I love how self-deprecating she is. She doesn't take herself so seriously and seems like a genuinely happy person. No wonder so many people on the left hate her.
people keep on harping here and there about her speaking too fast. I don't care. I don't notice. She has a high voltage mind. She is too intelligent for the world.
Fabio Mariotti ... AMEN! I have no problem following her. She thinks and speaks in swift, linear jolts of electricity. I don’t agree with every jot and tittle of her expressed thinking, but I agree with much of it, and those who can’t “follow” her mode of communication need to update their lagging mental modems. 😁
True that! Her mind works like a gatling gun, spewing electrifying ideas after another. Her style is invigorating. People with slowpoke minds are those who can't keep up!
As much as I adore Paglia, I disagree with her vehemently about gay male pornography - she speaks about it as if it's some kind of yardstick. Of course women aren't being exploited by it but it's extremely degrading to very young men in particular. I've had friends try to get me into it and some of it is just horrible - you'll see these very young men, made up to look as young as possible, appearing bewildered and often very uncomfortable. Often they're not even being paid. I speak from personal experience - not too long ago an old guy got me very stoned and then filmed me and later uploaded the video to a porn site. He made money off it. I wasn't paid a dime. I accept it was to some extent my own fault but it was extremely degrading, humiliating and yes, exploitative.
One one Camilles big points is about standing up for yourself and owning your own choices. I'm sorry that stuff happened but ypu probably learnt more about human nature from that experience than a decade of anthropology and psychology courses.
I've gathered together a collection of her speeches and interviews on my UA-cam channel library. It's called "Great Women: The Incomparable Camille Paglia." I think she's definitely at her sexiest and most witty in the debate called "Women are Better". :)
My favourite female intellectual by far. She's a vibrant woman, physically and intellectually. Passionate, soulful and logical -- a magnificent creature. I refer to her as "Storm a Clear Day". She was right on the money: 24 years ago, predicting the female's dissatisfaction with the new "Feminist masculinity" following the castration of real men. Her caution that the destabilization and decline we see in Western Civilization is following the same trend as has happened, throught human history, at the time of the demise of many other Great Civilizations, is very important. This period, immediately preceding its collapse, is characterized by society's progressive blurring of gender lines (etc) at the height of a period of openness and liberal "sophistication". We must hear this warning. Love her!
@@joygallavan6790 she ain't disgusting you do know once upon a time people doesn't have any problem with a child doing adult things hell kids ages 14-15 went to wars and now people get all triggered by something which are totally normal...There is no rule when people can have sex it's totally man made
@@joygallavan6790 Where, when? Give a citation. I have never heard her advocate for legalized pedophilia in our contemporary society and world. And what's the definition of pedophilia that you're ascribing to her?
I don't agree with some of the agenda she is proposing, such as pornography and homosexuality etc, but I can definitely say that I agree with the rest of everything she promotes.
Her point of view on shifting the responsibility to women instead of playing victim for whatever happens to us is so interesting. Tough but illuminating, and I think she is right. Of course there are maniacs out there, but in general you know what you are getting yourself into with a man. She's like the Jordan Peterson of female sexuality.
Camille implies that male homosexuality is not manly after saying straight men need mother figures in their homes. If manly is about being a bread-winning machine for someone else, I don't want to be manly.
@halacris That's how manliness is won, you must sacrifice your liberty. Effeminacy doesn't give you honor or status but you are unshackled in a way. You cannot have liberty and manliness at the same time.
Now, is there any true, authentic intellectual nowadays who will admit they are an egomaniac??😅😅 Dear Camille we forgive your egomania! U're amazing!!!😍
It's interesting what she says about the "rainbow curriculum" and homophobia. But then how should we handle homophobia at schools. As a high school teacher and a gay man I need to know how to handle some kind of situations. I see other teachers Collings students homophobes and sexist which I think is a terrible way to do handle the situation since you put them on the defensive. I try to have a dialog with them, I don't judge them, just tell them how I see things and how I think what they are doing may be problematic. I don't tell them they have to change their opinions, I just tell them to consider other points of view and to avoid using some kinds of language as insults. I try to convince them with arguments, not imposing it. I think they respect me much more than the other teachers for that, but I'm not sure of the results of it in the long run.
I love her, though I don't entirely agree with her on the comparisons she made of being black and homosexual. When you are black, you have your family, provably your neighborhood on your side. When you are gay, sometimes you have no one on your side (obiously things have changed a lot). Black people have faced struggles gay people haven't but the other way round is also true.
While I don't agree with her on political things, I love the respect and recognition she has for men and how she tells women we need to be stronger and own our decisions and choices.
He was trying to groom her. The little suggestions throughout the conversation, 'if you and I were...', 'what would it be like if we...' classic grooming behaviour.
