Im playing uke for 3 months now, i have to say that G was so hard for me but i played for minimum 10 min everyday. I tried to remember the chords without looking and i think thats how i learned to swich faster.. For all beginners, dont worry you will learn just dont stop! Eden Im proud of you!
I started learning ukulele in november, i struggled with the G chord and horrific E chord. But i now can just sit in my room, bring up some ramdom lyrics on google amd sing the song however i like. It's VERY rewarding when you get the hang of it, just keep persevering 😊
Great job Eden! I’ve been playing for 9 months now. I just discovered that when transitioning from A to G that using my index finger to play the A chord instead of my middle finger makes the transition much easier for some reason. Of course that may not always be feasible, but for songs like Riptide it’s working great for me! Happy strumming!!
I can relate to having a hard time switching chords! Just got my Uke a month ago. I stumbled on this tip though that's been working for me. Before you strum the next note, let your fingers "shadow" or already start to form the shape of the next chord. I hope that makes sense!
I just got a ukulele for Christmas , and I love it !!! I am learning so quickly it's insaneee . Don't give up , keep practicing and you'll be progressing so quickly in what seems like no time . You are hilarious and your personality is golden so do keep that in your videos por favor lol . You do have a very beautiful voice by the way . I cannot wait to hear you play and sing an entire song all the way through . I bet it will be gorgeous ! I have been learning from Elise as well . You two are just marvelous lol .
This is so helpful!!! I'm at roughly 2 month and feel like I should be so much further along, but i'm pretty much where you are so this is encouraging!!!
I remember when i first got my ukulele in the summer i could neither strum, transition, or sing while playing. After various youtube vids and reading the instructions booklet i got i decided to take it in slowly instead of trying to take it all in so quickly and then disappointing myself with the lack of progress i saw. So I focused on getting a strumming pattern down and then i focused on transitioning from A to F to C and G. After i just looked up various songs i was familiar with and the rest is history! I can now pick up songs quickly and i can strum really fast when i want to =^w^= But yeah 😅 it does take HELLA time and practice. I STILL STRUGGLE WITH THE E CHORD THO 😭 (btw i really love your personality! This is the 1st video i watched from you and i subscribed immediately after i finished❤ Keep up the great work!)
I‘ve been playing for 1 1/2 years now (granted, with months long breaks inbetween) and I‘m probably at the same level as you if not worse. I think you‘re doing great!
Don't worry hun,I'm having the same problems ,you are definitely doing better on strumming than me. And for only really practice a little bit its not bad. Im practicing all the time and still having a hard time
Ur so improving im proud, I've also experienced the struggle youre in now, but so far im also improving so you can do it cuz im also a beginner i started playing a uke since Dec 7;-) also happy new year😄
I love your personality 😂♥️ This is the first video of yours that I've watched, I subbed! I got my uke a few weeks ago and I'm about where you are 🤷🏽♀️ I can't strum and sing
i take guitar and i rarely actually practise 😂 i play my uke too much and get distracted. Glad to see how far you've come. Tell Elise when she comes back she needs to leave me a ukulele too😂😂
my friend and i were doing ukulele in our talent show at the end of the school year. i had been playing since the beginning of the school year and was only playing for a few days and see learned g, c, d, and could easily transition and do a strumming pattern. I was proud. ❤️❤️
Every little progress counts! Great job on continuing to practice! I try to practice "everyday" when I can :) What's important is that you are having fun :) Keep it up!
I've had mine for almost 2 months and I know a ton of chords, got the strumming pattern, etc. But that's probably 'cause I've dabbled in the stringed instruments before. Lol I love this vid, it's really cute and it reminded me of when I started bass and guitar. I have problems w/ the strumming too tho, I've got that basic DDU-UDU but I'm having problems learning other strumming patterns. I start off good and then.... I go back to the one pattern. XD One thing ya gotta make sure to do is strum all the strings when playing. It's easy to get caught up in playing only a couple of strings. You're doing awesome tho!!! Best of luck to you!! :D 👍
You're hilarious. And btw I am an ukulele begginner too. Its been 2 weeks since I bought one and started playing. Also, the transitioning thing is so relatable. Goodluck with your ukulele journal. I'm definitely subscribing. 💞💞
Very entertaining! It takes a lot to get a chuckle out of me but you did; with your hilarious antics...thanks. When I just couldn’t do something; like unscrewing a bolt etc. , my brother would sometimes tell me: “you ain’t holding your mouth right” Keep it up!
With castle on a hill if you want to make it sound cooler/better with the down strum rather than the strumming pattern, do a mute after each down strum, hopefully you continue to improve and enjoy ukulele I know after playing for 3 years that it is time consuming but the best thing is you can always improve. X
Elise, I really like Your personality is precious and you give us a truly natural feeling as to what we all feel !. Don't ever stop. Once you get to enjoy playing you tend to pick up the instrument more and practice. I find playing the guitar a stress reliever. Enjoy your time with it have a cup of tea or coffee when you want to relax and practice. Do you have any more videos of your progression of playing the uke?
Thank you!! I was feeling really bad because I started learnign ukulele by myself and I can't sing along yet. Seeing that I'm not the only one make me keep motivated
I loved the funny face you made after your 2nd successful A to G chord transition. (3:19) I found you through Elise's channel. She's great & you guys are hilarious together! 😹 Thank you for making me laugh today. Have a nice afternoon. Byeee
ugh I totally understand the transitioning issues. I've been taking professional lessons since this summer and going from Am or F to G is still a struggle xd
Great video and practice points. That is amazing progress. When playing and singing at the same time errors are compound. Makes it more challenging and fun but can lead to bad habits. Nice singing.
When I started the ukulele the transitioning was also difficult for me. What I learned that will help a bit. Is when you go from one chord to another slowly. So an Am and slowly going to a G. Then slowly transitioning faster as I get better. And also trying to memorize how your fingers move to an A to a G or another chord
I love this! I just got myself a cheap ukelele (maybe a week ago) and I can actually play a variety of songs at half tempo (Science Fiction/Double Feature - Rocky Horror Picture Show, I'm Yours - Jason Mraz, I Can't Help Falling in Love - Elvis Presley, Let It Be - The Beatles, and parts of Somewhere Over the Rainbow). I usually practice for about 30 minutes to an hour and a half each day but I have a heavy musical background, I've played violin, piano, and flute collectively for about 15+ years. For other beginners what has helped me is strumming with a metronome app as well as the app Yousician, it's free and has quick 10 minute sessions. Other that that I just practice random chords. Let me know if y'all have any questions and good job Eden!
You prolly won’t see this but I’m thinking of starting playing an instrument and the ukulele seems Like such a happy instrument and seeing the progress you have went through gives me hope that I can learn
Lol, you're fantastic I'm a begginer too and I have the same prob, specially with A to the G chord, like "WhY CaN'T iT jUsT WoRk?!?!?!" So yeah. Good luck, pal!
I have a suggestion!! So for chords, you have to try to memorize the way to put your fingers for chords. Also I play lefty with a right handed, so it’s backwards. I’m weird. I’ve been playing ukulele for almost 2 years now. I started at 11.😂😂
Everyday I practiced for 3-4 hours and on the 6th day I can strum Riptide's strumming pattern and sing at the same time! Don't give up get, you can do it!
Omg yay finally uploaded a video You are so great I love you and your videos And jelly bean too 😍😍 I think I started to love this channel more than elise's ahhm
Ed Sheeran's Castle On The Hill, Twenty Øne Piløts Migraine and Grace VanderWaal's I Don't Know My Name have the exact same chords in the same order. (Migraine chords are the same in the rap part which is mostly the whole song).
Great job!! I've been playing ukulele for about two weeks, however I've played guitar for two years so it comes pretty easily to me. However, when I first started guitar I had the same issue as you that my transitioning between chords (especially on the 6 guitar strings) was very difficult. My teacher recommended an exercise for it that would probably help you. Basically, you look at each finger one by one, and figure out where each needs to go, (pointer down a string, ring up two, etc) Then, without pressing down since that can tire your fingers out very quickly, practice just moving from one chord to another (start with just alternating between two) moving one finger at a time. After a while, try doing it moving all of your fingers together, and if you notice that one finger, for me its usually the ring finger, is having a lot of trouble, then go back to moving one at a time, but switch so that the finger having trouble is first to move. Then you repeat this however many times with however many chords you need. Eventually you can even try doing it without looking, and by feeling that your pointer needs to go down one string, etc. I hope this helps! Also that strumming pattern is the first one I learned as well! (I remember it as its the strumming pattern to Here Comes the Sun). Really, practice makes all the difference, good luck! You're off to a great start!
I started in April of 2017. Having been playing piano since first grade helped a lot. I'm to the point where I am now considered an intermedite player. Not NEARLY as good as I hope to be soon but hey, One day :D
Omg can totally relate to you! When I started playing, I didn't even know what tuning was. I always just strummed down and I even had trouble strumming bc my fingers would get stuck😂 Now on day 5 it's easier to transition and I know 6 basic chords

