After listening to the T.V. Of this song I feel like this “original” version (is it technically the original?), with the music video, beautifully encapsulates both sides of this story. The wife and the mistress both end up in the same feelings not being able to have the man. It’s truly a masterpiece as a duet or a solo song.
Just realised that the kitchen floor Taylor is sat (not in the video, but in real life), is probably the same kitchen floor where she danced in the refrigerator light in all too well :(((
When you water your pool while laughing manically with a glass of alcohol in your hand, you know your husband is cheating on you with a red-haired girl. Beware, ladies, beware.
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE SUMMED UP THIS VIDEO TO: The evil Taylor from You Belong With Me video- Fearless Era "I am here on the kitchen floor"- Speak Now Era The song was written in the Red Era The Bad Blood walk- 1989 Era "Cause us Traitors never win..." "Three of us, honey, it's a side show."- Repitation Era. This just shows how genius Taylor is.
Satarupa Ginger Kolay well one was the “Three of us, honey it’s a side show” that you noticed. Also the video has a letter dating to 1965, 31 years before that, Bonnie and Clyde died, reverse 31 and you get 13. Also the ending of the video, Jennifer, the innocent wife ok whereas Taylor, the other woman is left completely broken, “Us traitors never win”. With all of this, I have a suspicion that Getaway Car will be the next MV from reputation.
This is the storyline as I understand it: Simply, he’s a married man that has a side chick who meets up with her every once in a while (you can tell from the way they were looking at each other in the front of the elevator & the way people looked at the sidechick (Taylor) when she got up to see him) Taylor, knows that he is married (from the way she looked at his wife when she left the room) but she still in a relationship with him anyway. On the other side, there’s a typical married house-wife, cooks dinner, buys groceries and brings a little cake to her husband office. She caught them (we didn’t know how many times she has, because she looked at the women in unsure way, but she knew it) The husband felt weird, and left his wife alone and go out with his sidechick, and spend the night with her, and also break up with her and the end (Taylor was crumbling up a piece of paper in the last scenes of her, it means that this man let her have some romantic feelings towards him) and the wife, while she is spending the night alone, reading his old love letters and looking at their pictures, realizing that she have to leave now, and left him alone. The ending symbolizes every man who cheats: being terribly alone at the end.

Taylor's voice really suits this song. Mostly because it reminds me of her old country/rock songs from her fearless/speak now/red albums which contain the old Taylor vibe. Not to delete her new style entirely, but I wish she would do more songs in this style/genre; it honestly fits her voice so well
+Prince Lotor whoa that's why it has such a pre-1989 feel to it. Wait, when you said that it was written for Red do you mean that this song was originally going to be part of the album?
+advosuperdad ahahah I know Taylor keeps saying that but I personally feel like old Taylor will always be part of her to some extent. This song is proof of that. It has shaped her music into the way it is now so it's hard to depart entirely from it
This song reminds me of my childhood. My dad constantly cheated on my mother. She got wise to him, she constantly gave him chances. But between the alcohol, the fights and the horrible abuse. She had enough and divorced him.

If this video didn't win an award, how? I didn't even really know about Sugarland before this and now I have it saved. It's like 1950's meets fashion and beauty and becomes a good movie. The blend of Sugarland's lead female (Idk who?) and Taylor's voice is great. This song is really good. What art. 💫
Not enough people are talking about the fact that Brandon Routh (Superman from Superman Returns, Pay Parker/The Atom in Legends of Tomorrow) is the dude in this video
Even though she's obviously wrong for what she's doing, I like that the video shows the other woman's frustration and pain too. Both women are in pain because they can't have what they want - all of him.
Agree. Also, at the beginning of the song Sugarland sings “you said no one else” but at the end Taylor sings “you said I’m no one else” as explaining the suffering of both women.

