The accurate weights for these trucks are 14.2 US Tons (12.9 tons) for the C500 & 12.7 US Tons (11.5 tons) for the T880. Both Trucks weights are best in class currently
So a T880 is basically W990 without the custom tires, but it retains super powerful engine. C500 seems to be a great heavy hauler. It sounds like fun to play with these
So, I bought the DLC and tested the trucks. IMO both trucks are held back by ground clearance. T880 has smaller tires than other 6x4 trucks and seems to get stuck in the mud much sooner than W990 and P512. Truck body is high enough to not cause trouble but axle collisions are lower. When it's going - it's easy to drive, stable and fast. But it digs itself in the deeper mud, where it has no hope and only winch can save it. It's a great, versatile truck for light and medium terrain - faster and more stable than W990, though W990 is more capable in heavy terrain. T880 is also one of, if not the smallest and the most nimble truck with 3 slot cargo bed. That's at the expense of a crane. I wish they gave it some ramps for vehicles to drive onto it as that would be quite unique. C500 is easily one of the best haulers. In some extreme conditions it could use more power and ground clearance holds it back in really deep mud as well. If it had portal axles or 2in bigger tires, it would easily be the best in class.
I've already got 4 C500s, 1 for medium logs, 1 for low saddle, 1 for long logs, and 1 with the flat bed. It's actually really enjoyable to use and it's got great stability and fuel economy.
Kenworth and mack are my two favorite truck brands, im a bit biased due to my uncle driving them for a living, but as a kid it was cool as hell riding along with him when my dad was off workin, he was such a great uncle, unfortunately some logs were loaded improperly when i was 14 and he isnt around no more, accidents happen and im good friends with the guy who messed up, he hates himself to this day because of it, but i try to help him through it and im 31 now, hes a good dude, just hates that he made a mistake
Just a random little note about the safety cage: It looks a million times better if you pair it with one of the alternate bumpers, in my opinion at least. The caging of the bumpers link up with the caging around the cab, creating a full cab suit of armor.
Something interesting to note with the C500 in game, it looks like the devs modeled it after a winch tractor. I'd have to look at it myself in the game, but i think i see a live roll at the end of the frame. C500s are typically used for heavy haul, so it surprised me when you said it was classified as a heavy duty truck instead of another super heavy truck. But, as you also said, it's not a bad thing. I'm excited to try these trucks out in the future
I tested both of these in British Colombia and Taymir a bit. The C500 is a really great heavy duty truck, both with low saddle and with the flatbed. The T880 is also a nice challenge, I ran it mostly with the 3 slot flatbed, but I almost feel like the top engine has too much power. Even with OHDs it likes to dig itself into the mud quite quickly, still needs some testing to do there. Looking forward to your test stream when it his YT. Timezone issues prevent me from catching your streams live on Twitch, so I usually watch them afterwards on YT.
I drove the T880 around a bit in my New Game+ I use to test stuff out, and it is a savage animal with that upgrade engine, even with the offroad gearbox installed, it is still an absolute rocket.
Having picked up this one and the W990 for myself, the T880 does not shred like the W990. The T880 is a more dedicated mild terrain hauler. Powerful engine but can't really compete once the mud starts factoring into the picture while the W990 doesn't seem to care about mud, it just tears through it like an angry honey badger. C500, well what you see seems to be what you get. I wouldn't say its an S class rig, but it'll get the job done. Rocks are the downfall of all 3 though, W990 and T880 lack AWD to get the front wheels over a ledge, and the C500 is low and long making it prone to high centering.
See for me, these two trucks (especially the c500) scratch a certain American truck itch that hasnt been scratched since the p512. Lemme tell ya i love the old american icons, the paystar, the p16, the p12. I love that boxy long nose heavy hauler look. Im pushing 1000 hours in snowrunner and i will chose style over stats EVERY SINGLE TIME i dont care how good these trucks are they look good and that means they will have a place in my fleet PS. Yes i know pacific is a Canadian company i just used those trucks as examples
Having 288k torque for a highway truck is crazy... 9.0 consumption is a God blessing for this amount of torque, however, for a highway truck the consumption is kinda too high. I'd probably keep the stock engine on it, if I ever get my hands on the DLC. The C500 seems interesting, but kinda too low. Time will tell.
That c500 needs a lot more weight, around 15T. The c500 line are the largest and heaviest trucks Kenworth makes, though admittedly this is about as small as they get, heh. But so far I'm not seeing any real distinction besides engine and styling between the two new trucks. The 800 series are vocational medium duty trucks, and 500 are bespoke specialty heavy haul and custom rigs. Instead, we get slightly better versions of the W990 in different ways. One has power and a 3 slot, the other AWD and forward stowed log crane. I would have LOVED to see a proper super spec c500 with custom built in large crane, hi and low saddles, tri drive and dual steer. Would have made it a truly standout truck without contributing to power creep nor adding another garage decoration. As it is, we are continuing the trend of getting more of the same with only slight variations. Don't get me wrong, I will use that c500 a LOT, but just MASSIVELY disappointed at the missed opportunity. The c500 could have been the perfect companion truck to the Twinsteer, as they often are in real life. The US doesn't need yet another multi purpose haul truck, but it absolutely could have used a unique specialist truck. If you like big machines, check out some of the real c500 crane trucks, though you may come back dissatisfied with Sabre for the missed opportunity.
Nice ! i'm getting this pack as well. I really like W990 so i have high hopes for this pack So C500 is using a weaker engine than the T880 but it have a AWD
I feel like the T880 is the favorite child to saber while everyone was waiting for the C500. Like the custom bed 😂 Idk seems very boring to me along with a much weaker engine, and the truck is heavier I'm pretty sure? Anyways will be getting it regardless.
@@NProvince You are right I got to try it now and I am honestly happy with it. I did 2 contracts and a task. When I got to the delivery point only then I realized the truck I was pulling had its engine off. 😂 God Bless.
Ahh more trucks that you need to use your brain to drive. I've done a little testing and on it's stock tires the C500 seem good. Only really inhibited by their size which is fine by me.
@NProvince bro I just suggest you to test hx520 and c500 at same contidions and u will observe that these trucks are same... At some point hx performs better i dunno how, at some point c500 performs better(not much) due to its always on diff and ohd tires, i was expecting something robust and unique.