Oh my god thankyou so much I've been using my fourth finger this whole time and using your index finger is so much easier!!!

It’s a great strumming pattern!

You should try fingerpicking too. You could learn the Harry Potter one

Hey you give me hope. I Purchased a ukulele and have never played an instrument before. Let's struggle together because the struggle is real!!
Yes!
With castle on a hill if you want to make it sound cooler/better with the down strum rather than the strumming pattern, do a mute after each down strum, hopefully you continue to improve and enjoy ukulele I know after playing for 3 years that it is time consuming but the best thing is you can always improve. As someone who literally just started playing last night because of your sister's tutorials, thank you for giving me hope!
❤️❤️❤️
You are doing pretty good for being a beginner. Keep practicing and you will definitely get there!
Thanks!
Great video and practice points. That is amazing progress. When playing and singing at the same time errors are compound. Makes it more challenging and fun but can lead to bad habits. Nice singing.
Thank you!!
You're going well, when I started to learn to play guitar I was like you but I just needed to practice more... and I wanna say that you're so funny 💖
Thank you!❤️
Ooooo for two months it's really good! Btw, i LOVE Your hair. LOL You an Elise inspired me to make my youtube channel, THANK YOUUU!!!!!
Thank you for your kind words❤️

So yeah. Good luck, pal!
I know the struggle. Thanks!!
Happy New Year! I love you Eden and I hope you have fun with youtube!
LOVE YOU. Thanks!!
I have a suggestion!! So for chords, you have to try to memorize the way to put your fingers for chords. Also I play lefty with a right handed, so it’s backwards. I’m weird. I’ve been playing ukulele for almost 2 years now. I started at 11.😂😂
Thanks for the suggestion! I definitely have been trying to memorize the placement of my fingers when I play the chords😊
I love your videos so far! You're improving! Can't wait for morrrre vids!💕💕💕💕💕Much love ❤
❤️❤️❤️thanks!
Oh i didn't know you had a channel! Yay! You go girl!

I just started learning ukulele too and singing while trying to do a complex strum is actually the hardest thing on the planet
Why are you and Elise so good at singing. Wtf teach me, mom.
Everyday I practiced for 3-4 hours and on the 6th day I can strum Riptide's strumming pattern and sing at the same time! Don't give up get, you can do it!

Thank you for the advice, it really does help!
