Its such a shame that during Poe's life up until his older years his literature was overlooked and never got the fame and notoriety that he deserves. Although with the type of man he was, he would probably not want the attention of fame anyway. Very humbling talented man. Thanks for sharing Dan
This exhibit and your video is incredible! I've been an Edgar Allen Poe fan since I was in the fourth grade, when I had a wonderful teacher that read 3 of his books to us. I've read all of his writings many times over and have watched all of the Vincent Price movie renditions of his works. The obituary blew me away, it should have started with "The world has lost a brilliant literary mind, of which many will mourn..." I'd LOVE to visit that library or live close to it, so I could visit often because just it's stunning!! Thank you for making this video!
Hey Dan, So refreshing to see the diversity in your channels.I suppose I shouldn't be ashamed to uncontrollably laughing at loud over your commentary about burn holes and seamon stains, if I can appreciate the quiet time historical presentations submitted on here.Outstanding material,Many thanks.
This was really beautiful, as usual ❣ I love filming style & content. Maybe next time you can go to the African-American Museum, for those of us who aren't able
Poe is one of my favorite artists, and was my favorite writer growing up. His biography is as tragic as they come, but what I admire most about him is his dedication to his craft and vivid imagination. Many of the fears and anxieties we have as humans he encapsulated with his characters and framed them around the natural horrors we all encounter at some point in our lives. The fact that he was never recognized until after his passing lends greater credence to his legacy. He was never a celebrity by any measure.
There is nothing better than enjoying a favorite book, or discovering a great book for the first time. What a lovely place to go see the works of Poe. He was so tragically broken and brilliant.
Very cool. I look at some letters my father wrote way back when and the penmanship is just beautiful. What a lost art. There really should be a Poe font! Thank you for enlightening us on a bit of history.
This is Amazing ! LOVE Edgar Allen Poe ! AMAZING handwriting, Love it ! That old RAVEN Movie is my all time Favorite, I watched that many time. Love the part with Vincent Price in his chamber reading The Raven. And.... NEVERMORE.... Really Enjoyed this one, Thank You, Dan. :)
_Dan, I wear earbuds all night and leave music or something on YT playing until I get to sleep. I HAVE to thank you for these quiet time videos that I have already watched. I can just leave those on play & before I get through the first one, YOUR VOICE is so calming and amazing... I AM OUT! I WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU. Trust me, it's not that you're boring, I have already seen the videos 2-3 times. THANK YOU! 😉_
I read a lot of his stories growing up, but noticed there are still a lot of his writings I haven't read. The drawing of the woman that graced the sheet music to Annabelle Lee kind of reminded me of a young Liz Taylor...the key words being "kind of." Elizabeth Taylor was an incredibly and uniquely gorgeous woman. I'd love to be able to Peabody Museum and especially the Poe display. He was a unique author with a greatly troubled life. I wish we really knew what caused his death. In a way it's kind of ironic that his death was as enigmatic as his writings. Sorry for my excessive reply. Enjoy all of your videos!!!
Thanks so much. Was so nice to see what I've only read about, when Edgar Poe was an editor and published those small magazines. That library reminds me of parts of the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh.
Thank you so much for this Dan! I was so excited when I saw that this Quiet Time video was the Edgar Allan Poe museum. So amazing and that gorgeous library, I am speechless! 😍
WOW!! I'm glad you filmed the exhibit! I've never seen woodcut prints that intricate and emotes the feeling of EAP's works. The architecture of the library is stunning!
Amazing Video Dan, Thank You. Love Poe and His Works. I'm Lucky Enough to Have a First Edition 5 Volume Set of Edgar Allan Poe's Writings and Poem's from 1903. I Found it in a Little Used Bookstore in 1982. Thanks Again.
