easy. :D
Oh god the adrenaline rush after completing speed is godly
I have 97% in Isaac, and when I looked it up, i noticed i was still missing marbles. Such a specific unlock
I did the Beans! Challenge yesterday and I got brimstone continuum and tammies head.
Oh man I got so lucky with backasswards. I had like six hours of attempts and only one had beat the mega satan fight. But eventually I started with booster pack on one run and it spawned a Moon card which I used to just teleport out of the fight. I was so overjoyed lol.
watching you get amnesia on that XXXXXXXL floor… hurt
I adore your channel name I’ve never seen your content before
13(Beans) challenge is soo hard to me, but unlock is kinda cool.
you can do it :)
24:27 BRO HE DIDN'T GET THE FINGER 😭😭😭
11:32 the worst possible pill at the worst possible moment
Bob's brain can be useful thus fun, if your damage is super low, it gives you looooong range damage
I beat challenge 36 by weaponizing a floating sack whip-thing that becomes more dangerous with every pickup item I got.
I'm a Bob's Brain enjoyer, it does good damage and poisons, I think I do because I grew to get decent at the timing of it's launch and the stall, can be a free bomb as well
It's Bob's head but not a meh spacebar item
bob can keep his brain >:(
Stud finder make you have a higher chance of getting a crawl space with a rock
I admire the float value rating
ima be honest I'm dumb and idk what that means lmao but glad you like it
1.5 rating for example
number with point value is a float value at least in coding
I've just checked it and minus numers as -1.5 also does count
Pre buffs waka waka was a nightmare
Me who got the game yesterday and is hearing easy runs for things i have never seen yet 😅. I'll get there
Imo Scat Man is very easy, no struggle at all. I finished it first try, and not just the mom's foot but also the boss rush. Just a fun one, very nice ;)
I spend my time waiting till Saturday so I can watch Another Matt videos❤
❤
As of Repentance, to unlock challenge 4 you also have to beat ??? as Eve.
I got My Onan’s streak done first try due to a very lucky Mom’s knife! You can’t mis shots if they don’t collide :D
