Your videos are so much fun to watch. Obviously I’m here for the fishing, but Mike’s house tours, Santa skinny dipping or losing a boot, and Coach saying he’s selling all his stuff and quitting at like 75% of the tournaments is what makes your tournament videos so entertaining. I’ve watched your channel religiously for so long I feel like I know the whole crew and I love every minute of it. Keep up the great work and keep making great memories with your dudes!

It's always a pleasure watching The Wild Bunch fishing these tournaments. It really is a pleasure seeing that there's a lot more to fishing tournaments then winning I'd like to make one suggestion though on you losing a lot of fish I would pay a lot closer attention to the gauge wire of hook that you're using. I would go to a medium gauge or light gauge wire hook especially the vmc Finesse Style hooks really penetrate to fish a lot quicker than your medium or heavy gauge wire hooks I think that's what the problem is. I went through that issue a lot of years ago. The other thing is I never had any confidence in those little dropshot hooks, Martens never really used them either.

LOL Greg - I managed to get my husband to follow suit - he's now dropping F bombs along with me when a fish comes off. Guess I turned him to the Dark Side 😉
Kudos to Santa for tying for AOY - very exciting!
You had your share of problems, but we were happy to see that you made it to No. 5. Mike is an absolute hoot as the cabin guide. My husband actually rode the Pony Express route in Nevada on horseback and drinking that nasty cowboy coffee you had. I'm telling you, so you won't feel alone 😂

You know, I laughed through so many parts of that video because if you tournament fish, you’ve been there. Nothing goes right. You tangle the line with anything capable of tangling, you loose fish, you go through a stint when all you catch is embryos, you fret., you complain and whine, you talk to yourself AND answer your own rhetorical questions. And then….you spin out. Been there. The demons win.
You didn’t. Good for you Greg. Great video. Every fish you lost I felt the pain.
Good luck guys rest of this year. Quite the crew.

I think getting those (big)fish comes down to having the least amount of things that could go wrong with your set up, for me I don't like to run braid on my spinning set ups. The leader knot can knock fish off even if you use a really slim knot and I also feel that braid is less forgiving and the stretch with fluro/mono helps keep those fish pinned better. Just my suggestion on how to keep more fish from popping off and, I understand that some people have better luck the other way but this change has really helped me in my fishing.
Also love the vids keep it up 👍!!

Hey Gregg. I really hope that you read this. Ive written the same thing in the past. Ive been a really long time sub and have watched you fish alot. I really respect you and enjoy the content.
Anyhow Gregg im still picking on your drag. As soon as you get a fish that even comes close to being scoreable you start fiddling with youur drag. When your backing it off so much no matter how much the rods bent the fish are now handling you instead of you handling it. Also i know for sure on 4 fish you lost when you bent forward to net the fish your rod went down at the same time instead of up and back. Please forgive me for being critical of your fishing but im just trying to let you know what ive noticed. Much respect and will be looking forward to the next video.

Hey Greg I think it might help to try one of the non-ultra realistic gilly colors. Those super realistic colors are like printed on top of the plastic and I think it makes them harder then the "normal" colors so you might get a better hookset with those otherwise maybe try an Geecrack bellows gill which has the same profile but is much softer.

I think one thing that will help you not lose fish is to set the drag once to 80% of the breaking strength of the weakest link in your line and just leave it be. You’re adding too many variables mid fight and between fights. You’re losing the connection in your head between how much tension there will be at any given moment meaning inconsistencies. Hope that helps

Maybe try new drop shot hooks, there is a famous drop shot hook that sucks bad and the company sells them as drop shot the bite gap sucks on them. I like the Owner Masquito lite hooks great bite gap. And for thick T-rig drop shot I go with a cover shot hook also great bite gap. Hooks are everything in drop shot in my opinion next is reel, rod, line.

What if you upsized your drop shot hook one or maybe two sizes just to give you a little bit more margin of error if the line goes slack for a second I’ve got some pretty small fish on some pretty big hooks so I don’t think it would affect anything but landing ratio

Have you considered using a stiffer rod for your drop shot combo? Just looking at it from the video, it seems that your hook set is a bit too soft and your hooks are not actually penetrating the fishes mouth as it should. That said, this video is highly entertaining and informative. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
