- BIG BEAUTIFUL BOILER WOOD! Today we make the first of many loads of boiler wood that is going to a new customer that got bad wood from another wood seller and I got the job by asking lots of questions and doing a free "consultation" with the customer to get her what she wants for boiler wood. She wanted 1/2 a truck load and ended up asking for a FULL truckload..semi-truckload that is.
Definitely don’t take long make trailer wood. Your video you did few years ago on them hats was great I got 3 them. Makes working in the heat so much nicer. Hope you had a good 4 th 🇺🇸
Yup, a cool head is nice to have!
one in five woodhounds hit the morning like button. Customer service at it's finest converting customers fried by others.
Thanks for watching!
Good afternoon Chris!!😀😀
Nice load of wood!!
I could use a load just like it if I could afford it. LOL!!
Take care buddy!!😀😀💚
Logger Al
I'll be bringing you some in a few weeks.
@@BertsCustomCuts sounds great!!😀😀
Yup, it was from John, probably came from your area??
I use to deliver wood to an old facility that had a real Boiler and they were happy with up to 6 foot long . Loaded it with a fork lift . I could take them a Tandem dump truck load at a time
Yup, there are some big boilers out there for sure!
Happy fourth, man Chris I'm jealous of that barkless, dryer oak you get a hold of,that stuff again is practically dry.lol
Thanks...yup, it is about 80% dry already.
Nice job Chris. GNI.
Thanks Larry!
Great stuff! Love to see that big machine working. Nice looking logs, seemed really dry. Can't wait to see a full crew working that sixteen way! Cheers from HB NZ
You and me both! Thanks!
Chris now that’s a great 👍 customer to have now and in the future 😮😊❤
I think so too! Thanks!
Happy Birthday America 🇺🇸
Yup, 248 years and not what she used to be!
Great job Chris with the wood . Happy Independence Day to all patriots
Thanks! USA! Freedom!
Nice beautiful load of wood.
I had a lady that wanted larger stuff. I just wasn't ready. 😉👍
Thanks 👍
Enjoy 4th of July Chris and families at the Woodyard and viewers too😁🇦🇺
Nice work Chris
Thanks!
What a powerful and productive processor. My first time seeing it in operation. Too bad it didn't deliver and stack it. Enjoy the 4th 👍👍👍
Yes it is that! Thanks!
Good morning all, processor time!
yup!
Happy forth
Hello! Thanks!
Appx 3/4-1 hour set up time for 36ish cords of minimal touch firewood sounds reasonable to me vs throwing it in the bins and then loading back into the delivery trailer. Now You should! take the rest of today off and have a Happy 4th of July.😬
Yup, so far I have had 4 $800 days with 3-4 hours of work each day.
Happy forth of July.
Same to you my good man!
A lady that likes big firewood ,that's my kind of women!
Yup.
different segment than normal. nice to see you take a custom order for boiler wood. My brother has a boiler and he burns just about anything,. its all dependent on if he can get it into the boiler or not. different not seeing you in a ball cap but in a boonie.....must be gonna be a hot day.....lol. thanks for sharing.
Yup, hot and I was on meds for Lymes disease then and had to stay out of the sun.
G’morning Chris. Most best boilering. Nice custom sized action. The ol bar saw is doing good.
GoodNightIrene
Yup, a boilerfest!
Bout time Professor. Looking good. 9 outta 10.
I hope I can earn an 11 some day from you Phil! Ha!
Happy 4th of July to all. Another fine video Chris and an example of you doing what the customer wanted. A good friend of mine does the same with his boiler wood, splits the rounds for ease of handling and to aid the wood in drying out faster. He just heaps it up and then stacks it later near the boiler. Splits stack easier as you have noted. GNI.
Thanks for watching and logic.
Ho wow ! She's a LUCKY LADY to have you ! Nice
Yup.
That is making a load of wood in a hurry. Keep up the hard work, Chris
Yup, will do!
Happy Fourth of July everyone. Nice job Chris and thanks for spending time making videos for us.👍
Thanks Ken!