@@hsidd it’s actually from last great american dynasty haha
That moment when you see Taylor feature a song for the first time in years.
Vicstone GR1 end game?
Edit: Nvm she was the main
nope she also feature on kelly pickler The best day of your life. go search it
Ivan scott Remegio jr that song is from like 10 years ago
The last time I I remember her being featured in a song was "I Don't Want to Live Forever," by Zayn.
After listening to the T.V. Of this song I feel like this “original” version (is it technically the original?), with the music video, beautifully encapsulates both sides of this story. The wife and the mistress both end up in the same feelings not being able to have the man. It’s truly a masterpiece as a duet or a solo song.
Just realised that the kitchen floor Taylor is sat (not in the video, but in real life), is probably the same kitchen floor where she danced in the refrigerator light in all too well :(((
Well thanks I'm sad now
Thanks, now you made the song hit me deeper
Not necessarily. Those two things are probably completely unrelated. I think you need to calm down.
Celestial Venus I see what you did there ;)
I dont get it please explain me
Now THIS is a music video with a story line that follows the lyrics and everything
LOVE IT
just wish there was more :(
zoeytheawesome Yeah I see many music videos nowadays have nothing to do with the song
Taylor swift is the best...she knows what kind of story she wants to perform in music video
I love how they even incorporated Taylor's verse to make it make more sense
When you water your pool while laughing manically with a glass of alcohol in your hand, you know your husband is cheating on you with a red-haired girl. Beware, ladies, beware.
I'll keep that in mind 😂
Pinning it down thnx
In an evening gown
LMAO THANKS HAHA
thank goodness we don't have a pool LOL
Redhead Taylor is honestly a need
Fr and in all to well😊
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE SUMMED UP THIS VIDEO TO:
The evil Taylor from You Belong With Me video- Fearless Era
"I am here on the kitchen floor"- Speak Now Era
The song was written in the Red Era
The Bad Blood walk- 1989 Era
"Cause us Traitors never win..."
"Three of us, honey, it's a side show."- Repitation Era.
This just shows how genius Taylor is.
Satarupa Ginger Kolay There have been multiple Getaway Car references in this video. I think it might be the next video from reputation.
The Simon K Show Multiple? I didn't notice them? How?
Satarupa Ginger Kolay wow
Satarupa Ginger Kolay well one was the “Three of us, honey it’s a side show” that you noticed. Also the video has a letter dating to 1965, 31 years before that, Bonnie and Clyde died, reverse 31 and you get 13. Also the ending of the video, Jennifer, the innocent wife ok whereas Taylor, the other woman is left completely broken, “Us traitors never win”. With all of this, I have a suspicion that Getaway Car will be the next MV from reputation.
The Simon K Show wow. Nice observation! Very intricate details which you noticed. Nice.
I suddenly remembered blank space tho
Ozan SAME
Yup same
Me tooo omg
Ozan me too
same omg
I mean this was all very obvious but thanks for the breakdown
Thank you for this! 😊
No shit Sherlock
I think the guy got taylor pregnant if you look at her while waring the black dress before he left, her tummy has a little bump.
Thanks I really didn't understand the last part 😇
I love the way the shift to Taylor tells the story of him continuing to do this to every girl he's with
I loved how in the end her lyrics became Taylor's lyrics.
Same! It's got a really nice story to it overall.
@@emma-di5ly Exactly
This song was written by Taylor Swift for her album "Red".
@@AbhiThePenguin well Red was her best work so far
I beg to differ. 1989 is an iconic album and, Reputation!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!
Nobody:
Taylor: *puts on a wig and becomes a villain*
not a villain. She's just like Augustine in this video
That's not a wig😂
please tell me how this stare doesn't look villainous 2:47
the two versions are litterally perfect in their own ways
taylor's version is a sad girls
sugarland's is a mad woman
0:20 reminds me of Blank Space!
CheesecakeLasagna Same lol
Omg 😱😱
It's like Blank Space meets Wildest Dreams meets You Belong with me.
Satarupa Ginger Kolay You are right...
IKR!
Taylor keep singing 'This is the last time' because she wants to end the things too but she started having feelings. Aw my poor bad Taylor
this was also her final song released before leaving big machine
@@lu-th2nq Are Sugarland still with Big Machine, I hope not
👏👏👏👏
also the last time is a song from red
And now, she’s gonna be singing all of it on the song on red tv
NOT YOU coming back here after realizing the word “babe” is in the cryptic crossword taylor posted 🥰
Why you calling me out like dat? 😭😭
Can't wait😭😭
Hiiiiiii :)
Can't wait😅😢😭
woah same😅
Jennifer and Taylor’s voices complement each other so well.
the similarities between this vid and i'm not the only one mv and the fact that dianna agron was in the i'm not the only one mv and babe being a red reject keeps me at night
Am I the only one who appreciates the faces that the other secretaries made?
Me too i do appreciates
Jessica Robinson me too
They are hilarious
I found it funny
They all knew what was going on
Aubree Sudlow exactly! And the one is all “ohhh snap”
i love both versions. they're the same song but very different at the same time wow
2:34 i slobbered on myself...omg she is so incredibly beautiful and lovely
Taylor ❤️
I'm in love with Jennifer's voice
Fabio Panda and the front vocals too
i agree. Jennifer has one of the best voices in the music industry, in my opinion
Fall until me by sugar land
Been waiting for this video since the song came out, the video was awesome and the red hair really look good on Taylor.
Asmita Jain same here
she looks on bad blood music video
Asmita Jain me too. I was so waiting for the music video. I love sugar land and taylor swift. She looks awesome with red hair taylor swift .
Fr gf I told my girls she has to make a mv.
They play it for me on their own cause they like it too!!
I had fall in love with this song before this . While watching this i fall in love with the song even more .
I'm a Swiftie but I always come back to this version ❤
more emotional
this is like hardcore old school taylor swift
sydney mccaw Taylor wrote this during the “Red Era”
“We’re a wreck, you’re the wrecking ball”
Nice and catchy!
WHY DOES THIS FEEL LIKE "IM NOT THE ONLY ONE" MV BY SAM SMITHHH????!!!
Because it contains like nearly all the same shots, storyline, premise, sequence... need I go on? 😂😂😂
That exactly what I was thinking. Came in the comment section to see if anyone else noticed
Totally! !!
I was thinking the exact same thing!!
Thiissss
this song throws so much reference to folklore:
Sugarland is Betty. See 0:34 "High heels on cobble stones.."
Taylor is the August girl. See 3:45 "August slipped away.." the letters dated to August.
And this song also resonates with 'madwoman' from Sugarland's pov and 'illcit affairs' from Taylor's pov.
I love how the video shows that no one wins in a situation like this
Taylor's voice really suits this song. Mostly because it reminds me of her old country/rock songs from her fearless/speak now/red albums which contain the old Taylor vibe. Not to delete her new style entirely, but I wish she would do more songs in this style/genre; it honestly fits her voice so well
Carissa Tzeng this song was written for Red so makes sense that it sounds so country.
Sorry the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now... oh cause she’s Dead!
It has shaped her music into the way it is now so it's hard to depart entirely from it
Carissa Tzeng good thing she still sings most of her songs on the Rep Tour.
never knew this was Taylor’s song (she wrote it) but it makes a lot of sense
Me too. I just knew it recently and its gonna be on red tv
This song reminds me of my childhood. My dad constantly cheated on my mother. She got wise to him, she constantly gave him chances. But between the alcohol, the fights and the horrible abuse. She had enough and divorced him.
Who's revisiting this version after hearing Taylor's Version?
Me. I was waiting for her version but I was kinda disappointed. :/ I prefer this version as it has more emotions and stronger vibe.
@@michaelcaling I do too. Idk why I prefer this one. But I do. I’m not really a country music fan( I didn’t truly discover Taylor until “I knew you were trouble” then 1989 album
@@michaelcaling maybe that’s why she gave it to them first cuz she thought they could do it better..?
Me
I'd never heard of either. I saw the song on a compilation somewhere, and this is my first stop because they're both in the video
This reminds me of all Taylor’s old music videos! Loved it!❤️
She needs to make more vids like this tbhhh
Me too. I miss the old Taylor’s music
Yes it’s written by Taylor but this should be about how great sugarland is and how amazing Jennifer is in this video.
Yes but this time she's not the victim anymore.
Taylor wrote this back in the RED era
This MV is so freakin good. Goosebumps. So underrated ugh. The message is so heartbreaking and an eye-opener
Yap
Thankyou youtube for recommending it to me after 3 years😌
"A master of spin has a couple side flings, good wives always know. She should be mad, should be scathing like me but no one likes a mad woman..."
This song is the Easter egg for folklore album
I love how nobody is talking about the guy being from Arrow/Flash/DC Legends of Tomorrow. He's Ray Palmer/The Atom!!!
And Superman/Clark Kent!
That's why he looks familiar!
Brandon Routh - also played a super spy in "Chuck". Very under-rated.
And he was on Scott Pilgrim.
Ikr I love him in Legends of tomorrow
Come here for Taylor but end up loving these two women 😍
I can’t get over how absolutely stunning Taylor is in this ❤