This was incredible! Thank you very much for sharing your experience with Mr Poe's artifacts. It was quite fascinating and perfect for "Quiet Time." Well Done, as always!
Wow thanks Dan! What a great collection they have. I would love to see it in person. Thanks so much for the next best thing. And the library...beautiful!!!!!!
I love these videos, very interesting content while also genuine. I love hearing the camera, the atmosphere, the genuine quiet (respectful) commentary. Thank you for posting this. :)
That was really cool. What penmanship! & those illustrations were exquisite. Baltimore's finest, indeed. I hadn't seen the bldg. yet when I 1st commented. Breathtaking! Gives one a chance to imagine what the city must've looked like in it's heyday, when star architects came to town to design gems like this museum.
yay! i've been hoping you would do some sort of video on poe since i know you live in baltimore and you posted that picture from his gravesite on your instagram. this is so neat!
I loved this! It's amazing. I have never seen this kind of stuff before on any kind of subject other than copies in books. Thank you for this. If that were a subject that works well with Quiet Time it's Poe.
I thought the same thing as Will, that Poe's handwriting looked like a font! Just amazing! What a fascinating video. I had studied advanced poetry at Villa Julie and we did a class trip to the Poe House which was amazing but I hadn't seen anything like this before. Thanks Dan!
What an amazing place! Would love to go visit it someday. To see his actual writing and especially the lock of hair gave me chills. What a sad ending to one of our great literary masters. I'm so glad his works are still around today and will be for more generations!
Wow. What an amazing display and library. Would love to get down there sometime to see it. I took a public speaking class in as a Junior in high school and for our final we had to do a themed presentation. Part of mine involved reciting "The Raven".
Interesting choices for exhibit , the dark art and beautiful gold winged angel depicted on the raven, the endless rare library ...his hair though ? Wowed again.
My grandmother wrote with a pen that had liquid cartridges for it. Same sort of writing. She was born in 1885 and dies in 1974. And the pens dipped in ink were called quill pens, I believe.
And my beloved Aubrey Beardsley gets a cameo too! Is this the Peabody Library? I love Poe, thanks for posting it so those of us far away from Baltimore can see it.
I like your videos you do good work they're interesting especially that place Lincoln Park killing Park whichever you guys call it strange place on a morbid note your voice sounds an awful lot like Scott Michaels from dearly departed tours I'm a fan of that channel and yours
when i was 3, my grandmother started reading Poe to me,,,she had one of the books with everything in it, but it was the thickest and for some reason that is why i wanted that one..lol...but after a while..'TELL TALE HEART" became my fav...she had it completely memorized in about 3 weeks ..lol..oh, and the lock of hair....seems that quite a big chunk must have been cut from his hair...because i have one of them..my grandfather was an antique dealer...with connections...lol...i never asked him what he paid for it..he would'nt tell me...and it is put away somewhere safe for my children..
"Edgar Allen Poe is dead. This announcement will startle many, but few will be grieved by it." I BEG your pardon?! Could we be just a bit more crass, Mister Publisher? "Few will be grieved", indeed! Any fan of Poe's writing would've been. Poor Edgar, published and published but perished all the same. RIP sir...you are alive in your writings even well over 150 years since your passing
"OMG So Amazing,I could stay there all day"I Believe this man was lied on,They said he was a drunk, and he was drunk the night he died,But that was not true,I feel this poor man had alot of sadness in his life,I Pray he is Resting in Peace!!!"
You can buy for a few dollars facsimiles of THE RAVEN and ANNABEL LEE online on parchment paper its pretty nice and impressive to own if your a Poe fan.
Its such a shame that during Poe's life up until his older years his literature was overlooked and never got the fame and notoriety that he deserves. Although with the type of man he was, he would probably not want the attention of fame anyway. Very humbling talented man. Thanks for sharing Dan