Nice work Chris! Not sure if it's just the camera angle or not but the cradle looks to be offset slightly. The pieces aren't centered to the wedge. It's not really a big deal because it just gives a variety of piece sizes. - Tim
You are correct, it is an offset chamber. There is about 1/2 inch difference from side to side on the wedge...one side is about 5 1/2" and the other about 5".
Happy Independence Day!
Same to you!!!
Good morning the Woodyard Happy 4th July everyone nice video Chris ( Ty Ron
Hello Ron, thanks!
Happy 4th of July Chris, love from the Netherlands
Thanks!
Good 4th of July Morning Woodhounds!!
Hello!!!
Good morning Chris, happy 4th of July cheers 🍻
Morning! Thanks Bobby!
Custom wood!! Glad you could help out the Lady!! Happy 4th of July!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Yup, thanks!
Someone looks like they have been practicing tractor driving. Happy 4th!!
No, just using it for a couple years now. Thanks for watching!
Happy 4th of July, Chris n Family!!🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Wayne, same to you and yours!
I think the tractor picked up a cow bell. ((Or at least thats what i think im hearing.))
.
So now im obligated to say.
Needs more cow bell..
LOL
I had a fever and the only cure is more cow bell! HA! It was a chain hitting the pto shroud.

Booooooo
Happy 4th to all the wood hounds. Chris do you adjust price for this kind of wood for boilers? Nice you could help the lady out for this fall and winter wood. Go have some fun. Was this the first boiler wood you put out?
Yes and yes. Thanks!
That was a good one Chris!!
Thanks!
Looking from the outside in it looks like you would have less troubles with the rounds in the chamber if you let the round fall onto the blue table then let it down.. no offense of course
Oh also what would be interesting to see if it works is when you put the big 16 way back in is take some of the big rounds instead off noodling them load in the processor with that grapple and see if it splits then you want have to do all that man handling just some resplits.
Yup, good observation, it does work better to slowly drop the rounds into the chamber like that. The big stuff over 20-22" will not fit in the processor splitting chamber, noodling is pretty fast easy and fun with a big saw....and the 23" and up stuff up to 40+ is way easier to noodle than trying to man handle in and onto a log lift too, I have done it on lots of splitters with log lifts....they are mostly used as tables...I prefer ripping..
@@InTheWoodyard I was talking about like the big rounds that's cut 16 inches long and drop those in the processor chamber with the beak on that grapple and see if that new 16 way would split... just curious and would make for interesting and different video.
Again no offense intended my friend...
That’s the size wood I use in my boiler. Happy 4 of July.
Nice, thanks!
That oak looks very ready to burn.
Yup, most of it is that!
Well I thought boiler wood would be easier! Little more time spent getting the rounds to drop down in due to the length! I bet if she was ok with 16” pieces it would have went real quick! Happy 4th Sir Chris🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Perhaps shortening the round a quarter inch at a time would be good compromise to get higher production. There is very small length difference between 20" and 19.75" if the customer will accept it. Even one little adjustment could make the work flow smoother.
Yup, they do not fall straight down always and some times twist and get caught on the ends before they are in the splitting chamber. BUT still 4x faster than a chainsaw and manually loading.
Maybe some ... but the wider the rounds still would get caught sometimes as they do not fall straight down and the slight angle causes the ends to catch.
🤘
Thanks a bunch!
👍👍👍
Thanks!!!
Hey. Chris
Hello there Sir Raphy Baby! Have a great 4th of JULY! Blow some stuff up!
Time for a beer Happy 4TH
Thanks!
How often does the chain on that big girl need to be sharpened? I assume you swap it out and sharpen chains for it on the bench some how?
It is .404 chain and it stays sharp a long time. We sharpen maybe every 8-10 hours of run time and I usually just leave the chain on and use the Dremel.
@@InTheWoodyard great you can do it while still on, that would make life much easier!
Chris’s custom cut’s
Ha! Yup.
I'm curious why couldn't you just use the single wedge for boiler wood
There is no single wedge for the processor, we have a 4,6,8,12 and 16 way wedge.