What a shame
Didn't wanna be the one that got away, yeah
Big mistake, broke the sweetest promise
That you never should have made

Taking down the pictures and the plans we made, yeah
And it's strange how your face doesn't look so innocent
Your secret has it's consequence and that's on you, babe
I break down every time you call
We're a wreck, you're the wrecking ball
We said no one else, how could you do this, babe?
You really blew this, babe
We ain't getting through this one, babe
This is the last time I'll ever call you, babe
This is the last time, this is the last time

Since you admitted it, I keep picturing
Her lips on your neck, I can't unsee it
I hate that because of you, I can't love you

How could you do this, babe?

If this video didn't win an award, how? I didn't even really know about Sugarland before this and now I have it saved. It's like 1950's meets fashion and beauty and becomes a good movie.
The blend of Sugarland's lead female (Idk who?) and Taylor's voice is great. This song is really good. What art. 💫
That f***ed up hard-front wig Taylor wore in the video ruined any chance of an award.
Her name is Jennifer Nettles and sugarland has won alot of awards and has tons of hits..
@@dropit69 I like their sound... Her voice...
Go listen to "Stay" right now!!❤❤❤
All the Taylor Swift fans in the comments, and I'm part of the 1% just appreciating the fact that Brandon Routh is in this video 😂❤️

It turns out that Taylor isn't a singer only ,at the same time, she's a tremendous actress too, who fits in every character

I know, that's the first thing I noticed when I first watched this mv
I like that the bridge and chorus are also the point of view of the 3rd party at the end.
Even though she's obviously wrong for what she's doing, I like that the video shows the other woman's frustration and pain too. Both women are in pain because they can't have what they want - all of him.
Taylor can have all of me tho, ALL. OF. ME.
@@Swiftix13 she isn't interesated at the moment. And she can't come to the phone right now :v
Agree. Also, at the beginning of the song Sugarland sings “you said no one else” but at the end Taylor sings “you said I’m no one else” as explaining the suffering of both women.
Sugarland is good at that. Like in the song Stay.
