I learned to do my own and I’m still learning daily. I just got tired of waiting on people and being at the will of the builder. I research watch creditable videos and go for what I know. I’m not the best but I’m getting there 😂😂
Ive been doing my own and friends installs for years. There's always something to learn! Being a good installer requires you basically be a mechanic, electrician, fabricator, customer service rep., to know it all is a life long process. When you start to really learn the science and the hardware of it all you really see how little you actually know!
I just got done chasing an intermittent single speaker crackling issue...after checking all the wiring, RCA's Voltages/ scope readings, etc, I was getting ready to either put the meter on the speaker terminal out and get a voltage and Oscope reading, or go buy another set and do a full swap, but something told me to go back to the basics....turns out, even though i checked the amp quick and everything looked right from a wiring perspective, i decide to go back and look again. The set screw for the + speaker wire had backed off slightly due to excessive vibration and even though it was extremely slight, it was enough to cause an intermittent contact issue. This issue told me that even tho I've been doing this since the mid 1990's, I don't know everything, and can still make duhs, always take pointers and get pro help when needed.
I’ve been doing my own installs for at least 10 years. Started out with just the basic. My current setup the only thing I didn’t install was my alternator because where it was located I just didn’t have the tools and space. It’s located at the bottom of the engine unlike the Tahoe where it’s at the top
I'd agree with the advice. Component speakers can be one of the most difficult parts of car audio to do correctly. Pulling wires through the rubber boots on the car door, can be very daunting if someone has never done it before. And that's just one element of many when it comes to seperates.
Good advice I can tie my shoes and build and complete system front to back but can’t set gains by ear. Definitely have to see someone else’s system before they touch my stuff
If you are mechanically inclined and understand how to do things correctly then yes, if not just pay the price. Remember good work is never cheap and cheap work is never good.
So i just swapped to my backup car and power wire goes straight to my alt to a fuse then cap and back to a battery and another cap next to a single jp13 but it does better than before and voltage stays up❤ all stock and no headlight dim 😮also added extra ground from engine to body
A lot of people just wanna hook everything up quick, just so they can go out and start bangin'. They don't realize all the things to consider for the safety and reliability of their equipment, vehicle, and themselves.
Hey jp I've been doing my own installs my whole life but I will admit I know the basics I don't tune my stuff myself I find buddies who know how to or I take it to a pro I agree with you sir those people who try to do something they are not ment to do should stop happy new year my friend and I can't wait for taxes cuz it's time to up grade my amps and subs have a good day
not everybody has a the money to pay for somebody else to do it for them, it would be nice if the people in the car audio community were to offer help, whuich I sometimes see, but more often than not, I see nothing but putting down telling people they are stupid, that their choices are garbage, nothing but judgmental hypocrites in this hobby,
@@trentonbriones2381 always try to help whenever possible, if not at least send them to somebody who's not gonna talk so much shit that they just give up, its not always the fault of the person and their install, sometimes it is the equipment that fails ,but they talk down to them and tell them that their stuff blew up because of shitty installs
People have invested a lot of their time and deserve to be compensated, I don’t know anyone who works for free. As far as trashing the next guy that’s BS, everyone starts somewhere
During the time of my trade school I helped a few people out from my school do a system had to stop them because they ran wires through the good ol fenders so it definitely just depends on skill but once you see someone do it 1-2 times u understand the idea of how to install safely the first time seems scary but u gotta understand parallel wiring and series when it comes to wiring your speakers definitely not for everyone but I believe anyone can do it if they put their mind to it there’s a kicker app that is good for speaker wiring if your not the best definitely do recommend a distortion detector/clip indicator
Some cars have factory amplifiers that have separate channels for each speaker. So, no crossovers. It can be confusing and daunting. With my store if I don't install it or another reputable company that I think is reputable I let them know warranty is 50ft or 50 seconds. Which ever comes first. 😅 Some of my customers are very knowledgeable and have what it takes, so in some instances their are exceptions to the rule. Besides. Run active if you can to get all the power you paid for from your amplifier if you can. DSP's are amazing these days.
im 17 and have been doing my own installs. i have blown a few components... and i have learned from all of those mistakes... underpowered, overpowered, blah blah But i have recently gotten very in-depth with my reasearch. Currently my setup in my 1996 f150 single cab is: Rockford fosgate punch 6 and punch 5x7's for my mids and "highs" stinger Mt1000.5(5 channel amp) My subs is the downfiring kicker 10" box(i wish i wouldve gotten the 12's) and i have a jp3 on the way, should be delivered tmr actually
Anyone can do a install. There is all types of installs. Anyone can but the beginners rush and just want to hear there system play. Take your time and and do it right. I've seen some amazing installs. Then I've seen some 3am installs with the wrong wires and done work or sounds worse then before. I use to work for a audio guy no names in Sacramento. Most people will know who it is. I will always be greatfull for the experience. All love.
Everyday, I make it my goal to always learn, research and study anything that I am passionate about. Automobiles and CarAudio industries are changing rapidly every week. The component system has instructions with it and UA-cam has 1000+ tutorials on it. Having the willpower to actually put in effort to learn is why that person failed to install those easy kits. It’s sad because of how many resources there are to learn from. After effort is given, then give it to a professional.
😅 Doing an alternator swap on a stock car, EZ. Doing one on an aftermarket TT installed car. Maybe having the pros do it might be easier. Had to drain the coolant, remove fans, remove pipes and hoses, unbolt unrelated parts. Will I have extra parts? 😮
If you got an old car it’s pretty easy. These new cars with so many computers and shit I’d take it to a professional but with that being said I’ve always done my own installs but they all been older cars these newer cars system sounds decent enough
If you're gonna build your own system, I would love to see you actually build your Tahoe . Not another builder or there idea . . Just my opinion. Still love ya jp stay safe
no you should be doing whatever the hell you want !!!!! I do my own install and tuning cause i build small and need a certain style and sound that other wont give me !!! i do not do my own fabrication though
you should open a warehouse in south-africa, that could make shipping to bordering countries in africa and more north a lot easier for you and a lot cheaper for us who want to purchase equipment but shipping and import taxes are too expensive for most people so we end up buying cheaper shittier equipment just to have bass in our cars
some people like me would love to get my hands on some deaf bonce 4515R's but it costs about 30k each(before shipping +taxes) in our local currency and its shit expensive considering that is 15k more than your average household income in south-africa
I absolutely do not have the skill. I’m an expert at my profession only. Unfortunately, over 40 years, I’ve had some bad installs and some excellent ones.
These informational videos you're creating make me concerned for the average education level and IQ of your customers. Keep up the hard work. Keep the earth shakin
I don't discourage someone who is mechanically inclined and has an understanding of how not to electrocute yourself. Also, I recommended an understanding of ohms law. What does bother me when someone is at fault for frying their equipment, then talking shit on the brand. Own up to it, learn from it, don't do it again...🤙

Well building my own my self you’ll learn a lot and trail and error all I’d say take your time don’t rush it and just try it for your self

Can confirm, getting the wires from the door to the upper dash is the worst part, gotta lube them wires up