The small diameter logs, why even split them for the boiler order? Also, have u ever tried to pile up additional logs on top of each other, I would think they should be able to self load as they move towards the feeder. Just saying
Splitting aids in drying better and faster and the splits stack better and easier...she wanted them split....so I am doing what she wants and doing the right thing in making of the wood...split wood is better. Also the processor ram has to be used to get the round out of the chamber and the wedge is there so it will be split unless I manually cut and hand load them or manually pull them out and over the wedge. You DO NOT want 2 logs at a time in the log trough, only one can be clamped with the log clamp before the bar comes down and if 2 are in there the other log has nothing holding it and the log gets caught by the chain and gets twisted around by the force of the chain and with nothing holding it it bounces violently all over the place....bad juju!
Your customer should not be messed with if she's not afraid to throw big chunks of firewood! Lol
Nope she it tough!
Man if I had that larg a concrete pad you couldnt stop me from putting a large pile of split wood there so I could scoop it up with the tractor
You will see that too...soon. But loading wood directly into the trailer with out having to do that saves a lot of effort and time.
Did that small stuff really need to be split? Unless it was still wet
Yup, she wanted it split and it will stack easier and dry better too AND how would I cut it and not have it go through the wedge without manually picking it out of the splitting chamber and tossing it onto the conveyor with every cut OR cutting it all with a chainsaw and manually loading each round.
🇺🇸
Thanks!
Whats the longest round your splitter will split ?
The chamber is about 24"but I think a 22" long round would fall in okay any longer and it will have a hard time not getting hung up as it falls in it. It is a 22mb... so..... that makes sense I guess.
@@InTheWoodyard sorry , I meant the other e.m. splitter
The little one
Hi Chris, I know that this may be a favor for a friend, or an experiment to see if you are missing out on a different customer type. It looks to me like doing the setup changes back and forth are not worth the effort. People with boilers are the most resourceful people burning wood, the largest percentage harvest, split and store their own wood and never go looking to buy. They are also very frugal, always looking for the cheapest wood. Many of them will buy green wood willingly because they have a place to store it for a year or two.
What I am getting at is that if you start chasing the boiler wood market you will get it. Most people with a big house and a boiler use 10-12 full cords a year. At that rate you might end up with about 30 customers gobbling up your entire production, while whining for you to lower your prices, switching to someone who will sell them junk for even less money, or who have two boys now in their teen and decide to do it all themselves. You and I both have friends and neighbors with boilers, I helped out a neighbor whose back went out last winter, but I am not looking for his wood business because he doesn’t want to pay for the good stuff.
Yup, I know when to say no and will stick to my prices. I don't NEED to sell any wood but I like to do it and I know my limits and when to stop. BUT...I do have some awesome equipment to make it happen...as much or as little as I want. Thanks!
Chris cut them with you chainsaws???No brainer easy easy?or sell her your cookies?
Why when I have a processor that will cut and split and load all the wood in 1/4 of the time and I do not have to touch the wood???
The Globalists hate our wood boilers 😢😢😢
Lots of loons out there!
The temperature inside my outdoor boiler is regulated by
A thermostat which controls
Ventilation and fan. The size
If the wood has no bearing on
The temperature of the fire or
The heated water. Time of
Burn is directly related to the amount of wood in the firebox.
I have burned wood since the
Late 80's. I buy cut, split the same amount of wood each
Year. I get the same amount
Of heat regardless of the size
If the wood. This is a " myth"
That needs to go away.
YES! You are exactly correct my good man...Most boiler people believe bigger is better...I agree with you the total amount of the wood AND the amount of oxygen is what matters along with a good working damper control!!!! YES!
Thanks for your kind reply. When
I started burning I thought that
Larger pieces burned longer if
Not hotter. My experience didn't
Show that. Bigger pieces does
Mean less splitting and fewer
Pieces to handle. The tradeoff
Is the difficulty of loading large
Splits correctly. I just got too
Old to handle the big stuff and
Started splitting smaller to
Save my back and shoulders.
I just found that I burned the
Same amount of wood.
Those look too small for boiler.
It all burns and it is for a "mature woman" it is the size she wanted.
Minimal fingerprints!
yup....almost zero!
👍👍👍
Thanks!!!
