I love that trail but man does it wear me out. I will take more water the next time I ride it. When I got to Stumptown Ales I was so dry I could barely say porter!
Have you by chance been on this run, into Promise Land recently? I'm in the area with my family and am planning on sneaking out for a bigger ride tomorrow morning to include Allegheny to the Promise Land loop, etc. Then back up Allegheny to Canaan Loop Rd and back to Black Bear Resort 🚵♀️ 😃
I rode the trail last week. The Allegheny trail up to Canaan Loop Road is in good shape. Had a few muddy spots on the Promised Land trail. That Canaan Valley mud is really hard to clean off the bike. sounds like it should be a great ride. have fun!
@@an_over-the-hill_mountainbiker excellent, thanks so much for getting back to me! I spent almost 2 hours getting mud out of places I haven't had mud before after riding the Davis Trail to Plantation, all the way out to Table Rocks...suffice it to say, I will likely avoid those two trails and try to stay on the more east facing sides of the Canaan Mountain and the Beaver Creek/Moon Rocks/Hellbender stuff!
Hi. What is the best route to do in the Canaan mountain area that is an adventure ride. I saw the route rattlesnake on mtb project that looks fun but would like to hear your opinion thanks
Thanks for the comment. How much time and distance are you looking for on a route? I've been thinking about different routes and looking for good maps that might help you. Also, my friend Pat Hanlin, UA-cam channel Paddy OOHH @paddyoohh3882, might be able to give you a fun adventure route in the Canaan Mountain area. He's done a lot more biking in Tucker County, WV than I have.
I started at the parking area on the WV DNR Road (main road through the Canaan Valley State Park) just below the Canaan Valley Resort Hotel. The shortest route to Allegheny trail would be to start on Promised Land trail from there and go counterclockwise to Allegheny trail but I like taking Middle Ridge trail and connecting to Promised Land trail going the opposite direction. Promised land will take you to a sign pointing to Allegheny trail either way. Another way to get to Allegheny trail would be to go to Canaan Heights and drive out the road to where Allegheny Trail starts at Canaan Loop Road. There is a parking area there next to the trail sign. I know this might be a little confusing, but I could send you maps if you e-mail me at highlandrider@hotmail.com.
Missing some home roads today- thanks for the glimpse in!
Hope you get a chance to ride in Canaan soon.
🚲🎥👍👍👍👍

Nice video!! Video never does justice to how steep trails are. I want to be like you when I grow up.

@@an_over-the-hill_mountainbiker thanks, I’m trying to do something that’s between 35-50 miles just not sure exactly what’s out there
Nice Video!!! Where did you start and which way did you go in Allegheny trail? I'm going there in May and this route looks like a lot of fun.
