Hey Jeff, I just wanted to say how much your video helped me solving the same issue with my 2007 eclipse GT. I visited several so called "specialized in door locks" places and they all told me the same: "they have no repair, you have to buy the new lock" after viewing your video, I commented the last "professional" that maybe we could just change the motor and he told me that it wouldn't do it, and that even if I did it, I couldn't make it work. haha so I bought a pair of new motors online and did it myself. without your guidance, I would of have a lot of struggle, you made things really easy for me and I highly appreciate it. I'd love to shake your hand firmly and have a beer with you but well, I live in Mexico. Thanks again for taking the time and effort sharing your knowledge :)
This was super helpful! Especially since the driver side lock actuator assembly is now discontinued. Weird that they discontinue the driver side, but not the passenger side, but regardless your video helped a ton! Thank you!
After replacing the motor the cover didn't completely seat. The side without the screw didn't want to stay down. The door locks would work but the contacts that touch the top of the cover weren't engaging so my eclipse still thought the door was locked, causing the alarm to go off when I opened the door. I took the actuator back out and glued the top down. It fixed the issue with my alarm. Thanks for the great video!
@@nallelyalvarado6492 Once you have removed the door lock actuator on the driver's side as he shows in the video you will have to take out a single screw and pry off the cover where the motor is housed. If you look at the inside of the cover it has 2 contact points that touch the metal pieces connected to one if the half gears. In the video he mentions carbon build up on it. On mine when I replaced the motor and reinstalled the cover it wouldn't remain fully closed causing those points not to contact the top of the cover. I used glue and a clamp to ensure it was fully closed and this fixed my issue.
Thanks for making this video. I need to figure out what's wrong with my door handle and this will be super helpful! Too bad those metal pulls aren't available anymore.
My top works sometimes and my door locks sometimes don't work With key remote Im about to replace those actuators to see if that'll fix the door esues and top as well !!
Hi, the small window (i don't even know what is it called sorry) is loose and not moving up nor down, i have to put it something not to go down, is there a way to fix it???
This is the motor I got and it worked but there were other sensors in the door actuator that were still causing problems, so I was forced to purchase a new actuator for the driver and passenger side. Poor design in my opinion. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CDIFLAK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm a mechanic. Time is money. I just removed the rear screws on the window plate and pulled it out / bent it enough to get my hand in. You'll see a rubber grommet / plug on the painted surface above the lock that allows you access to pop the rods off. Push the crease in the window plate back...its easily bendable and draw it in with the screws. This way you do not disturb the window.
Did you resolve the issue with the window not short stroking back up? Mine did the same thing...I have tried to relearn the windows but no luck. It just won't bump back up when door is closed...great video BTW
Hi Jeff I'm liking your video on removing the stuff. Thank you for the video as well. Now idk if it's the part your talking about. So my question is " are you changing that part because of the door handle it's self is just flapping and wont latch to the car ?
I locked the keys in my 2012 eclipse and slim jim it open and now my outside driver handle wont open door.. What could it be? Cant open from outside so i have to leave window cracked.. Cant find a forum video notta on it.. Please Help
Where did you order those metal interior door handles? Thats seems to be a huge game changer (stability-wise). My lady and I have 2 of these bebes 2007 and 2008 spyder gts and I totally agree about those plastic handles being inadequate. If you could just direct me to the site to find em please. My girlfriend drives one of em and she tears the handles up within weeks/months repeatedly, lol Thanks man!
I broke the small plastic tab arm, on the door lock actuator... Then I released I didn't need it. The door opens just fine with the hook arm, just press fit into the hole.
Jeff, thanks for the video. I was able to replace both actuator assemblies in both of my doors with the help of your video. Many thanks! As a summary for others who may be doing this. 1) Roll down the window completely. 2) Disconnect the negative terminal from your battery. 3) Follow instructions for removal of the bolts, but don't remove anything marked with paint. Just to add, on my 2007 Eclipse the drivers and passenger doors are slightly different, in terms of bolts, and the fact that the entire window comes off on the passenger side. Took me 2 hours per door working slowly, always check and double check. Do not remove the window 'gears/driver' as shown in the video, as this is not needed. Just pop off the interior door, remove the bolts, and remove metal door. These are the entire lock assembly which is much easier to install, from www.mitsubishipartswarehouse.com/ Part No: 5715A258 and 5715A257, rather than just the motor, one big less step.
As a eclipse driver with a bad door I appreciate this

Great tutorial. Q: my marker lights no longer flash with keyfob use after changing the actuators. Any ideas?
Did you get it figured out yet? There’s a pattern involving holding remote buttons down for a certain amount of seconds I’d have to look it up again

eBay. Or Club 4G.
AutoCity Imports has quite a few aftermarket options for the 4g eclipse