I want to scream at the fucker that placed that medium logging frame on the C500. SO MANY trucks in the game get that addon but it sticks out like crazy and the trucks that don't have some other crippling flaw. So here's a decent truck with good frame length and a low mounted hitch. Almost perfect for medium logs. So what do they do? Like a foot and a half of empty space so the addon hangs back enough to be an issue when towing a trailer. What gets me even more is that they went through the trouble of making custom mounts for the addon, which makes it a unique addon. Which means they could've made the log frame properly fit, BUT DIDN'T! And since its a unique addon, logging frame mods will not automatically apply without being updated/editted for the unique slot!
In my review I'll show some things that make me disagree with that, but i can understand wanting that engine for sure. Who wouldnt want the #1 engine in the game right? I do think that truck pulls some loads alot of other very reputable trucks cannot. More to come :)
I like how most new DLC trucks have spare repair parts and fuel on the roof. I am not sure why they don't update some of base game trucks to have them too. The roofs on these new trucks are on the smaller side but can still support the roof rack. There are so many trucks in the base game with that size roof, and a lot with even bigger roofs, that don't support roof racks. I don't get it.

Not alot of them out there like that, but they do exist.
@ Ive made 3 videos on This and also poured testing into this very subject. Friction coefficients aren’t the end all be all. Bruuuh, c500 is just same as hx520. Same engine, same tire size, same consumption... Just ohd tires, 95lt more fuel and always on diffs. Cmon at least give raised suspension and bigger tires fk mud tires
Why, if I may ask? IMO it's a challenge of sorts. But if W990 is anything to go by, these trucks will do just fine. W990 pulls though almost everything, and even in heavy mud it outperforms many other trucks. Just because things like Atom are in the game, doesn't make these two or W990 not fun or not useful.
They are designed to use with low saddle semi-trailers, where the weight on the rear axles greatly increases traction and compensates for the lack of front drive. On the face of it, the Transtar 4070A looks like junk, and I sold it immediately in my casual game run. However, when I started a Hard Mode game, because of the lack of funds in the early game I kept it and used it with low saddle, thinking I'd just use it for tarmac. After a bit of unavoidable off-roading here and there, I started to gain confidence in its capabilities, to the point where I used it to complete the 'Harbor Delivery' and 'Super Order' contracts. The Transtar (running 39" UODII's, offroad box, top engine, low saddle, Sideboard semi- Oversized cargo) is the only free Michigan region truck that made it through that Drummond Island mud highway that goes north from the "Island's Bridge" wooden bridge, past where you find the Service Trailer to the tarmac again, whilst loaded without slowing down in High, without winching. This made me appreciate the rear drive only Highway trucks with plenty of grunt, they are more capable than they seem. I also made it solo across the long river crossing at the north end of Black River hauling the Superheavy fuel semi trailer. Naturally, winching was needed for this one but it still outdid the Fleetstar and WWS for crossing time, which surprised me.
The accurate weights for these trucks are 14.2 US Tons (12.9 tons) for the C500 & 12.7 US Tons (11.5 tons) for the T880. Both Trucks weights are best in class currently

Disagree.
Naturally, winching was needed for this one but it still outdid the Fleetstar and WWS for crossing time, which surprised me.
devs making the c500 "lets make a nice truck dream setup give it decent wheels now overprice it by 60k so people use a Russian in hardmode"
The tires are a complete joke.
The OHDs are fantastic though
@ with generic rims. Kinda getting tired of the same shit on every truck.