I never make fun of anyone misspelling a word cause I do it a lot. I did chuckle however at the way you spelled semen , I thought it was so cute !!!
this is the highlight of my week
thank you Dan for doing this video !!! i emailed you couple years ago about making something on Poe :)
Wow, amazing Dan! I love Edgar Allan Poe!
Thank you for sharing this with us Dan, I may never get to the states in my lifetime and I can at least see this through you :)

Thank you for watching, Patte!
Ah, that is amazing! This is my new favourite episode, Dan, as I've always loved EAP! 💙
thanks for showing this beautiful exhibition, I love EAP
As a long time, massive Poe fan, I'm so very jealous you got to see such precious and special artefacts.
This makes my librarian heart so happy!
(John Phillips Souza and Poe is not a combination I would have expected, btw.)
This is stunning, Poe is one of my all time favourite authors.
He was such an incredible and creative person.
Such a cool video!!! Thanks Dan 😊
Love this! love Poe! Thanks for this

Incredible! Thanks Dan!
Very Very Nice! Been a fan of Poe since I was a kid.
A few years ago I found out that I'm actually related to Edgar Allan Poe, I was completely shocked!! My great grandmother was a Poe.
Two native sons of Baltimore and great artists - Poe and Dan Bell.
+Josh Hodgson Let's not get carried away!!
That's awesome!
Thanks for posting! I read that when they exhumed his grave to move it, the whole coffin broke apart. Many people wanted pieces of it. 🕷🕸⚰
+Lynn Plummer That's probably true. He had been interred for quite some time before the exhumed him. The casket was probably rotten.
What an amazing place! Would love to go visit it someday. To see his actual writing and especially the lock of hair gave me chills. What a sad ending to one of our great literary masters. I'm so glad his works are still around today and will be for more generations!
That was great! I would love to visit there one day-the library is gorgeous
Does anyone else think that Will strongly resembles Edgar Allen Poe??? :)
Now that you mention it...
If I squint and look real hard
Wow. What an amazing display and library. Would love to get down there sometime to see it. I took a public speaking class in as a Junior in high school and for our final we had to do a themed presentation. Part of mine involved reciting "The Raven".
That was amazing, thank you
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore"!
Dan, these videos are awesome, Please do ASMR! Every single series I enjoy. Thank you!
"Back when shit was important"
Great lol
Great video Dan
Never thought seeing someone videotaping books in a glass case would be watchable. Beautiful books.
Very cool exhibit. EAP is a master story teller.
This was amazing!!
My birthday happens to fall on the same day and month (January 29th) that The Raven was published and I couldn't be more giddy about it. :)
Interesting choices for exhibit , the dark art and beautiful gold winged angel depicted on the raven, the endless rare library ...his hair though ?
Wowed again.

And my beloved Aubrey Beardsley gets a cameo too! Is this the Peabody Library? I love Poe, thanks for posting it so those of us far away from Baltimore can see it.
Fantastic 👍
Well done, sir. Exquis.
Thank You! This was great! It would be great if they could do a DNA profile on the hair and people could see if they are related!
wow.. I wish I'd heard about this exhibit before it closed. That would have been amazing to see. :(
I like your videos you do good work they're interesting especially that place Lincoln Park killing Park whichever you guys call it strange place on a morbid note your voice sounds an awful lot like Scott Michaels from dearly departed tours I'm a fan of that channel and yours

Poe was a awesome writer one of the greats.
Very very cool, thank you
i love to have a visit of this ....
WOW, how f'in cool man. You never really know what your gonna get on the Film It channel.
it be cool if there was a Alexander hamelton style of Edgar Allen Poe's life
I loved to watch the old Vincent Van Price movies “the pit and the pendulum” and “ fall of the house of Usher” !
cool ASMR narration
Hand writing had to be small in Poe's day . This was due to the high price of quality writing paper.
when i was 3, my grandmother started reading Poe to me,,,she had one of the books with everything in it, but it was the thickest and for some reason that is why i wanted that one..lol...but after a while..'TELL TALE HEART" became my fav...she had it completely memorized in about 3 weeks ..lol..oh, and the lock of hair....seems that quite a big chunk must have been cut from his hair...because i have one of them..my grandfather was an antique dealer...with connections...lol...i never asked him what he paid for it..he would'nt tell me...and it is put away somewhere safe for my children..
Are you at the Poe museum in Richmond?
his handwriting was awesome
Is this asmr?
Hey gang. I don't know a damn thing about Poe. What do you suggest I read/watch to learn more about him and his work?
stewie poohie start with A Tell-Tale Heart. You'll be hooked!
Have you ever been to the Rosewood Center?
Dan? Dan this was GREAT!
Did you notice the front cover illustration on the 1866 edition looks like William??? Creeeeeepeh!!!! LOL
I really have to know..whose engagement ring was that!? Also, a lot of the fonts and scripts we see now we're derived from a Printer's handwriting.
*whispers* HOLY CRAP POE COLLABORATED WITH SOUSA?!
dan bell my mom owns a locket with his hair in it post mortem
I hope the locket is in a safe deposit box. Very sought after item. You’re very lucky to have it in your family.

I'm a nut for EAP's works.
Wow. Who knew Poe was into rap music.
I miss quiet time.

My first response when I found this...ooohhh....squeee!
