Not gonna lie the more people make up their own like monsters and stuff the less scary it becomes. Kinda like creepy pastas, making a overabundant amount of story's & myths kinda takes away from the whole mystery aspect. Boiling it all down to who can make up the most overpowered monster that can kill you which is just stupid. So it's like SCP but in a different location.
Around 10 years ago, when I was a little kid, I often thought or dreamt (I don't remember which exactly) of a pool that streches on forever in rooms similar to the pool rooms concept. Now it creeps me out, because the pool rooms pictures are freakishly similar to my memories...
I also had a similar reoccurring dream about a pool,I'm not sure if it was infinite, but I remember soggy dim grey showers and drains in the floor and it going on for a while
The original image and short story is such an effective little existential horror that stuck in my head, I never really liked how it got extended to multiple levels with creepypasta monsters but to each their own.

I'm a fan of both the original and the extended lore, but I feel just having more levels makes it a bit less scary. Like how there's info on level 847 or some other big number, it makes me think that someone happened to survive so many levels, maybe not necessarily hundreds, to be able to make an in depth report on the location. It makes the levels seem less threatening, even with all the entities writers love cramming into them. To imagine someone got lucky and didn't die of starvation and thirst to make it 3 levels feels a bit more reasonable. Still love all the crazy ideas from the extended lore though, and I'm sure I'd shit my pants if i were in either version.
I despise the "expanded universe" approach that a lot of people have taken with the backrooms and think it completely misses the point of the OG backrooms pic and what it was trying to convey. To me it wasn't supposed to necessarily convey actual horror in a traditional sense, but adhere more closely to the strange feeling that liminal spaces give us. The uneasiness comes from the vague but hard to explain familiarity of it, the subtle otherwordly vibe to it where it looks similar to the real world but *feels* different somehow. The only other backrooms type thing I really like are the dreampool/pool rooms, which capture that feeling perfectly, although I unironically find them to be relaxing and soothing in a way that the OG backrooms isn't. I especially love the ambient music videos of the pool rooms. Supremely comfy.
OG backrooms was the best. It was just about being lost and alone in an unfamiliar surreal environment, simple and effective. Now its just the endless Ikea mixed with every horrible cliché SCP story that was to bad to make it onto the official SCP wiki. Another great horror idea ruined by getting too popular.
I can agree, infact, backrooms at first when it got popular, people start making levels that are inside buildings and it look liminal, i don't mind the new levels but i just hope from the fandom to make more levels that are inside a buildings + liminal with less properties, like bruh, 90% of the new levels right now is like either forests or citied with either red or black or white colors and also with weird properties that makes you think you got into another dimension
@@lilwaterbottle7002 i think it lost with all these SCPs, i miss the old SCP when it was just weird creature that shows disgusting/creepy/etc properties that they makes you think that they are like a failed experiments
A lot of the new content about the backrooms, be it games, videos or other media. Seems to be lacking the liminal feeling of the original concept. Which at least in my opinion, was the one thing that made the Backrooms so . . . eerie and surreal yet somehow familiar.
This is why I personally imagine each level of the Backrooms with no entities. Entities being introduced ruined the Backrooms. I remember when INTO THE BACKROOMS (ua-cam.com/video/nWkvc9yN4Ts/v-deo.html) was the only Backrooms found footage video. One rare instance of an entity. It was also escapable. The Backrooms are not an SCP.
Your videos are actually like heroine bro i really appreciate your vids. PLEASE keep it up. Your voice is calming and the subject matter is usually grim or disturbing, very nice contrast.
Hey CP could you actually show an iceberg in your future vids? Like at the beginning then show each individual one for each topic. Would be better imo. Excellent video!
OG backrooms was such a cool idea. The horror came from being unequivocally alone, no hope of escape or rescue. There didn't need to be dollar store SCP "entities", the isolation was enough. The tiktok kids got ahold of it and ruined it beyond any repair.
I never really understood what liminal spaces were about until my boyfriend and I went to a riteaid on a trip once. It looked normal on the outside but when we went in, it was a very large building. There were signs for different departments that were walled off by those walls on wheels. About half the store was empty and behind those walls. There were very few people there and the isles were extra wide to make up for how little space the business actually needed. It felt like someone made a set of a riteaid and put it in an abandoned grocery store that was too big. It was a very unsettling experience for sure
You know, apart from monsters being cool or somethin', I think people have bloated the backrooms with lore out of fear. The backrooms is unknowable, but these creators cannot cope with that. It's not just making scary photoshop creatures, it's desperately taking control. Despite everything though... The backrooms is and will always be an existential horror beyond our comprehension.
i know what the backrooms are 100percent the earths core was built and we had to fill it with something u got the idea for everything over 2000 years ago when i brought people down a great elevator that you would describe as a telephone box
hey man, im a scardey cat so please change your profile picture. i would subscribe but i dont want to see that picture everytime i go onto the youtube home page. also no offense but it doesn't look professional and just looks like some purposely made "scary" yt account from 2014
Crazy how a simple photo became such a phenomenon of internet horror
And said photo has recently had its origins discovered.

Facts
I wish that the backrooms fandom could start making levels that are more like the first 100 levels in the backrooms

couldn't've phrased it better bud

Honestly SCP hasn't lost its scariness but I guess that's from nostalgia
R/truebackrooms is a great omage to the original stuff before all the chiche stuff.
@@lilwaterbottle7002 i think it lost with all these SCPs, i miss the old SCP when it was just weird creature that shows disgusting/creepy/etc properties that they makes you think that they are like a failed experiments
Great video man! Couldn‘t agree more with you, the extended lore is cool and all, but the simplicity of the original concept is where it‘s at for me
I like the original backrooms, liminal spaces, and the pool rooms. The pool rooms are awesome.
The wiki just dumbs the idea down. You don't need a bazillion levels, goofy monsters or almond water for the backrooms to be scary.
Man you are so underrated thanks for making good content I can rewatch every so often :)
I feel like lore that was made before middle 2021 is the best
It’s been so damn long, FINALLY YAYY
It took me 4 whole minutes to realize that a backrooms iceberg isn’t the same as a liminal spaces iceberg
Really cool video! I can really see how much effort and work you put in this video! Also you have SUCH a nice voice to listen to😜❤️
Thank you so much 😘😘❤️❤️❤️

FINALLY A NEW VID! like i said before, this is amazing

Your videos are actually like heroine bro i really appreciate your vids. PLEASE keep it up. Your voice is calming and the subject matter is usually grim or disturbing, very nice contrast.
I really don’t know why people added entities, they just ruin it
Omg let’s go another ice berg, I was stuck rewatch your ice bergs, omg this is so goood
I can’t look at the wiki no more without seeing boring lvl remakes
Hey CP could you actually show an iceberg in your future vids? Like at the beginning then show each individual one for each topic. Would be better imo. Excellent video!
OG backrooms are THE backrooms
Creepy demon I say it everytime you deserve much more attention and you are very underrated

"goo goo gaga"
the only thing i hate nowdays is that the youtubers use backrooms for clickbait and gaining money and making bullshit video games
I am so disappointed that you had to mention that you are covering the true backrooms. if only kaine pixel didn't start the backrooms's fall
