    I believe our leaders do listen to the people wants. Not long ago we had a Deputy PM who wasn't so popular with the majority for some reason and he retreated on health reasons and paved the way for Lawrence Wong to succeed him as Deputy PM and eventually PM. As you rightly said, Singapore is based on meritocracy and we the people want our leaders to be able to stand up and stand tall on the world stage.

    People on average do view him positively but are concerned with his overly friendly and soft demeanor because at the end of the day, we need a stern and pragmatic leader when it comes to foreign relations.

    Lawrence Wong is a Hainanese man.He is an honest man because of his late father hard work. I am also a Hainanese and my gifted son is now 21yrs old .My gifted son did not want to be a politician but rather a researcher like his teachers in Heaven. He wanted to fulfil God plan.Amen

    I think Singaporeans know and believe PM Lawrence Wong to be a genuine decent good guy. However, the test now is whether he has the iron to govern and lead the country forward. While we have been successful in many things in the past, we need to now move ahead by improving or even removing what is ineffective instead of dwelling on previous successes.

    13:10 my son who is now in secondary 2 this year have missed the boat. If this policy had been lobbied earlier and implemented, he would then have the opportunity to take up higher Chinese despite marginally missing out on the current criteria in his PSLE back in 2023.

    How come the woman host compares Lawrence Wong's speech with only Chinese leaders' speeches? She should also compare his speech to western leaders' speeches, which are word salads, and the promises will not be carried out.

      @@jeffwai125 Thanks for your feedback. The voices are AI-generated, so there may be a few minor glitches here and there. For example, the AI mis-spoke Hainanese Curry Rice as chicken rice, so i highlighted it in the video. I will take note on the confusion for future videos ☺

    • @samsara-cr3dd
      @samsara-cr3dd 5 днів тому

      The narrative is very bias, even ulterior. It's confusing for those who listen to the PM speech, but the narrative used it to attack Chinese political system and its govt and ideology! That's what wrong here. Comparing a nation of 7 to 8 million people with 1.4 billion people is groundless and irrelevant at best!

    The PM speech is okay, very good indeed in the context of Singapore, a small nation with population of 7 million or so!
    But the comment is too far away, using this speech to criticize China, a nation with 1.4 billion people. The comment sounds like there's some sense of leadership issue in mainland China. That's too far the interpretation. Very inpropriate! Not fit at all. It sounds quite sinister indeed, even though done in subtle way. That's what I caught hearing all the comments.

    Good message. Talk is cheap though. How many of our MInisters, MPs, Ministers of State, Head of Civil Service has a first degree or post graduate degree from a university in China. China’s top universities are now comparable to Ivy League universities. How much do our policy makers understand China? Right the imbalance, send our PSC scholars to China, not just Oxford or Cambridge or US top universities.

      @ , for a "small" nation, she should be cautious as US could cause impairment if not financial chaos almost immediately, though I believe the leadership had been aware of the overall scenario since L'KY's period. I do read the direction based on recent Lawrence's speech in Mandarin.
