A: If you can not change the settings in BIOS or if changing them did not help your situation, skip that step and proceed with the rest of the steps in this updated video: • How To Fix HP No Hard ... . What was the result of the HP diagnostic test?
Q: The diagnostic scan says that my Hard Drive is not installed or that it failed the test.
A: If the diagnostic test said your HDD failed or was not installed, its most likely either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive as you can see here in this updated video: • How To Fix HP Boot Loo... . After that, try the diagnostic scan again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see replacement examples here in the Computer Component List: www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey/....

Q: Changing settings in BIOS didn't help and everything passed the test?
A: If changing the settings in BIOS did not resolve the issue and the diagnostic test passed all components, then its most likely an operating system error. Try to reinstall Windows.

Q: My diagnostic test says 'Unavailable' or I cant run it. What do I do?
A: I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. You can see that done here in this updated video: • How To Fix HP Boot Loo... . See if that helps.
If you cant run the test, then we don’t know for sure if the HDD is bad or not. You can proceed a couple different ways. You can assume its good and that the Operating System is the cause of your error. Or you can assume its bad and replace it before installing an Operating System to the new one. @@neptunerie That means your Hard Drive is either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. That is where you unplug it and then plug it back in, making sure its properly plugged in and secure. Try the scan again. OMG..simply changing the time and date in BIOS, the very first step you said, worked!! I havn't used my (then new) computer for a year because it wouldnt turn on and here we go. That's all it took. Glad I didnt take it to a service center and spend hundreds for this simple fix! Thank you so much PC monkey. I subscribed.

god thank you, i was panicking so bad, thinking i broke my laptop after i didnt use it for a month. but turns out i just needed to change my time in the legacy. My hard disk wasn't properly inserted, so I opened up my laptop and inserted it properly
After the quick check I just went back to main menu and clicked exit and my system started up instantly!!

You literally save my life, mine was even worse! When I pressed F2 and did ‘hard disk check’ , it told me ‘ no hard disk detect’ I was hoping for miracle and press F10 anyway. I change the boot to ‘Legacy’ and save. Still having same error after four tries. At that point I started crying and called for computer geek buddy. He said ‘take a picture of model number and we shall see if any of my files can be saved, but how urgent are you?’ Oh my god! So after I hung up, I was determined to give it one more try. Haha! It came back to life and I am backing all my files as we speak, I am so glad something good is still applied to me. Thanks for billions!

@@PC_Monkey I changed the setting to Legacy and the comouter turned on fine. But i noticed that the security boot setting disables when you preform that switch. Is there a way to turn that setting back on?? Is my laptop secure???

Thank you. Great job. It worked on my HP Laptop so far. It's back up and running. But it begs the question: why did this happen in the first place? I'm no expert. But I'm assuming the makers installed a secondary pathway for the DOS to go through...like a fail safe.
What step worked for your situation?
@@PC_Monkey After I disabled Legacy, followed the affirmation instructions, then restarted it. It was slow of course since it's completely rebooting, but for now all is well. It's asleep in the other room. I'm typing this from my main computer.
@@fluff1353 Sometimes BIOS looses power momentarily and some settings reset. Perhaps that setting switched away from what it should have been. But its been corrected now :) If it happens regularly, consider replacing the CMOS Battery.
@@PC_Monkey Nope. Update. It failed again after it lasted a few hours. Then went to a screen with a prompt asking for me to load a boot disk. It's dead. Also...ran a HD check again. Drive passed but WARNING on the DIS or whatever it is check. Dead as driftwood.

Dude, i can't thank you enough. My heart stopped beating for a moment when my laptop crashed, and said no hard drive. I did a memory check and restarted the laptop again and it worked then. All my school works are there...... Huh 😥

Its funky, but sometimes the computer just has to reset the connection to the HDD :) Sometimes the scans do this

I installed a new ssd and I am having this problem. It’s a new ssd so it shouldn’t be bad
what problem? I also have installed another SSD apart from the HDD it has from the factory. I did a copy of win10 on the SSD and the bios don't show the SSD as an option. Idk what to do

I had that same issue. I enabled Legacy and rebooted, and now it works fine.
"Quick check" told me no hard drive and to check cables and data in order to fix the issue.
But again, Switching my legacy disabled/enabled fixed the issue for me.
Did doing that reset your laptop??
@@nainasingh3296 Not as far as I can recall. I think I just force shut down the computer, and turned it back on, with the new settings enabled.

After the quick hard drive check I had the "no hard disk detect", i was thinking of opening my laptop to reconnect the hard drive but read the first comment of someone who had the same problem, so i went for f10 and it didn' t even sent me to the BIOS, It was as if i was just finishing to set up Windows and now it's working perfectly. Thank You So Much! ❤
