- "JR" was enjoying his life in Guam; he had a good job, good friends, and lived a healthy lifestyle. Running, whether in competitive events or just for fun, was his passion. Then, on an ordinary day, driving a familiar route, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident that changed his life forever. At one point, it appeared JR would not recover from the injuries he suffered, which were quite severe and included the amputation of both legs above the knee. But he did recover, and that 'ordinary' day became 'the day JR didn't die.' That was in 2010. Since then JR has committed himself to regaining his strength and independence. Prosthetic care in Guam is very limited, so JR searched the internet for alternatives, which led him to Southern California Prosthetics. With new sockets and lots of determination, JR took his first steps on C-Leg microprocessor knees.
Awesome keep living life to it’s fullest I’m a BK amputee from a motorcycle accident, so I know how you feel.. don’t let anything keep you down..
These therapists are incredible. Great job young man.❤️
I am amazed to see you on your miracle legs. I was very fortunate to be part of the ICU medical team at USNH, Guam who witness your miraculous recovery . God really loves you.
This is awesome...I love this video...it helps me a lot...wish I had a team and place like this to practice. I have only took a few steps with out holding on....I need those long parallel bars to practice.
JR-I am so glad to see you in your C-legs, and so glad that God saw fit to make a way for your approval of the coverage. I will continue to pray for the your continued rehabilitation and safety. So glad to be a small part of your recovery.
BRAVO...!
Will somebody reach out to me for guidance. I am an right AK. My first prosthesis never fit correctly. It was always me not using it correctly. Finally, I found out my prosthetic maker had been convicted of Medicare and insurance Fraud. I changed to Hanger for help in getting a socket that fit. So far, so go. Except now my residual limb has shrunk significantly and we are going to have to remake a new socket. The problem is in 2 and 1/2 years I have not taken my first independent step. Essentially I am now stuck until we can make a new socket.
I believe that the socket must fit like a glove, as if it is a total extension of your femoral bone running through the residual limb socket and lower prosthesis. Am I like in the ballpark or just about to quit and give up.
